Does the clay dictate to the potter what it should be moulded into?
We are told in Jeremiah 18:4.. "And the vessel that he (the potter) made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, AS IT SEEMED GOOD TO THE POTTER TO MAKE"
Upon this, the Lord asks us in verse 6: "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? ...Look, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Isreal!"
We are by this, called upon to submit our will and whole being to the Lord for Him to restore us and make of us as He deems best because the Potter knows the best use to put the clay.
"For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works"
