Hi again, just for info and to put into perspective the age and quality of that coin.
It was minted (made) over 1400 years BEFORE Columbus discovered America!
It was in circulation for around 100 years, passing through many hands and countries before ending up where it was found.
We can be sure of this as the dates of the other coins found would verify this.
So it went into the ground approximately 1300 years BEFORE The discovery of America and lay there until last year when me and my Brother in law found them.
Todays coins would be lucky to last or be in circulation for 20 years!!!
Glad to give something to someone who has provided quality fun and entertainment FOR FREE!!! for so long.
I'm a big fan of Brad and his channel, long may he remain.
I think we can call ourselves Bradologists…..
You're amazing, Mick. I hope to one day hear more about the other finds you have pulled out of the ground and what kind of hoard or settlement this coin was a part of. I can't thank you enough. This is a cool addition to my numismatic collection.
@@TheGuitologist Must be worth a bit or dinero.
That Roman coin is beautiful. My granddaughter found, while out walking with my daughter, a penny dating from the 1400s - amazing. (I live in Plymouth England).
gotta be on the south coast for that ;)
Yah, about the time you pulled out that Rush patch it was all she wrote. I'm in tears here. Saw them play 2112 all the way through in Minneapolis in '96. RIP Neil!
"Circle jerks..yeah I'm familar with them"😂😂😂😂
Brad, that dude actually sent you quite a few really cool records from what I was seeing. Awesome!
Thanks to whoever bought the cassette on bandcamp, 👍
Graham Oliver is the nicest guy. He sent me a couple of Hendrix stickers - the same art that is on his white Gibson SG. I posted a pic of my Vintage (brand) Graham Oliver signature SG and out of the blue he asked for my address and sent me the stickers!
Soup Dragons! That Hang Ten Record is from 1987. You may remember their early 90s hits "I'm Free" (Stones cover) and "Divine Thing". Similar to INXS / Jesus Jones.
I do remember them - especially I’m Free. Been singing that one a lot lately. I only knew their version of it! Thanks for the flashback!
I seen them live they opened for inxs in 92 or 93
Rocket Sockets and definitely the “Stop Resisting” on the right with the single cop.
Thanks Brad. Good to see you again! Have a great weekend and hope you/family are well.
WOW! Saxon! I was a huge fan back in the early ‘80s when I was in high school.
Saxon tour book is way cool! Saw those guys many, many times back in the eighties. Now ,I gotta crank up "Wheels of Steel" or maybe " The Eagle has Landed" .
Still have a Saxon tour book (Crusader tour '84) and a concert shirt! Almost all concert t-shirts were made from the cheapest materials. Wash a large size just one time and it will shrink to a small. I think most of my concert shirts would fit my 5 year old granddaughter just fine.
Power & the Glory is a fab record for sure.
I still sing 'Stop, Get Out!... we are the strong arm of the law!' every time I see someone pulled over by the police.
ROCKET SOCKETS...
Hey Brad, I'm a bit jealous of the Rob Zombie and White Zombie patches...Those are awesome! Keep rocking brother! 🤘🏻
Such a cool video. It is amazing what people send you. Restores my faith in humanity. Plus the Rocket Sockets are very cool.
Love the stop resisting stickers! The left looked better to me because of the leg over the resistor. Gave it depth.
I use rush patches as nametags on my work uniform lol i used to blare kshe 95 in my old dakota when i lived in the midwest used to love that station
K-SHE 95 is the only station with decent tunes in my area. I need to start scanning the AM stations. I won a Sweet Meat (K-SHE mascot) stuffed animal at a local theme park when I was a kid. The world was way cooler in the early '90s.
Hell yeah dude KSHE! Sweet Meat baby!
Those records are pretty good. A lot of college radio staples. A very nice collection. I know a lot of them. As an example, the Urban Verbs have a relationship with the Talking Heads, Chris Frantz brother to Roddy Frantz
@@thelokifiles 97.5 out of carlyle has those old school kshe vibes dont know how far it reaches towards st louis i believe it cuts out by mascoutah and lebanon
ROCKET SOCKETS !!!! Brad, dude... I want to say that your channel distinctly improves my quality of life. Thanks for providing consistently fascinating and informative content!! Cheers, Chris
Rocket Sockets, Always stoked to follow your channel. You are a comforting voice during the stay-at-home order here in VA. Thanks for keeping it real. Stay safe.
Rocket Sockets! Love your amp restoration videos. Thanks for being a bright light in everyone’s world.
Love Tractor! My friend here in Richmond, Armistead Wellford, is in the band.
Love Tractor is one of my all time favorite bands! GREAT MUSIC!! They are still performing, too!
That coimn is near mint and worth money. Seeing as it is almost 2000 years old.
@Bunty McCunty Where can I get cheap denari?
Most coins are worth money
@Ulf Knudsen 40-60 maybe
What a haul mate. You're all good with the rocket sockets ,cool idea! Stay safe bro
That is an exceptional collection of East Coast post punk and new wave. The “treat her right” record alone would be enough to make me float out of a record store if I found it. It’s Mark Sandman from morphine
Every time your video pops up I think 40 minutes, can I be bothered, I'll just watch the first 5 minutes and then I'm there at the end having thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Rocket Sockets ;-)
Thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed it. It's fun to use the stuff people send as a jumping off point for a conversation.
Hey, brad jumped the Train from Northampton to Birmingham in the U.K. (60miles) to watch Saxon when I was 14. Graham was playing that night. My first real gig. cool. 1984
Brad I have to say that your channel is my favorite music related channel. And I like Brad angove and CGS .
Brad, I love watching your fan mail video because you get such an awesome variety of memorabilia and rare things. Also, I've been looking for something like the Rocket Sockets, those are cool!!
I definitely need those Rocket Sockets for my repairs. Love those! Keep up the good work, Brad, love your channels.
Rocket Sockets are a cool looking product. They could come in handy for all kinds of projects.
HOLY ROCKET SOCKETS! I could really use a set of those those are awesome. Love the channel and can't wait to see what you do with the pickups. Love seeing the record collections.
Rocket Sockets - Great video Brad - nice to see the love being shown - best wishes
Rocket Sockets! Brad, thanks again for all your content! It truly is a bright spot for me.
Rocket Sockets... the Fleshtones were a very popular NYC club band... Wiki>>>> In the late 1970s, The Fleshtones earned a local following and played often in Manhattan at CBGB and Max's Kansas City. Later, they found a favorite venue at Club 57 on St. Mark's Place. The Fleshtones were the first band to be booked or to play at several famous venues, including Irving Plaza and Danceteria in Manhattan, Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey, and the original 9:30 Club in Washington D.C.
Rocket Sockets... Brad love your videos brother!! Being in the Navy and as an electronics repair technicians your videos and content keep me moving!! Keep up the great work! NAVY CHIEF! NAVY PRIDE!!
It must be like Christmas every day at your house. Lovely
"Rocket Sockets"!!! Need me a set!! Brad, if you ever have doubts, mail day ought to tell you folks really love your videos!
Rocket sockets are the shit. I love em! One of my best buys.
Yeah. I'm astounded by the generosity of my viewers.
Brad, I was up in the Boston area back in the 80s, about a month every year. I listened to Alt stations most of the time, so I probably heard a lot of that music. I don't remember names, but there was a lot of great local music back then! I hope you enjoy! BTW... I really appreciate the John Prine tribute! I didn't know you could sing!
Rocket Sockets ! The old tuner pedal rocks ! Love vintage gear, especially when it works
rocket sockets! That roman coin was a very cool. Thanks for sharing
Hey Brad. I still miss SPF. Hope you might try to bring it back one day. Until then, I will enjoy whatever content you put on your channel. Always a fan.
Rocket Socket! Every time I see you use those things I think they'd be super hand. Great video. Love viewer mail.
Some people have already commented that The Soup Dragons were an indie rock band from Scotland and back in the day I was at university here in England and they played there one night and I did a lot of the inhouse roadie-ing and sound for these uni gigs back then. However, they were playing Belgium or Netherlands or somewhere next day and packed up and left really quickly after the gig to catch a ferry and the guitarist left behind one of his Laney 4 x 12 cabs. Of course these were the days of no texts or emails or anything so we couldn't easily let them know. I did get a message to their record label but no one ever called back. So... this cab was 'in the way' so I gave it a good home. I even toured myself with it occasionally. Another band's guitarist borrowed it off me one time and, as is often the case, it became his as it were. It was quite a cool cab as, befitting their psychedelic indie image, it was spray painted in numerous gaudy colours. It sounded great too.
PS - if any old Soup Dragons get in touch Brad I'm sorry I've NO idea what happened to the cab. Or even who owns it (if anyone) these days!
Fun story!
Treat her right is Mark Sandman’s band before Morphine, great stuff!
I saw morphine in providence so so good.
Jonathan Richman was huge for a minute early in the eighties. Roadrunner the hit song. Brings back lots of memories
Want to have that Uncertain Smile EP Sooo Much - Some goodies in there for sure!
Rocket socket. Great video Brad! Loved that tuner
Rocket Sockets are awesome and so are vintage straps
As a fellow numismatist (coin collector) I love that Roman coin. Rocket sockets
I enjoyed seeing all the stickers and albums. Great video. Go Rocket Socket!! Those things look easy to use.
Graham Oliver is indeed a great guy, he followed my old Twitter years ago and would frequently converse about guitars, metal, etc.
That's Bitch'en Brad I saw Graham in Saxon on the Power & the Glory tour at the Santa Monica Civic w/ Armoured Saint opening, amazing gig !
Saxon is a great band, definitely a must in your classic metal collection. A lot of cool stuff, garage sale vibe with just cool stuff. The Rocket Sockets look cool too.
Love Tractor is a band from Athens, GA. They formed in the early 1980s while they all attended UGA in Athens. In 2015, now-retired REM drummer Bill Berry toured with them (apparently because they were friends who attended UGA at the same time). There are a few interesting live videos of Love Tractor on CZcams. Personally, I think that "Love Tractor" is one of the coolest band names of all-time. :) Their studio albums tend to be over-produced, which makes them sound dated and cheesy nowadays. The song "Party Train" is pretty cool. There is a recent (2016) full set of them performing in Athens, titled "Love Tractor @ Georgia Theater - Athens, Ga - Aug 13, 2016 in Full HD". The performance features the original line-up and a few special guests.
Love Tractor was a fantastic mostly instrumental Athens band. In the neighborhood of PYLON and REM which makes sense given the neighborhood.
Saw them play at the Cubby Bear in Chicago around 1984
Those were actually regular production meters, designed for automotive diagnostic use. They are probably from the '20s-'30s.
JMF Electronics was one of two Kansas-based amp manufacturers, the other being Kustom.
Looking forward to the Samick overhaul! Low budget stuff for those of us who make do with what we can (barely) afford.
Hey Brad Good video. I have been watching your show for over 4 years at least and just today finally subscribed, why i dont know most of the time i watch you tube info on my Xbox and TM.........very good info all the time. Also i noticed on this video the KSHE patches. Brings back many memories.. I live 60 miles east of St Louis, and recall the 70's and 80's listening to KSHE it was the ultimate Rock station, back then you could pick it up if you were lucky enough to have a good enough FM tuner, other than that it was KXOK am station. Cool Patches. Keep it coming. If you still work on amps i have a couple marshalls that may be coming up for some tune ups.
Jonathan Richman had a massive punk hit with Roadrunner - you have heard it :)
Love those Rocket Sockets - have seen you use them and they rock for sure!
Brad...I thoroughly enjoy all your videos. I tinker with old tube amps and guitars and have learned loaded from watching your videos. The Rocket Sockets look very handy. I’ll throw my name in the hat for one but either way...I’m going to snag a couple. Keep up the great work!!!
Rocket Sockets. Good haul, Brad. Must feel a bit like Christmas. That radio station patch with the hogs head is taken from the album cover of this British band called Blodwyn Pig who put out a couple of albums in the early 70s. It was created and lead by this British blues guitarist named Mick Abrahams who was the guitarist on the first Jethro Tull album, This Was. He was and is an outstanding blues-rock guitarist and BP also has jazz overtones with a reed player in the band. Worth checking out if possible.
I was Rockin Denim and Leather in early 80s !! SAXON!!! Awesome
I lived in Boston in 84-86, right around the corner from Berklee. Heard of some of those bands but was too young to get into clubs (legally) at the time. I will say that Treat Her Right is good stuff!
loved the "mini"tuner (rocket sockets)
Rock on Brad, keep keeping on!
Excellent cool as hell fan base. And Graham? It don't get much cooler. Loved Headbangers Ball on MTV early mid 80s w SAXON!!!! That JMF tuner...I think they made Spectre amps back in the late 70s. Had one. If memory serves me correct.
ROCKET SOCKETS!
Love your channel Brad! Keep up the great work!
Rocket Sockets rock! Thanks for the great videos, love the channel. Also, those Rush patches are soooooo coooool! Love Rush! Thanks.
That two-piece metal contraption that you did not know the purpose of is a stamp for making a wax seal on an envelope, a letter, or a door. They date back to the signet rings used by kings of old, and they are still made today as a novelty gift. I often used one to stick notes to my girlfriend's dorm-room door, so nobody would read the notes. :)
KSHE! The pig's name is "Sweetmeat"! It was The Fm Real Rock Radio station in the St. Louis area, in the late 60's- 70's. One of the most well know DJs from KSHE was "Radio Rich" Dalton. He is now in Steamboat Springs, Co., near me! I listen to him on " The River" and it's like have KSHE and St. Louis here in Co..My close friend, from St. Louis, bought a Gibson SG from McMurry music. It was the best music store to go to in ol' St. Lou! Great video Brad! Hi Chris from St. Louis! I lived there in the 70s. This video brought back tons of memories.Like Peaches records and tapes. I worked for St. Louis stereo! Toasted ravioli from "The Hill". Tons! Thanxz Oh Rocket Sockets!
Pocket socket. Hey brad thanks for everything you do love watching the channel and look forward to every episode you put out keep on rocking.....
Hi Brad. Gruen is Deutsch and it means green but now we write it: Grün. So 'ue' became 'ü'. All the best and grtx.
LOU MIAMI WAS A GREAT SHOW RIP LOU!!!!! Total blast from the past saw them many many times at the Living Room in providence. Think I'll queue some up right now.
Hey, a content request for something that I believe you have not done, but that you're kind of the rare master of. Would you make a video about your fingerpicking technique? You're a brilliant player and especially the way you use your nail as a pick for rock stuff as well. That's mighty impressive, you got the chops even without pick.
The reason why I'm asking is because I myself easily, even accidentally, grow long thick nails that don't get torn. This would make a great start for fingerpicking, but I can't make it sound good the traditional style, or work at all the way you do it. That's a lot about practice of course, but especially the thumb pick thing puzzles me. I've tried to figure out how to use it in comfortable angle and get a good picking action going. And hey, never losing your pick again.
I've been watching you and Andy Martin, "the pedal demo guy", do this great nail pick thing and being very impressed. I think you'd be able to share interesting and helpful tips about your rather unique style, or style that's getting more and more rare in this world of guitar playing. Like back in the past people have even told you to cut your nails just because they don't understand it's functional, not aesthetical (I guess being functional is a disappearing value today). Or because they're assholes online, who knows.
Anyway, get excited about this idea or not, thanks for the content you produce, this channel has become my daily/weekly routine quickly! Which is really funny, because the first time I started watching a guitologist video, I thought the content seemed interesting but the guy was annoying! Turns out staying for a couple of videos revealed more of where you come from and how your humor and person is like, and it all glued together. Cool guy with lots to say and teach. Your amp service videos have taught a great deal about safety of designs and practical things, so much that I got confident enough to consider building an amp kit and modding it, learning the theory alongside. But I digress hard, see you in the next video!
czcams.com/video/EZE0CTiuMn8/video.html
I really could use a set of those rocket sockets, I do a bit of guitar repair/ flea market flips on electrics and these would make life easier for sure Brad
The Jonathan Richman one is solid, former singer of the Modern Lovers of “Roadrunner” fame, the soup dragons album is solid too!
Rocket Sockets - I could use a set of those for amp/guitar work. Brad, keep the vids coming. Always enjoy your amp repairs and opinions on things. Stay Free brother!
Hey Brad, those Rock Sockets are so cool. The plastic socket set is better than metal wrenches or sockets....
Rocket socket! First time commenting on one of your videos brad! Long time watcher and student so thank you.
Both of the "Stop resisting!" stickers are amazing!
Rocket Sockets!!! I love your content man, keep up the awesome work and thank you!!!
Rocket Socket looks like a cool idea for me to check out. Thanks for the interesting and informative video, like always!
I found a JMF tuner on Ebay for not much $$. I like the analog tuners best.
Your fans like you a ton to send you all that electronic stuff. Those pocket sockets are dope!
Brad, I saw a bunch of those bands back in the day. You'll love that Dumptruck record - something I listen to frequently still. Big Dipper record is also great.
Rocket Sockets! Saxon Rules, I listen to them a lot in the late 70s, early 80s. Thanks Brad, I really enjoy your channel.
I wish i had a set of Rocket Sockets for my electronics shop set up. I could have used something like them to work on my car engine today. So many small fasteners.
Treat Her Right was one of the 80's bands that legendary Boston area musician Mark Sandman was part of. They were a rock band with the mantra, "No more gear than what you can carry into the venue in one(1) trip." As such, they would sound like what you would expect. Lo-fi rock-n-roll in a garage rock vein. I believe they were a four piece with a harp player. You can find some of their stuff on CZcams. Good music without a hint of pretension, this band's demise led to the formation of one of the greatest alt-rock power trios of all time: Morphine. The incredible(and tragic) saga of Morphine can be found in the movie, "The Mark Sandman Story"...not to be missed!
Cool. I’ll search that out.
czcams.com/video/8KkUINW0rg0/video.html
Yeah I’d like to see and hear those pickups! I think it would make a cool video. Lots of cool stuff like Guided by Voices. “Rocket Sockets”
My first 'pro' gig was in 1979 ( I was 12 ) - Dundee, Caird Hall, Nazareth with Saxon ( and Graham!! :-) ) supporting .
Awesome gig and start of a lifelong passion for live music.
Cheers Brad :-)
Rocket Sockets
A Zappa patch! That part of the video just made my day.
I went to McMurray Music growing up in St. Louis. McMurray and St. Ann Music had deals with Pattonville school district to give discounts on band instruments and repairs. I bought a boat load of alto reeds from McMurray. My only knock against McMurray Music is that the band instruments and sheet music was on the first floor and the pro shop was on the second floor and Jim McMurray wouldn't let me go up stairs as I was just a high school saxophone player. They are out of business today. Also the radio station KSHE is pronounced "Kay-She."
Rocket Sockets look killer ! Can't miss those ! Very cool green .
Rocket Sockets! DIY Pedal builder would definitely put them on good use.
I would love a set of Rocket sockets and/or Kalium Strings , what a great idea and giveaway
rocket socket ... that Visigoths record album I.B.B.Y. i think is referencing Major Mudd , a local boston personality that was always saying ..." I'll Be Blasting You" when he signed off his tv show
Interesting. Thanks.
Rocket sockets
The The 'Uncertain smile' was their first hit in the Uk. Jools Holland plays on it. Really cool song , capoed on the second fret. Db ( B, you get the idea) to G#, B to F#, melody is found utilizing what is now the open F# and Db strings.
Here is a sample of the opening lyrics:-
Peeling the skin back from my eyes
I felt surprised that time on the clock was the time that I usually retire
To a place where I clear my head of you
But just for today, I think I'll lie here and dream of you.
😎🎙✅
Man, that ancient coin was cool! I have a metal detector but a modern quarter is my most valuable find. Sticker on the right was better but both were funny for a couple of reasons. Rocket Socket, hells yea.
At about 7:41, Treat Her Right had a regional hit with the song "I Think She Likes Me ( that's what I think)", a moody, menacing harmonica and slide-guitar driven tune about meeting a flirtatious woman in a bar only to find out that her husband is also in the room.
Rocket socket! That was a fun unboxing! Thanks for sharing
McMurray Music was one of St. Louis' oldest and largest music stores for decades and myself and many others bought tons of gear there with good service and great prices. Until the owner turned it over to his kids and they spent tons of money remodeling and expanding the store. Once the 'new' McMurray was open to the public it didn't take long before they became known as "McMarkup" with their high prices and high-pressure sale tactics. I'm not sure how long exactly, but within 3 or 4 years of the kids ruining a great thing they went out of business and we lost a great spot for music and audio gear that we had for many many years. Lesson to be learned there.
Interesting. That's an interesting story. Most kids just run companies into the ground through other means.
@@TheGuitologist Yeah, it is actually pretty sad the way it turned out. I think the kids were well intentioned
as they spent lots of time and money expanding the sales floor and adding more pro-audio gear as well as training/classrooms. But, in the end, they simply overpriced everything and ruined a great environment for local musicians to both shop and hang-out. I bought my first guitar there back in the 80's, sad to see it go honestly.
Well said Abe. My older brother speaks about going there a bunch but I never understood how. When I was getting into a band, the sticker shock combined with no haggling made them just a landmark when giving directions because of the big guitar out front. I don't think I even bought a pick there.
