  • Figuring out what's causing a knocking sound that just showed up, after a few weeks of increasing vibrations in the front foot pegs.

Was there a sound like that when the engine was cold?

It made that sound hot or cold.

Attaway to diagnose that fucking problem! Looks like it's going to be expensive no matter what, for fuck's sake.

It actually turned out to be rod knock. She got a new S&S stroker crank, along with Timken bearing upgrade, last year. 😁😁😁

What's total cost to fix this ???

To just fix it? Not sure. Since it turned out to be a rod knock after all, it was going to need a new or rebuilt crank, so I decided to get an S&S stroker crank, along with the Timken bearing upgrade, and have the engine rebuilt to 107 ci. That was a few thousand bucks. I live in Canada, where everything is about twice the cost as it would be in the US (the crank alone was almost $3K, while at the time it listed for around $1700.00 in the US, plus we get taxed into oblivion on top of that), so... still a couple of grand down there, I would imagine.

I replaced the destroyed alternator parts, but the tapping/knocking sound remains, so that means it's time to split the cases. She will be getting a balanced/welded/plugged stroker crank, and Timken bearing upgrade. Next season she'll be sporting a 107 cubic inch engine. I consider that the silver lining.
      Cheers!
