And while I definitely see the similarities as a art history major I can say that Ariana’s is 100% inspired by da vinci’s last supper in particular if you look at the way they’re posed in the beginning it’s a definite call back to that and fits considering the theme of “god is a woman” with her in the center as “Jesus” while beyonxe may have some similarities the messages and inspo are def different! But it’s always cool to see how creatives minds are similar and different XD

The two perfomances have some similarity but they mean two different things: Beyoncé perfomance comes from the Love Drought music video where we see her first in a chair overturned, in a state of sleep or deep rest; after, we see three black women take up the same lying down yet seated pose, surrounded by an abundance of red and pink roses. Beyoncé, no longer sleeping, but instead sitting on the ground in front of the other women, implies her awoken from a state of passivity, the gold paint on her skin signifying her worth. Additionally, the restrictive poses of the women on their backs could serve as a reference to the Middle Passage, according to a blogger under the pen name “melanatedmoney.” The voyages were characterized by the maltreatment of enslaved Africans as cargo, packed tightly and contorted to fit as many people as possible onto boats.
Ariana's perfomance is a reference about a famous paiting "The Last Super" by Leonardo Da Vinci. But she is putting different types of women instead of the men. Ariana's perfomance is a celebration of femininity. She uses religion to overpower women since the religion code always put men above women.

If you listen to it again on her video, her live singing is only at the start to 0:28 and from 2:55 to the end. Everything else in the middle is a pre recorded but made out to sound like a live singing performance

Although they have similar iconography they draw from different sources. Where Ariana draws from renaissance Christian art Beyoncé draws from native Yoruba religions iconography specifically the Orisha of rivers and beauty Oshun.
