The weighting and accuracy of his passes is good, but I invite you to look at where opposition midfielders are when he does it. Especially at Blackburn/championship level, there is hardly any pressure on him or the ball when he picking out a pass. Technically, don't get me wrong, he's very good, and being a left footer certainly helps. I'm not convinced he is elite level, but happy to be proven wrong if he indeed does the business for England this summer.

Wharton is always aware of the gaps left by a press & can find that space very easily & accurately with either foot. It’s one of the reasons why the Palace front 3 have been so dangerous since he arrived

If you watched Arsenal for 40 years, which I highly doubt, you would already know this. Saying Petit wasn't aggressive is like saying Roy Keane was mild tempered.

He is a good passer of the ball especially long diagonals, but absolutely not what united are looking for we lack dynamism athleticism and speed in the midfield this dude is the complete opposite of what we are looking for. I think we should break the bank for Joao neves that guy fits what we need like a glove.
