Nice storytelling,we sometimes especially in this age have so many different books and texts and internet saved pages etc ,that we are so busy me included of collecting more and more to learn more and more which sometimes can take us away from the basic simplicity of prayer of the heart which these 3 hermits had recited with such love for God that he had truly blessed them .
Glad you enjoyed it

00:00
A Bishop was sailing from Archangel to the Soul Yvette's Monastery when he noticed a group of men standing near the prow and listening to a fisherman who was telling them something. The Bishop stopped and looked in the direction of the man, but could see nothing.
02:05
The Bishop asked the man about the Hermits that live on the island, and the man pointed to a spot ahead and a little to the right that is the island where the Hermits live for the salvation of their souls.
03:08
I had long heard tell of them but never chanced to see them myself till the year before last. A fishermen related how once he had been stranded at night upon that island.
03:42
One is small and bent, wears a priest's cassock, is very old, and has a greenish tinge to his beard. The second is tall and has a yellowish gray beard, and is kindly and cheerful.
04:38
They did everything in silence and spoke little even to one another, but the oldest one took the tallest's hand and smiled and said have mercy upon us.
05:17
The Bishop wanted to land on the island and see the Hermits, but the ship could not get close to it. He asked the helmsman if it was true that there were Hermits who lived there for the salvation of their souls.
06:20
The bishop wanted to see the Hermits but the captain said it would take too much time and they were foolish old fellows who understood nothing.
06:58
The Bishop sat at the prow and watched as the sailors trimmed the sails, the steersman put up the helm, and the ship's course was set for the island. The passengers all gazed at the island and eventually saw the Hermits themselves.
07:59
The vessel can get no nearer in than this, your grace. If you wish to go ashore, we must ask you to go in the boat while we anchor here.
09:11
The unworthy servant of Christ wished to see the godly men and do what he could to teach them.
09:55
The Bishop smiled and said, you have evidently heard something about the Holy Trinity, but you do not pray a right You have won my affection Godly men, listen to me and I will teach you the way to pray.
11:08
The Bishop began explaining to the hermits how God revealed himself to men, and how he taught them to pray.
11:28
The Bishop taught the old men the Lord's Prayer by making them repeat it after him, and by correcting them when they blundered. The middle one was the first to know it and to repeat it alone, and at last the others could say it too.
13:05
The Bishop rose to leave the old men and told them to pray as he had taught them. As he sat in the boat, he could hear the three voices of the Hermits loudly repeating the Lord's Prayer.
13:51
The Bishop got on board the ship and watched the island they had left disappear from sight. He thanked God for sending him to teach and help such godly men.
14:50
The Bishop was thinking and gazing at the sea when he saw something white and shining on the bright path which the moon cast across the sea. He could not make out what it was, not a boat, nor a bird, nor fish.
16:02
Three Hermits were running on the water as though it were not morning, the steersman let go the helm in terror, the passengers jumped up and crowded to the stern, and the Bishop crossed himself and leaning over the ship's side, said, your own prayer will reach the Lord Men of God.
One of my favorites!

You know I think The hermits were the 3 Wisemen who delivered Christ his gifts upon his birth; Balthazar, Gaspar and Melchior!
Really?
Whenever you have some time, would you mind kindly share a list of other audiobook books that you’ve read on CZcams?

Thank you so much 🙏
God is there for those who believe 😀😄😀
I wonder if Tolstoy gathered this story from a Russian folktale or was at least inspired by one.
Thank you very much for listening and feedback! *_Tolstoy explores the nature of prayer. _* The hermits pray because they know God is listening to them. The bishop prays to impress God that he knows what he's talking about. The bishop is like the Gentiles who pray out of pride, thinking God will be impressed by their long prayers. The hermits are humble and know that God already knows what they need. We would be grateful to you for your opinion on not a new and all understandable initiative, namely the publication of short fragments of new audiobooks in video format. Tolstoy bears a strong resemblance to the guy on Duck Dynasty.
Nice observation, yeah. Phil Robertson! Doppelgangers happen!
@@PricelessAudiobooks The story keeps shutting off at 15:16. I guess I'll never hear the end of it.
Is this a Jewish classic or Slavic treasure or perhaps something much more
my video is cut short at 15:20, ahhhhhh hell
Thank you so much for listening and feedback!
No ending?
That's the end, isn't that in the audiobook? "While onboard, the bishop notices that their vessel is being followed. At first, he thinks a boat is behind them, but he soon realizes that the three hermits are running across the surface of the water "as though it were dry land." The hermits catch up to the vessel as the captain stops the boat and informs the bishop, "We have forgotten your teaching, servant of God. As long as we kept repeating it, we remembered, but when we stopped saying it for a time, a word dropped out, and now it has all gone to pieces. We can remember nothing of it. Teach us again." The bishop is humbled and replies to the hermits, "Your own prayer will reach the Lord, men of God. It is not for me to teach you. Pray for us sinners." After this, the hermits turned around and walked back to their island."
Very well narrated ... and a tale that aims to teach faith and morality. (However, too many fantastical tales smacking of "God's in His heaven and all's right with the world" do not help children or adults face the stark realities of life; in fact, they do a great disservice because such lessons must later be un-learned to survive in a world where evil is quite real.)
You're welcome! It's lovely that LibriVox volunteers dedicate their time and effort to bringing literature to life in audio format. Their work allows people worldwide to enjoy classic literature, regardless of their ability to read or access physical books. This significantly contributes to preserving and disseminating knowledge and culture for present and future generations. If you have any other comments or questions, feel free to share! 😊
We understand your perspective. Thank You! While tales of faith and morality can provide comfort and guidance, it's also important to acknowledge the complexities and challenges of the real world. Literature, including children's literature, can play a crucial role by presenting stories that reflect the diversity of human experiences and emotions. It can help prepare individuals to navigate the world with empathy, resilience, and critical thinking. However, the balance between presenting an ideal world and the stark realities of life can be a delicate one to strike. Your feedback is valuable and contributes to the ongoing conversation about the role of literature in shaping our understanding of the world.

Kind of like your criticism of it...
So win-win douche
There is most definitely meaning and quite plain at that. Maybe your heart is closed to it. Listen with love, not anger, and I'm sure you'll find the meaning therein.
