ho studiato con un allievo di Mainardi , e ho usato la aua edizione per tutte le suites. È una visione analitica utilissima, ma che oggi trovo troppo astratta , lontana dalla profondità del cuore umano , dal mistero. Vuole spiegare , non donare. Il mio preferito è sempre Pierre Fournier.

His prelude is about 60 seconds longer than Casals', yet he keeps it very abstract by keeping each note clean, direct, discrete and more staccato than most performers play this piece. I like it a lot. My favorite recording of this has been Rostropovich, who does the prelude at a fast temp --- 2:10, about ten seconds longer than Casals. But this slower tempo is nice without getting emotional.
