- Six Canada Goose chicks have been nesting in Decorah, Iowa. Today they followed Mom off the nest, a 70 foot jump! The goslings then followed their parents to explore the shore and water.
One gosling seemed to be injured, so officials from Raptor Resource Project rescued the gosling who is now at the veterinarian.
Recorded from the live feed provided by Raptor Resource Project and Explore on 4/26/23. Watch live at www.youtube.co...
Raptor Resource Project has let us know that the injured gosling did not survive. He or she had a spinal injury that could not be treated.
Thank you all for watching this lovely family of geese. I’m so grateful for kind people who care about and help wildlife.

I will post any updates I see in a pinned comment 🤗
I wonder where in Decorah that was. Was it near the soccer field on the West end? There are geese there all the time.
I’m not local, I think the nest is near a fish hatchery but I don’t know what part of town that is. Thanks for watching!🐥
❤Thank You for Sharing ❤
You’re welcome!🐥
I never knew that Canada Geese could nest in trees! That blew me away. Babies are so sweet. :)
😂. Coming from under winggies,a flapping.
They must of had a pep talk, this morning!
I know right?! So cute ☺️
Hmmm. They lost one chick. I guess since they cannot count, it did not matter to the parents. I've seen ducklings jump from high nests and now all this having the chicks leap from on high seems like a way to lighten the family load. Those geese are similar to other birds like storks and eagles. Why can't these birds use their beaks to move their chicks to the ground?
Did only 5 make it? I saw 6 in the nest but only 5 swimming.
One seemed to have an injury so the wonderful people at Raptor Resource Project took the gosling to the vet. There is a sweet picture on their Facebook page 🤗
Momma Goose made them jump??? Thats it I am calling cps...
