Thanks for releasing this lap with no commentary. Just the perfectly running V8.
They should do this oftenly
It is a thing of beauty, isn't it?
Nice
I agree.
Seconded
WEC take note… this is how your onboards should look and sound. Superb quality.
Did you not see the Ferrari pole lap at Spa? WEC have a video of it on CZcams.
@@eamonahern7495Ferrari CZcams channel was also live-streaming the whole 6 hour race yesterday. It was beautiful.
WRC should take note too, 2024 onboards sound like they're from 2004.
Nah the camera angle is horrendous
I'm agree that WEC sound system (or their sound man) is pretty bad for 2024.
0:42 Rev limiter tap
So smart. Doesn’t make sense to upshift there sense hes right at the braking zone where he has to downshift. He’d have to downshift twice and unsettle the car more going into the high speed sweeper.
Just a little kiss.
that's how you know the right gears are in the box
@benn454 now kith
@@incubrianwe only get two sets-Daytona, and everywhere else 😢
That glide down the Corkscrew was clean.
I noticed that as well, he was carrying so much speed, very impressive
Almost looked like he caught air.
Blink and you can miss it. Seriouly impressive.
His poor stomach must've been yanked every which way but loose.
He was on the throttle midway through the exit :)
I'm glad IMSA is going to Laguna now in the year of all times. Give those neighbours a big middle finger and an earful of that V-Series R.
I hate NIMBYs that move next to tracks or airports and proceed to whine about something they knew about going in until they get their way. So crappy and selfish.
@@benn454 pretty sure he's not a nimby but a property developer/ real estate entrepreneur who wants to make a fortune on the track's land. but do your own research I watched a video a few months ago and don't remember it that well.
"Those neighbors" is one guy with an LLC. People aren't really that stupid, a lot of people around Laguna Seca are motorsports enthusiasts, or just don't care about a little occasional noise in the distance.
@@benn454 People who move into flight paths tend to be poor and not have choices. The area next to Laguna is very wealthy. No one moved there without knowing about and not being bothered by it.
I’ve driven over 1000 laps of Laguna Seca club racing and track driving there for 20 years straight since I only live an hour away, and when I see the mechanical and aero grip that modern prototype cars produce it’s just amazing to watch.
Its crazy. They can absolutely cane it in the hi speed corners, and that last hairpin is like nothing. Its unbelievable.
What is your PB lap time and in what car under what conditions?
I, too, would love to know what a real local regular does lap time wise and in what car
@@DeathMetalAsian guess we'll never know :(
I FUCKING LOVE THE CADILLAC V8 INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
I was there
I could clearly see that he was pushing harder than anybody else and was especially fast
It was awesome!
Ask and ye shall receive! What a lap from Bourdais!
Made it look like Grand Turismo 💪🏆🥳🎉
60fps... WEC take notes...
In the WEC app it is actually 50fps…
@@aendoh Because European TVs.
For comparison, 1:12:126 was the LMP1 record set by the beast; the Audi R10. These damned things are just as fast as the Audis, and WAY FASTER than the record set by the last iteration of GTP, the Porsche 962! I believe it's safe to say that Group C has returned.
The Audi lap was an official lap record (set during a race) - this one with the Cadillac isn't.
Prime 2015-2020 LMP1 Hybrid like Audi R18 2016 / R18 e-tron quattro 2015, Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015-2017 or Toyota TS040 Hybrid 2015/ TS050 Hybrid 2016-2020 would blast the R10 by atleast 5 seconds of margin.
Audi R10 doesn't come close to the hybrid LMP1 such as the 919 or R18
Funny thing is it's actually the 08 LMP2s that have the lap record in the 1:10s because that was the era where LMP1 and 2 were pretty equal, just with the P2s having less power and less weight
@@arkeusalexander9054 even if those had wider tires back then...
God bless cadillac and that monstrous v8….maybe this will show f1 that cadillac CAN BE COMPETITIVE
Haha yeah right..
This is exactly what @F1 is terrified of. The Andrettis bringing Cadillac over there and whooping their asses. 🇺🇸🇮🇹🏁🇺🇸
Bro f1 v8 sound like this but have a Rev limit on 8000 to 9500 rpm
@@Unknown-3455gamer F1 hasn't run a V8 for years. They run twin-turbo V6s.
@@TheBuelliganRidesI’m mean it Rev to 19000rpm to 20000 rpm look at costworth v8 on the engine dyno
I really hope the Andretti - Cadillac F1 entry will battle through the bull of F1 establishment teams and old boys club, I’d love to see what they might be able to accomplish on track. I’m certain the first few years would be a bit difficult, but they at least deserve a chance to compete.
They nailed it with that cross plain V8. I can imagine it with no top in CanAm.
I was very sad when Corvette switched to the flat plane cranks in the C8.R.
I do wish they would be able to spin them to 11-13k RPM or had an incentive to do so.
They sound great now, but they can sound so much better just a tad higher up.
@@barath4545Sadly I doubt there's incentive. I think the only reason they would do that is if they had to make the engine lighter by decreasing piston size, which would increase maximum RPM and (probably) decrease power. This engine revving to 11k would sound incredible though.
00:42 It sounds like a late model bouncing on the limiter.
Limiter slap timestamp, bravo! 🤩
why Caddy sounds better on IMSA onboards than on WEC ones? do WEC use worse microphones or?
Not sure, but I think you might be right that WEC just has worst camera and mic quality than IMSA
Different microphone placement produces significantly different results. I’m not sure if BOP has a role to play in how it sounds, but on a purely audiotechnical level, the position of the microphone, along with the mounting mechanism for the microphone will influence the audio a lot. You can see this in Formula 1 where drivers come over the radio and the sound of the car from the cockpit is vastly different to the sound from the microphone atop the chassis. This is particularly noticeable in both the Ferraris and Red Bulls.
I will say though that if it’s just a different engine/BOP thing that that would make sense (still new to IMSA and WEC so bare with me), but assuming things are relatively similar, the microphone position, quality, type, mounting and audio processing software would dictate the most differences in sound
@@dayaan3s632 It's definitely not BOP or a different engine. The IMSA mic quality/placement does this engine more justice. A lot of the WEC onboards sound very similar even comparing the V6 engines to this.
@@SwingAxleLover unsurprising. I’d have to see what the mics they’re using in both series are, but it’s definitely true that you get a throatier and more full sound from the IMSA mic. I will definitely still maintain that placement and supporting equipment is king because it's what determines sound profile more than mic quality when the positioning is as varied between the two series as it is, but it can't hurt to have a better mic producing much better sound.
Whatever the case is, that Caddy can sing
Imsa like American Le Mans before it has always been about fans first. Then there's people like Marshall Pruett, who push for the best audio experience.
What a lap!
THIS SOUND AAAAAAAAAAAAAA. PLEASE #IMSA MORE ON BOARD POLE LAP WITHOUT COMMENTARY
What a lap, what a sound !!!
The turn in on that Caddy is epic
Incredibly fast, watch a display of throttle control!
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
WooHoo!!! What a lap! Damn, that was fast.
FINALLY we see good camera quality... i always wondered, why its 2024 and still most onboard footage looks like its made with a actioncam from 2010.

@@UnknownSpots6I think he might be a sim racer
no, I don't think he's driving a Newey Rocket here...
Man that was such a beautiful drifting motion on the first turn. Like he was gliding through the air on rail 👌
The way he eats the curbs is a reason for this crazy lap
Like other drivers don't do the same
@@frederickcolaire5367did any other drivers set wr's?
honestly, it was probably more down to his braking than his curb usage. he was also extremely good at rotating the car under acceleration, as well, to point him at the exit sooner. curb usage was more a side effect rather than the point, though.
Amazing line
Very clean, gets on the accelerator a lot earlier than I expected on a number of corners, so learnt something from this.
Now that’s skill right there😮💨🤌🏼
Hear that snooty laguna seca neighbors? That’s the sound of FREEDOMMM 🦅🦅🦅
Amen brother.
The car sounds like it's barely even stretching its legs!!! Incredible
Never would have thought you could take the corkscrew this fast in this type of vehicle.
that was so smooth!
Smooth as silk!
look at the slip angle at 00:15 he is absolutely on the limit nice.
Where is the onboard of the record lap Daytona?
wild ride!
Lovely lovely stuff well done Seb!
Man i was watching this video with a speaker, even though my room was locked but people outside my room still heard noise, i guess It's the power of v8!!!!
How can you not love Laguna Seca's corkscrew? Deadly chicane with a deadly follow up left turn, the whole circuit is a 7, but these turns are a 10, I love it.
Sounds so nice !
Love Lugana Seca 👋🇧🇷🌎
The overall lap record on Laguna Seca is 1:05.78 and it was set in 2012 by Marc Gene driving the Ferrari F2003-GA Formula 1 car.
Thanks. I was wondering what the all Ike fastest lap was.
That was not an official lap record because it wasn't driven in a race. Only race laps count as official lap records.
@@Fastvoicethanks 👍🏻 a lot of people don‘t understand what is a lap record. On the NS the same. Naturally the lap from Timo Bernhard was crazy but Stefan Bellof drives his round in a race weekend.
@@marceljusten705 His 6:25.91 lap was indeed during a race. His 6:11.13 lap OTOH was "only" during free practice and didn't count officially.

He was absolutely flying. Both in quali and the first part of the race, absolutely untouchable.

The sound ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
that braking before the corkscrew is the scariest section. its way steeper in real life than it looks on video
Perfect Lap
One Cadillac smashing lap times at Laguna Seca, while another smashing walls at Spa
Earl Bamber really misjudged that move, almost careless in his driving style.
Title matches content and no one talking over it. Wow, am I in an alternate universe of YT? Stellar run! Thanks for the video!
I had to re watch this with HEADPHONES. GODDAMN.
Bravo ! 🇫🇷
I'm looking forward to this series coming to AMS2 soon.
record made with a 5.5lts N/A V8, don't forget this, awesome machine!
Wow , i was lucky enough to drive a CADILLAC CTSV all out full throttle a few laps except that goofy sound meter on the back side they had us slow down ! So i recognize the turns pretty well,,, especially the cork screw…! This video is so fun to watch never gets old .!!! 🏁🏁🇺🇸
I miss playing old Gran Turismo games...
No DB limit that day! 🎉🎉🎉
Laguna is to me the coolest track in the world. And to see a Caddy take the record...excellent! Happy for the company. I wish their street cars were beautiful again. Some models had lovely lines and proportions. And some of those Fleetwoods like the Buick Roadmaster got 30 mpg/hwy.
MEGA lap, Bourdais on fire here. Car sounds immense looked planted, turn 1 is insane these cars must have an immense limited slip differential to get a car that big rotated into a corner.
Now you know why Toto Wolf doesnt want to race against Cadillac.
Way to go Seb! Looking forward to the next Hamburger and French Fry show
If only you could get a caddy like that for the road
Seb Bourdais is still an amazing driver, and this car sounds amazing. So… imagine them being able to run in F1 with Andretti Racing! I hope to hell that Andretti gets to put a car on the grid.
Looked airborne on the corkscrew
well shiznit that was smokin fast! good on ya Bourdais
Goddamn that sticks like glue and goes like hell. \m/ \m/
Cadillac!!🫡🇺🇸
I just golded the online time trial at this track that gran turismo put up the week of the race. Insane how perfect these guys do it in real life 😭
It's a NEW TRACK RECORD!!
Wow 😳 😳 😳 that's fast 😳😳😳
wow now that was fast, imagine that it's just one second slower than indy's last year pole for a car that has considerable less power-to-weight ratio
I remember when this track was called Mazda raceway laguna seca instead of weathertech raceway laguna seca
Back in the good ol’ days
Beautiful...
Awesome lap - wish we could see the steering wheel though!
What is really impressive, is as amazing of a lap it was, there is room for improvement to go even faster.

Bud Moller set the ultimate lap record on the old asphalt with his Schumacher Ferrari at a 1.04.14 a couple f years ago. The time was backed up by the Ferrari Historic test driver at the same time within thousand's. Who says vintage racers aren't real racers. If MS drove it it might have been a sub minute which was the best time on the old track layout that did not have any of the infield turns. There is a you-tube of his run.
Body movement, small corrections etc. This immediately reminded me of Assetto Corsa
Should be in the 500
Cars look good on track i was at long beach
So cool, but kind of wish we could have seen the telemetry data live
We really need some telemetry.
No joke I thought this was a track only in gran turismo this whole time lmao
Lots of rubber down on the corners.
How much of the track would you like to use today?
Bourdais: yes

FOM: "Andretti Cadillac wouldn't be competitive enough in F1, so we can't approve them."
Cadillac: "Hold my LMH car."
Is this that mic is not the same or does this caddy have another kind of gearbox/clutch than the wec's one ?
This is an overreaction to Dodge Viper ACR’s track record set in 2016.
this is literally the new overall lap record in IMSA, not even DPi came close all those years ago
@@joaquingonzalez834the track was repaved last year. A DPi would likely beat this time on the new surface
@@Harmonic14question, has daytona been repaved too? that might have something to do with the qualifying record set there too, if we were to consider this
The repaving they did last year has been like a grip hack.
Looks easy to drive with so much grip
Does anybody know if that's the same flat plane the Corvette uses?
Nope this has a cross plane V8 not a flat plane from the corvette 😃
