  • Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the South African anti-apartheid icon, has died at the age of 90. In 1984 Desmond Tutu won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work fighting to end white minority rule in South Africa. After the fall of apartheid, Archbishop Tutu chaired the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, where he pushed for restorative justice. He was a leading voice for human rights and peace around the world. He opposed the Iraq War and condemned the Israeli occupation in Palestine, comparing it to apartheid South Africa. We reair two interviews Archbishop Tutu did on Democracy Now!, as well as two speeches on the Iraq War and the climate crisis.

RIP Desmond Tutu! 🇿🇦🇿🇦 The world should pay attention to the humanitarian crisis and Genocide that is taking place in Tigray where Ethiopia and Eritrea are committing war crimes supported by China, Turkey, UAE and Iran.
Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela were some of the visionary leaders that gave birth to the new and democratic South Africa through their struggles and moral leadership 🇿🇦 May their legacies guide and inspire the current and future generation of South African leaders to combat corruption, xenophobia, racism, inequities, poverty, crimes and violence!
South Africa should be a role model for other African countries where despotic regimes are destroying the continent funded by foreign powers, including the tyrannical regimes such as those in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia.
Ethiopia’s regime (led by a “Nobel peace prize winner”) is currently starving millions of people in Tigray, using hunger as a weapon of war and killing innocent civilians with imported drones from Iran, UAE, Turkey and China.
