Staying at a poolside V1 this December. Never had a butler before and im scared I won't utilise them to the full as it's all new to me 😂. This video has provided a great insight! (Also for when we went to royal Barbados) thanks!

I have never been to a Sandals resort, but looking in to it. How long does the introductory program take for newbies for SCUBA, and how much is the fee? If you stay in the Village portion of the resort or somewhere other than up front close to the beach and restaurants, is there always transportation available to get you to where you need to go? Some of the Villages look like they would be a far walk.
Hello! Thanks for stopping by and your comment! :) Sandals Ochi is the cheapest, yet largest of the Sandals resorts and I wont lie - it is big. There are some shuttles that run between the key parts of the resort. With 16 dining options, these are spread across different areas of the resort so you can plan accordingly. What about weddings? If it’s couples only how can you have a wedding?
Great question! There are a few different scenarios here. First, Sandals owns Beaches resorts in Jamaica and Turks and Caicos - these are 5* Sandals-style resorts meant for families. So, if there are due to be a multitude of kids on a group, this is a sensible option. For Sandals itself, the resort is indeed couples-only. However, for weddings exceptions are made under certain circumstances to allow a single adult to attend; this would typically be a single person with a large wedding group or more common, someone like the mother-of-the-bride with a smaller group. These exceptions have to be run up a chain for approval, but I manage to get these exceptions quite regularly. For kids or those wishing to stay at nearby family resorts and attend the wedding, a wedding pass can also be purchased specifically for the event. Hi, thanks for the question! As with most luxury properties, suites are non-smoking, but there are selected points across the resort for smoking. Officially, smoking on the balconies is discouraged, but I've had clients request an ash tray from their butler and they smoked when the nearby balcony was unoccupied. There is also a designated smoking area within the shortest walk from all sections of accommodation in the resort. Does that help? Any further questions for you? Do they have two bedroom suites at Ochi? And if so, are they butler suites and where in the complex are they located?
Hi Karin! Great question. So, it is extremely rare for Sandals to have any room for more than 1 couple since it is an adult-only/couples-only brand. Most couples traveling in groups will book the same room code and stay nearby. At Sandals Ochi, the Butler Villas (amazingly priced at Ochi) have 4 butler suites per villa and they share a private pool. In this instance, two couples traveling together can certainly request to have their suites in the same villa. Alternatively, there is Sandals Royal Plantation next door which is an all-butler resort with full exchange privileges to Sandals Ochi. At this resort there is a 2-suite butler villa which could also be suitable. It is good for a family with adult aged kids?
Hi! It’s no secret that Sandals is an adult-only, technically couples-only brand! However, I have had many clients travel with their adult children, friends, etc. I’ll sometimes even take my father or brother with me on a trip. As long as all rooms are double occupancy and each person is 18+, it’s no problem! Ochi is a very cheap, lively Sandals is great for this purpose. Any questions, we are happy to assist! How easy is it to go out of resort to experience locals? Does Sandals help with that like shuttles to city centers or some tourist areas?

Yeah, in Jamaica there are a good number of crime hotspots tourists wouldn’t be aware of, so independent island exploration is generally discouraged for the average tourist. You are able to add dozens of vetted and safe tours and excursions to a Sandals booking; these are the best way to go out of resort in my opinion.

Hi there, We recently stayed at Sands RC and found that the nightlife was slim/ended quite early. Would you say Ochi has more nightlife that continues later into the night say passed 10pm?
Hi Chris! Yes, SRC is marketed as a relaxing retreat, so nightlife is kept consolidated and at a minimum; as you are able to visit MoBay when staying at SRC, many choose to use the more active nightlife there as even once the shuttles stop, a taxi fare is but a few dollars back to SRC. :) For Ochi, I’d first remind you that this is the entry-tier, more traditional resort, so will be a little less luxurious than SRC/SMB. Due to the low price point at Ochi, it attracts a lot of much younger couples which gives way to a very lively resort atmosphere. The Rabbit Hole speakeasy bar is hopping at nighttime. Overall, yes, the nighttime offerings at Ochi are definitely higher than SRC.

Been doing a lot of research about this resort and this video is by far the best yet. We're looking at going at the end of Oct. Is it best to book the package through the Sandals website and is airport transportation to and from the resort included in the package from Montego Bay? I see it asks if its needed and says it's $50.

Have any of your clients ever reported poor butler services? Another couple we met at a different resort mentioned their butler was almost never reachable.

Thanks for watching. We follow up quite closely with our clients and haven't had any issues with this, including in my own travels. If this was an issue at all for anyone, I'd suggest that you take a few quick and easy stes to rectify this:
1) Pay a visit to the butler lounge or ask for the butler manager at the concierge desk.
2) You have a dedicated phone, so if this isn't being managed, they will sort that. If it's a butler quality issue, they can sort this.
3) There is an app called the LOOP, which is definitely under utilised. If there are any issues, simply log them in the app and they have a time limit on your requests. If your issues isn't resolved by the time limit, it gets escalated. The app will escalate up to the Chairman's office if it isn't sorted!
So, while I've never dealt with this and would always encourage guests to be aware of the size of the resort in contrast to the visibility of their butler, the above steps will most certainly sort any issues that arise! I've also found that with the butler service, 90% of the benefit comes behind the scenes - the things they do for their guests without their presence being known/required. :)

Has the Riviera beachfront club level been renovated?
These rooms have had minor updates, but no major renovations lately. For Sandals Ochi, I really do recommend the butler tier - even for those who don't want the butler, simply for the sake of the better suites.
