LOVE IT!!! One of the favorite cars we ever had was a '79 99 Turbo 4dr hatch. Same exact color. Same rims. Same Turbo whine!! An absolute all time favorite. And the 99 was one of the most handsome SAABs ever made. I absolutely loved finding this video.

The first SAAB 99 TURBO was the 3-door combi coupe that came in 1978. In 1979 it came in a 2-door sedan and in 1980 it came with a 5-speed gearbox. SAAB 900 TURBO came in 1979 and was 5-door and in 1980 it was released in 3-door version.

The Saab 99 was a properly built and well thought out car. Many cars today are not engineered properly. They are just thrown together and have a short life span.

In 1980, every decent car had a 2 liter engine, and 90 or 100 Hp. This one had 145 Hp. Ford had 2,3 liter V6 with 114 Hp. Audi 100 GL5E had 136 Hp.

@@CarsofSwedenlive At that point, the normal engine for a VW Passat was at 75 Hp and 1,6 liter.

What's old is new. Have a 19 S60 T6 R with a 2.0. Has plenty of power and noticing the 2.0 is showing up in many manufacturers cars

My second car was a SAAB 99 EMS. The Turbo was way too expensive for me. SAAB 99 was notorious for bad gearboxes. This car whines on 2nd and 3rd so probably no exception on this one. Otherwise a nice car.
I also noticed that front light cleaners/wipers has been removed. Clever idea as they didn't work even when these cars were new.
