Pretty simple project, Laugh Out Loud. It’s only simple because you are a master. I’ll have to watch a few more times just to understand it. I want to do my mailbox but since I have zero supplies I’m looking at rattle cans. Heck, I’ll just sent it to you.
Your efforts have been very helpful to me!!! Thank you for all the free advice and assistance
Thanx. You are a great asset to this community.
Great vid.!!
I was just wondering about the Wicked paint line and you've answered quite a few of the questions I had.
Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for the new Video i like how it helps us that are doing projects out of our garages im just starting out with airbrushing and i figure best way to advertise and practice is to do it on my own vehicles and its good to know i can do it all in my garage may not be the best but itll get the job done
great artist, congratulations Ed
Hey Ed, Ive been a follower for some time now and I just wanted to say that Ive appreciated all of the videos, tips, tricks etc. that youve made available to beginners like myself. GREATLY appreciated man. Awesome work!! Keeps me motivated, thanks again!

Awesome glad that I could help
wow!!! amazing!!!
You do great work Ed. I wish you were based in Portland OR so I could get lessons from you.
Thanks for sharing this Video Ed!
O way kewl!!
I can't wait!!
Thank you so much for these videos. How long can one expect the Wicked products to last on say a motorcycle? I would rather use water base but I have also heard they do not last. Thanks again.
@Vedbal1986 What brand of paint are you wanting to know the mixture on?
@edhubbs thats so cool edd..i use auto air to!! and been looking for videos around how to use them..but not many! good job!! why didnt u use sealer white??
Really enjoy your vids! Highlights and shadows are so important and is where most ppl will have problems. It take a skilled eye to know, and you are a master.
Cheers
LazyMan :-)
Great stuff as always Ed. Was quite shocked when you grabbed that bottle of sealer dark. Gotta be the first time ive seen you use waterbased. Ive been using AA since day 1 and i love the stuff. Been sent some testers of the Wicked colours, really need to give it a try. Theres a bit of a buzz about the new AA candies that are coming out soon too, be quite interesting to get my hands on some of those :)
Can't tell if you are a better airbrush artist or teacher, but another terrific tutorial! You will never know how much you have helped me. I went from not knowing how to hold or use an airbrush, to where I am doing stuff that makes me go Wow! Just wondering why the dark sealer and not white? Going right now to buy your DVD, the least I can do to say thanks for everything. Keep up the great work.
You are awesome!!
cool thanks. You have inspired me to do some work on my bike.
hi ed,
another great video.. If I'm not wrong this is your first water base vid..
as this was the only choice i could get it ship to me..
I'm also learning to get use to the flash time.. and the right mix..
so many thanks again ed,... learning so much from you,... its amazing,... ;-)
respect !!
def.buying this dvd!!
Nice videos!
I was wondering what does the sealer do?
amazing.....
Do you have to heat each color and is that what helps the colors from fading in the sun? Like does it "cure" the paint?
Cheers Ed,,educational and motivational as ever :-)
So when you refer to varnish you are meaning clear coat? If so that is true you must clear coat before polishing.
hi! ed ! i am from brazil and I like very much of your videos... what kind of varnish did you use after paint this flag?
I'm all waterbased (Auto Air). We have a friend in common, Rick Primeau, and I have to thank him for turning me on to them. I was using cheap acrylics from the hobby store when I started out.
excellent video man!thank you
@crazyjames7474 No that is correct. When you prep a surface you sand it with what?
Once again, great airbrush tips! By the way, just got another airbrush, Iwata High-Line BH. I'm a proud mama. I'm hoping it will give me better detail work than my Eclipse HP-BCS (better for my larger work).
Thanks for your answer...and i would like to know if, is it necessary to use varnish after cream of polish or cream of polish first? Or use only the varnish its ok?
Hi Ed, I've been watching your videos and now I'm inspired to take the plunge and try airbrushing the flag design on a (please don't laugh) mailbox. I bought the flag DVD for this purpose. Since the mailbox is painted metal would I prep it the same way as a motorcycle or car panel? Would you recommend that I use House of Color paints for this surface? Thanks and keep sharing your awesome videos.
vaya fenomeno hace los complicado facil, eres un crack
@cliffnshaun These are the steps that I do to paint a raw plastic base ball helmet. Wash it with hot soapy water and a red scotch brite and then also wash it with the same scotch brite and use sand fix with it. Then clean it with water and wipe it down with plastic prep cleaner, then spray a plastic adhesion promoter on it.Wait 5 minutes and apply my sealer then my base and then start air brushing.
@cliffnshaun Oh and about that helmet, sometimes if your plastic adherent is applied too thick it'll crack like that specially if you don't let it dry fully. also make sure to use a sealer before you base coat.
I love your vids!
Can you tell us what kind of scotch tape (the blue one) u use and where i can buy it? Im from europe.
quick question. what clear do you use for water based paints? thank you for your help
I just descovered your videos ed and spent the time to view them all. Great videos and inspirational as well, I am going to put down the money for your DVDs when I get paid this week.
I am in the middle of restoring a '66 chevy pickup and had a question for you. I want to do a metallic copper/bronze two tone and really wanted to do a two part. Who's painting system do you reccomend?
I am aware of the circulation and respiration requirements of a two part as well.
Ed,
Awesome work as always! Do you do any hand-sketching or just paint work?
Cheers!
That one in which you will explain how correct some imperfection of the project. For example the imperfect line that is when you remove the adesive paper from the red stripe
havent tried the detail white, but even the regular wicked white is a vast improvement over the auto air white
You are so friendly thank you for the explanation.
Your welcome
yes it is peeling to the primer and what you said made since so sand primer sand with 600 then seal thanks Ed
As Always Awsome And Thanks
@maskme0727 Sounds like you need to thin the paint more.
Thank you very much!
@MegaCheekymonkey111 LOL OK Thanks for taking the time out of your day to watch it and also for the effort it took to write your comment.
@edhubbs how do u mix ur water based paints?
@edhubbs Do you need to reduce the premixed bottles that you buy from coastairbrushdotcom?
Fantastic vid dude! How come the change of paint suppliers? If you don't mind me asking. Cheers
I love your work, but I have not been able to get on to your website. I get an error code. would like to purchase or see the video continuation on the flag.
Awesome :)
YEAH! cool you are the best
Another great video Ed! I have to admit though, when you pulled that Auto Air out, I was a little surprized. Are you making the switch to waterbased? If so, check out the Auto-Borne line (4700 series) from Auto Air. It's great stuff!
@pernoy
Thanks
@crazyjames7474 There is your problem why it is peeling. It should be sanded with 600 after primer and then sealed and based. When you scotch brite primer it is not a sharp enough tooth for the sealer or base to bite into. And in my opinion it is the reason why it is peeling on you.Is it peeling down to the primer?
@gonzo454 You are very welcome
@Vedbal1986 You can reduce them down more if needed.
Hey Ed
Just curious. What airbrushes do you use, most of the time ?? I'm a beginner with 5 decent airbrushes, but would like to know what you use ?
Stoney
what psi do you recomend using for an eclipse gravity feed?
I haven't had any problems with them lasting as long as you apply a good clear coat over them.
@little1angel you are welcome.
@edhubbs yes auto air base sealer (sealer dark) should i be using something else? thanks ED
@LIQUIDAVIATION Thanks
@MrJax617 I am glad that they have helped you. If you ever need more info I also sell over 20 Instructional video's on my web site.
How do you mix your colours? Can we use water or we need reducer? Also how much paint and how much reducer/water?ty in advance!
i sanded it with 600 then i cleaned it with wax and grease remover, hit it with some primer then scotch brite then i whipped it down with a tac rag. then i sprayed it with sealer dark came back over it with semi-opaque black then dryed it with a blow dryer, layed down some 3m green tape and drew out my design cut it out and when i was removing my cut outs it pealed some of the paint all the was back to the primer....figured i would tell you everything all in one paragraph
hey Ed did you get any tip dry with wicked paints?
are you panels galvanized steel or ????? else? Thanks Ron
@jovanny8677 This one is in Water based paints.
@godofm3tal1 OHHHHHHH
I have heard a many a story about the rules and regulations that are in effect in Cal. and it doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
Ed, love your videos. Question: I need an extremely, extremely, extremely bright neon orange for a special project. What brand/color do you recommend?
dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you're bored like me atm you can watch all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last few months =)
@Marlon Adam yup, been using InstaFlixxer for months myself :D
@svee what have you heard about new AA candies?
Ed ignore that jerk you are the best quick question i use auto air and wicked and almost everytime i put down a base coat then start taping to do my layout when i peal the tape it pulls up the base coat i wash it sand it scotch brite use wax grease remover and i use 3m tape and it still pulls up the base coat any ideals? thanks james
Wait... another video!?!? I just got All Fired Up! lol I've been wanting to paint a flag my bike. Thanks!
This is the first I've seen you use water based paint. Are you switching from urethane or just changing it up?
so how do you find the wicked line (not the detail line? ya know ,how it sprays with a minigun?
@jovanny8677 I already do it is for sale on my web site and it is called Wicked Flags.
@cliffnshaun I know you didn't ask ME but here's my two cents... I don't know exactly what you mean by messing up, but if you mean REALLY messing up like with runs and what not I'd just block out all runs and orange peel using 400 and an adequate block, then go over it with 600 for a DA sander, scuff with a gray scotch bride and start over. Ed might have a better method under his sleeve but I hope that helps.
Can you please direct me to the masking tape you use?? I looked for pinstriping tape but I think it is different!
Hey Edd which red does you use???
color code???
thx from germandy
I'm thinking of taking up airbrushing and I was wondering: There are $25 to $100 airbrushes for sale at my local crafts store. Does price make a that big of difference? What should I choose?
@Vedbal1986 Sorry I have never used Createx paints.
@awash2004 Can't go wrong with Realistic Flames.
@Stoney327 I use all Iwata and I would recommend the Iwata HP-BCS and several bottles from coastairbrush(dot)com
Which video are you talking about/
what camera do you use by any chance?
@Vedbal1986 1/8 inch blue fine line tape from coastairbrush(dot)com
Hi ed...lynchcustoms from fb:)
@Thundering34 LOL I didn't have any white at the time. You caught me.OOPS.LOL
How ya doing?
fullblownkustoms(dot)com The video is called Wicked Flags
@edhubbs didnt mean in the airbrush world. i mean spraying whole cars or large panels with waterbased products. i dont know if you have ever used PPG envirobase HP, but that is some nasty stuff.... i prefer solvent lol but here in CA we cant get the good solvent options. HOK is about it. Omni for economy jobs. i think us painters out here should just be happy they still allow us to paint cars with guns.. any more EPA regulations out here and we will be putting it on with a paint roller...
@edhubbs no its not very fun at all. lol luckily my supplier and i have a close business relationship and he hooks me up with some deltron pearls and stuff to play with from time to time. got silver, red, and blue currently. i just did a flag a few days ago, if you give me your email ill send you a pic of it. came out awesome. all done with pearls lol but yeah... no good paints out here man. dont come to CA lol at least, not the SF bay area.
@edhubbs Createx Opaque colours
