The alternate timeline this comes from:
- John doesn't die in 1980
- The Beatles try to reunite several times during the 80s, but every attempt gets shot down by George
- John meets Kurt in 1992 after Nevermind gets released
- After releasing In Utero in 1993, Kurt leaves Nirvana to play with his hero
- In 1994, The Beatles officially return with the new lineup of John, Paul, Kurt, and Ringo
As nice that would be, Kurt wouldnt join the beatles because he has responsibilities to Nirvana.
Not to mention, he would feel like he wouldnt fit being significantly younger, and also from a darker and dirtier background than his happy english heroes
Kurt would have loved this. He basically admitted About a Girl was a Beatles rip-off!
Take a listen to The Smithereens Blood and Roses. It was on one of the tapes they were listening to in the 80s czcams.com/video/vqML7WbOun8/video.html

inspiration*
@@ren_true it's not an insult to call it a ripoff. Kurt himself used the word rip-off when talking about his "inspirations". Artists rip things off and make them better the way they see it, that's just the way it is.
@@daveleafey9283 all nirvana's songs are ripp-off from different sites
Doesn't surprise me how good this sounds. "About a girl" is the most Beatle-esque song he's written. Awesome work ! Subbed
I actually thought it was similar to "She Knows It" from the That Thing You Do soundtrack czcams.com/video/j0oHjHJxPro/video.html
Fun fact: he fully intended to make it Beatles-esque when he wrote it 😊
Drain you
Dumb has been called Lennon-esque more than Beatle-esque.
It’s definitely a Beatles type structure.
Great job - just one small suggestion...I reckon the Beatles would have slipped in a switch to the major on the last word of the chorus (on Free, or at the very least on the final "I Do").
I legit wish Kurt had written more songs like this. He could write an early Beatles song that holds up to the best of the actual stuff. Always thought this song was pop rock perfection.
Same
Sappy is basically a simplified beatles song
@@progrockmorelikefrogc0ck157 agreed actually. Very much so.
@@kurdt1012 actually....yes it does. Indeed, many early Beatles songs had a melancholy vibe even if they were upbeat on the surface. But if it makes you feel better I'll just say that you're right, we're all wrong, and you win. 🏆
Lithium is another one that has a kind of early Beatles-ish catchiness to it. A lot of Nirvana songs have that kind of 1960s pop quality to them, which is probably one of the reasons they were so popular. They gave cynical gen X kids a way to enjoy simple little tunes but with a punk edge so they wouldn't feel too corny about it.
The Beatles was one of his biggest influences
U don't Say
@@doraanaisnin5199 yes I did say it thank you for noticing. Hobag
THIS SOUNDS LIKE A WHOLE NEW BAND
Yea it does! Wish this was someone I could see live!
No
Yes it is, because it's neither Kurt or The Beatles.
@@reymisteryo9163 The Who is it? :P
Haha...I assumed this was one of the MANY AI covers populating earth. Your harmonies are so on point. Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling the actual Beatles harmonies give me.
But it doesn't sound anything like any of The Beatles singing? Beatles didn't have those kinds of harmonies either.
@@ThisBirdHasFlown oh sorry, my mistake. Clearly my subjective assessment is entirely false. I didn't realize an expert would see through my clearly wrong take. You win. 🏆 Congratulations. 👏 🎉
@@avedic yes totally your mistake. It's okay. Glad you liked the song!
No offense, but auto tune harmonies don't take much skill
@@tonedeadmusic9089 didn't say they do. I agree.
First song that made me fall on love with Nirvana. I remember immedetley thinking it sounded like an early Beatles song, and always wanted to hear a cover in the style of them. Then i read somewhere that Kurt wrote About a Girl after listening to With The Beatles some crazy number of times in a row, and it all made sense. Anyway, thanks for making my dream song come true lol.

@@westernbroadcastYeah, where Kurt lived.
Reminds me a little bit of beach boys . The vocal harmonies after the solo are simply stunning
Tambem acho mais parecido com Beach Boys.
A long, long, time ago somebody said to me, "Nirvana is not music!" And I said, "If Nirvana is not music, the Beach Boys were not music."
@@hermanhale9258no you didn't
frrrr, i though the same thing
there were some parts that felt like The Hollies too
1:42 damn, that harmony is good
Now, somebody needs to dub Lennon and McCartney's voices over this with AI.
You absolutely nailed the early Beatles essence here.
it's not bad but it didn't capture the early Beatles essence in my opinion. That guitar solo would never be played by the beatles. The uploader basically left the solo as it is. It should have been like an early jumpy George Harrison kind of solo like I Saw Her Standing There. Also, the drums aren't Ringo-like at all. A LOT of things are still way too grungy in this arrangement.
Nah, let's refrain from defiling anyone's legacy
Not an AI
No he didn't. Not even close. And fuck AI.
@@emipup_ how is this defiling a legacy?
This is definitely better than Puddle Of Mudd’s embarrassing cover!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Puddle of mud's >>
It’s spelled Mudd, so Puddle Of Mudd’s.
They lived up to their name on that cover
someone needs to make a Mario Sunshine soundfont cover of Blurry by Puddle of F.L.U.D.D.
Puddle Of Mudd's version is so bad that when you search " Puddle Of Mudd" on CZcams, " Puddle Of Mudd, about a girl" is the second result. Gonna go listen to it now for fun.
I told people back when Bleach came out to imagine "About a Girl" acoustically and that it really was a Beatles song. Few years later they did it on Unplugged and people also realized it. Kurt had a genius way of putting Beatle melodies in a punk aesthetic.
No you didn't
This is so fucking good that it makes me angry that I can't toss it into my Spotify playlist
Same I want this on spotify
Would love to hear Nirvana's "Happiness is a Warm Gun"
*Norm MacDonald laugh*
See emily play by Pink Floyd always felt like a Beatles song to me
I love that song
This is honestly the way he wanted it
Honestly sounds a lot more like the kinks. Pretty cool
Oh good, it's not just me who immediately thought "you reverse-engineered The Kinks" when I heard this.
Definitely sounds like a with the Beatles song
I ALWAYS said: the roots of grunge are to be found in the Beatles. Of cause! 👈 this!
Listen to The Hamburg Live set and they absolutely rip it up with proto punk and grunge. Long Tall Sally burns the stage down
The roots of most popular music can be heard in The Beatles
Nice arrangement!! Beautiful voices.
I love the bass line, the harmonies and the sweet guitar solo, which sounds totally like something George would play! I am digging this version for sure!
That was awesome! I love the harmonies you put in there!
The Beatles never would’ve said wop doo-wop
Made me feel like I was hearing the song for the first time. Really amazing work, this is great.
Beatles & Nirvana ❤
Dude, this is awesome! That little scream right before the guitar solo was just delightful. and I love the Bop doowahs. Prime work
Absolutely stunning.
Sounds really good,nice job!!!
Kurt was seriously influenced by Beatles, thats why this cover sounds so perfect
I love this, really good job!!!
Yo this is incredible!!!! Great job on this. 🔥🙏👏
This is incredible, man! That's such an amazing fusion of sounds, Nirvana and The Beatles. And it's so clean. Though, I actually feel like just a slight nudge on the gain knob, and this would have been a 60s garage rock song! Now, that's a great idea-thank you for sharing! Hope to hear more from you.
Regards,
Jack
I honestly thought this was an Ai project- but this is so incredible and you have a serious talent. Keep up the great work
This is amazing!
This was amazing!
Only thing that could make this better is if in the chorus the backing vocals first went "ooo" and then went "aaa", as the beatles commonly did. Other than that, awesome re-creation!
Great! How about Serving the Servants? Very Beatlesque vocal melody, in my opinion.
this sounds great ♥️♥️
Great job! Was curious to hear someone else's take on this cover. Mine's a bit more Rubber Soul. Diggin this 🤙
The quality of arrangement, harmonies, instrumentation, and feel is world class. I glanced at the subs and views and expected hundreds of thousands minimum. Well I'm glad I can say I came early. Because this is top quality. Kurt was a fan of the beatles, he would love this.
Idk abt that tbh. It's really good but world class?
It is not world class, too much harmonies in too many spots , and not very complex in the way the Beatles or other groups in the 60’s would’ve done it , very close though
@@Monkforilla what makes Beatles harmonies complex?
@@artistaccount well for one that would do three part harmonies with moving lines in various inversions , this rendition has simple 1 part harmonies singing a single note not moving ,
@@Monkforilla when the Beatles sing harmonies its mostly chord notes? And do they just follow the lead melody? Like chorus in we can work it out, get back, I want to hold your hand, do the Beatles follow the melody in the harmony? I struggle singing the harmony parts to songs. My brain and voice sticks to the melody for some reason
Honestly, this is absolutely brilliant! Great work.
Great work !!! That's awesome
Sounds great!
About a Girl is basically one of Kurt’s Beatles songs so this is hella appropriate.
I listened to this several times in a row, because i like it so much.
oh man! That's trippy! Luv it! 👍🏻👍🏻
OMG! I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED SOMETHING THIS BADLY! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS!
This is brilliant. Dave and Chris would like this if they hear this.

This is one of those covers thats so good it feels like listening to the song for the first time again. Wonderful job
Brilliant cover! ❤👏

Holy shit. That made my day. I love this kind of simple brilliance . The first 20 seconds was eh but then it took off. Fucking great job whoever did this :)
Excellent! Really well done 👏
About a girl - the most Beatles sounding song in Nirvana
This could definitely work as an early Beatle tune.
surreally amazing!
Wow this is amazing!
I know Kurt was inspired to write this song after listening to The Beatles but it really does sound good. Like, I can definitely hear this being on With The Beatles or Beatles For Sale or at least a single from around that era
Damn, I always wondered how Kurt's "And I Love Her" would sound if it were a Beatles song
Yeah, that’s a very Beatlesesque song

Its kinda perfect. Kurt wrote about a girl to basically be designed as a beatles song
Somebody should put out a Beatles soundalike version of The Stone Temple Pilot's "Big Bang Baby". That sounds like a Beatles tune as well. This version of "About A Girl" is great, since it's Nirvana's most Beatle-esque song.
That song actually takes, or rather is "inspired" by Picture Book by The Kinks, just as Green Day was "inspired" by that song.
@@jonnuanez7183 It does sound sort of like The Kinks 1969 recording of "Picture Book." Kurt has stated he liked John Lennon over Paul McCartney in interviews. I never heard anything about his opinions of Ray Davies or The Kinks.
@@robertorick6383 My bad for not clarifying. Big Bang Baby takes its inspiration from Picture Book by the Kinks.
@@jonnuanez7183 That's okay. I mistook Nirvana for Stone Temple Pilots myself. "Big Bang Baby" sounds like "Picture Book", not "About A Girl". My bad as well (I was a Kim Possible fan myself. She said "My Bad" a lot of times.)

So good!! I'm so tired of these AI covers, it's good to actually hear a soulful rendering by a talented musician.
Genius. Very well done.
It's super cool 😍
Great job, man. It doesn’t have to go far from the original to sound very Beatles.
Exactly
Да, эта песня в принципе так и просится в репертуар Битлов, но... Каждому своё. 😊
А впринципе было бы неплохо с помощью нейросетей реализовать в неё ещё и вокал Леннона. 🙂👍
I would prefer McCartney's voice but, eh, we each have our favorite 😊
this is really good well done
Amazing!
It's perfect, only the drums sometimes are not so starresque, but it could definitely be a Beatles song
The drums are way too busy
Sounds more like Weird Al on vocals
This is fantastic

I'd say the beach boys
I sure love the Beach Boys as much as I love the Beatles. Happy to hear though!
