Appreciate you going through all the settings as I just received my nest, and installed a brand new system in my house. I would advise against setting temperatures at extreme ranges when home/away. For example, if you normally heat around 68, I would only allow it drop about 3-4 degrees or so during away or at night. Allowing your home to cool down to 57 and then having to work to increase 10+ degrees in the winter causes hvac systems to work harder. I'd just keep ranges moderate. :)

@@jolkraeremeark6949 I've always used 20 degrees as a guideline. Why? Because as long as you're not dropping below freezing temperature in the winter, or melting your wax seals or other melty things under your toilets, and you have no animals to worry with, it really doesn't matter one flip.

Will it control furnace blower ON/OFF? My humidifier is mist kind and requires heat and blower working together with humidifier. My humidifier also requires furnace blower to work a couple minutes after humidifier switches off automatically to distribute all the moisture collected in the duct. If blower stops the same time with mist humidifier moisture still will sit inside plenum and makes it rust. Will this Humidifier Control have this setting so furnace blower work few minutes after humidifier switched off??

It's downstairs and set to 77° thing is it cools every part of the house but 1 room. And the weird thing on that is when it is set to 74° I feel the air perfectly in that room but downstairs they get to cold. Any idea of what I'm suppose to do so the room doesn't feel like a sauna or swet box

The Home/Away Assist function in the Google Nest App, the Presence Sensing function and the Homs/Away Automations in the Google Home App failed miserably to automatically switch in and out of ECO mode. I found no solutions in those functions.
I did find a solution in the Automations of the Google Home app.
First I turned off all the Home/Away Functions in the Nest app, all the Presence Sensing functions and Home/Away routines in the Home app.
Then in Automations in the Home App, I set up two new routines. These routines use precise location info just like a naviagtion app would and were set up to mimic what the Home/Away and Presense Sensing functions are supposed to do.
My Arrive Home routine is set at 150 meters from home to change my thermostat to Heat - Cool mode.
My Leave Home routine is set at 500 meters from home to change my thermostat to ECO mode.
I tested and it worked exactly like I have wanted Home/Away to work all along.

I'm not sure if it's the app or actually the thermostat, but I have my heat set 72 degrees and the cool set to 80 degrees, for some reason it decides to reset itself to 71 degrees for heat and 81 degrees for cool. It's not in ECO mode it just seems to arbitrarily do this. any ideas why. Update on this post I'm pretty sure it's the app on my phone that was causing this, I would advise people after setting up all your peripheral Nest devices with the app on your phone to uninstall it, my thermostat seems to be doing what I have it set to now. Do not go to the Google Nest forums either any topic for legitimate concerns that users have Google immediately closes the discussion.

Thanks for this video. However, the Safety Temperature "Cool" setting is set at 96 degrees and CANNOT be lowered. My brand new expensive unit is completely worthless in the desert. If a house is allowed to reach 96 degrees as a "safety" measure, someone at Google is missing common sense or is actually an employee of a power company. Numerous posts to the Nest website confirms this is a factory setting and that nothing the user can do will change it. I was therefore curious that you skipped over the "Cool to:" setting on your video.

Not sure. The thermostat is essentially a switch. So if you want to run the fan, when it reaches 65 degrees you could connect the R and W and it would turn on whatever you had connected when the temperature reached the setpoint you had indicated. thanks. easy to understand. i got to this page by accident. i was looking for info on how to fix something i just saw for the first time, after having the Nest for about a year and a half. All of a sudden, i was trying adjust the temperature, it's early September, over 100 degrees outside in Los Angeles and i wanted to turn down my thermostat to get the AC to come on. I only ever use the app on my iphone to adjust the temperature instead of the wall thermostat. i tapped on the down arrow to lower the temperature and at first it acted normal, 76, 75, but then, it jumped right from 75 to 73, so i tapped the up button, i wanted it at 74, but it jumped up to that 76 or even 77, it was making big jumps. ?? i tried to do it more carefully and at about that time, i noticed that on the white background just under the blue temperature number, 75 or whatever it was, there was a small word in gray text which said DELAYED. ? I was able to get it to the right temperature. i opened it and closed it and quit the app a braa nd restarted it and it still said DELAYED. i googled it. the links all said it was an easy fix but i had to install a C wire or obtain some appliance with brand name and install that. It said that the Next recharges its Lithium battery off of the HVAC or off the furnace, not from power lines. it said that could be a problem for some people. i never had this before and i don't know any of those things. i just wanted to know whether there was some way to fix it by rebooting the whole system. Or do i have to hire somebody? none of those answers said if there was an easier way besides installing a new wire to fix it .so i tried you tube and i enjoyed your video. Meanwhile the word DELAYED went away. So glad. as it turns out, an HVAC tech checked out my system a few months ago and said i had a carbon monoxide leak so he turned off my furnace. so i was afraid that this was why my Nest was saying Delayed since it can't recharge its battery off the furnace. i'm really glad it came back on , i need to have another opinion on whether i need a new HVAC or if whatever's wrong can be repaired, he emailed me photos, he said something was rusted and it might be cracked, i don't remember right now, i have a detailed email. anyway, it's good to have an online instruction source for my Nest now, thanks !!
