Lyrics:
All through the night
I'll be awake and I'll be with you
All through the night
This precious time when time is new
Oh, all through the night today
Knowing that we feel the same without saying
We have no past we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends there is no end - Hudba
Happy Anniversary to "All Through The Night." xox
One of my favorite songs.
🥺
Those were the days Cindi.... If only we could have stayed in that time. :)
Thanks Cyndi, this beautiful song takes me back to 1984 when I was 7 years old and played with my friends from the neighborhood while your voice sounded on my neighbors' radios. I would like to feel that magic of those years again at least for a second.
Cyndi lauper eu amo você e essa Música!!???
I can smell the 1983 air, what it smelled like outside, when I hear this song. Triggers sensory memories as well as emotional ones. Love it. Life was so simple. Occasionally I weep for the past, especially lately with all the chaos in the world.
1984 actually.May of that year.
@@plawson8577 I had the album, which was released in 1983. I believe you are referring to when this song was released on the radio as a single, but the album had been out since 83.
Couldn't have said it better my friend - 80's teen here, now aged 52...
80s smell... Pre-rainstorm ion-charged air, misty forest stream air, Saturday morning Eggo waffle air...
Ah, 80s chaos was so much better, when there was only the threat of global nuclear war and AIDS to worry about!
We were eating last night in a restaurant / Casino and this song came on all through the night and I was so choked. It brought back such wonderful memories but I couldn't stop crying my mother is gone my father is gone and so is my middle brother. My sister had a stroke a few months ago he just brought back so many wonderful memories that my heart aches does anyone else feel the same with nature music from the past? Or am I being too silly? Music will never be the same like it was in the late 70s 80s and 90s thank you all for reading this and forgive me for my emotions.
Quando a música nos faz lembrar coisas boas do passado, dá vontade de ficar ouvindo sempre, principalmente a noite, quando temos tempo pra refletir.
Never bottle it 😔 it's better to share.
We are two...here in Brazil
I love it that us gen xers have so much emotions and we express that I'm a big guy and I cry because of how great the 70s and 80 s memories were they were unbelievable
Its happened to us all...as we are human and realize that life goes oh so fast....
She was so much better than Madonna but she never got the recognition. She is such a better singer and artist
Agreed.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Também acho ela muito superior à Madona.🇧🇷
Madonna had her place, though.
Way better than Madonna in my opinion too . But she got a lot of recognition .
I love Cyndi Lauper a hundred times more than Madonna.
She's so adorable.
But she's not better, judt different.
How many awesome songs has Madonna had from the 80's up to now ?
But Cyndi Lauper is My favourite
Her songs make us more emotional ❤
All through the night
I'll be awake
And I'll be with you
All through the night
This precious time
When time is new
Oh, all through the night today
Knowing that we feel the same without saying
We have no past, we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends, there is no end
All through the night
Stray cat is crying
So stray cat sings back
All through the night
They have forgotten
What by day they lack
Oh, under those white street lamps
There is a little chance they may see
We have no past, we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends, there is no end
Oh, the sleep in your eyes is enough
Let me be there, let me stay there a while
We have no past, we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends, there is no end
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends, there is no end

Cyndi Lauper deserves to be in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame..80’s was best decade ever for music and she was a big part of it. She was very iconic during that time.
Someday she will be in. She finished 2nd in the voting behind George Michael.

I'm a metalhead, but grew up listening to Cyndi. She was the 80's and this was my favorite song that she did. The way she holds that note at the end still gives me chills...😊
I was an 80's Metal Head but I totally appreciated Cindi for this song. It really shows the range she had and that she has one of the most beautiful voices ever.
And She is a punk head now 😛

Yeah, Sabbath, Zeppelin and many others but when Cyndi made a good one everyone was like "okay, cool tune"
One of my disabled patients would always describe this song as "the pretty song that goes slow and then fast" which always made me smile.
i, too, have met a lot of patients with disabilities, and just like you, when i hear them say something is 'pretty' or 'beautiful' it never fails to make me smile, but for some reason also makes me shed a tear or two, i don't really know why..
1983
What a wonderful comment... Thanks a lot. There's doctors. All professionals. But then, there's also those that by working and caring for special needs people, somehow touch the patient's heart and get to hear from time to time, the music that touch their souls in such a way that the most simple expression contains a world of love and life meaning. Congratulations. You, yeah you...
Quien me dice , que paso con ella. Buena música la conocí fue hoy.

This song has remained my favorite song since it came out originally. I believe it is the absolute quintesentially perfect pop song.
The 80's was a moment when time stood still and we had the best of the past and the present without the future. It was the best time to be young!
The 80s had NOTHING on the 90s.
@@JloveLamar You are joking???? The '90s was the begging of the end for music...
I can appreciate this...but I am honestly glad I was BORN in 1987...not a teen or young at that age. With that being said, this song is AWESOME.
I think we all miss those days damn how time flys by
Okay, we can be objective here. The 90's were the last era before pop took over everything and everything became a the same 3 or 4 chord progressions. Since the 90's things have been simplified. Now, the 80's were still learning synth and electronic implementations. If you factor in videos and everything like that, I'm sorry, I just don't see how you can say that the 80's music scene was better than the 90's. That style was such a flash in the pan compared to the 90's, too. This is one of my favorite songs and I'm an 80's kid but if I'm going to be real, the scene and music in the 90's was much more diverse and well made than the 80's. It all peaked there. Since then, it's just the same tunes. I don't even blame the 2000's because they found the formula. What sucks is that today you have to search for good music because today's music is so simple and repetitive based off of that formula. They all copy each other and do the same crap, these days. EDM, repetitive in it's individual songs, does well these days because it's the only place where experimentation is allowed and you hear different tones. Sad. We lost things like Cindi. We lost new things. Btw, the drugs were better too. 80's had coke. 90's had E. Try them both and tell me which was better. ;) No matter enjoy what you like. Put a smile on your face because in the end, the only thing that matters is how many times that happens in your life.
Nothing but childhood memories in the 80s . A kid in the back seat with no sense of geography or direction, just lost in the music staring out the window
right on
you said it 👍

I still have an original cassette of Cindy Lauper's music. It's been in the family for, gosh, 40 years! Earlier this year I purchased an old cassette player and listened to the whole album. When this particular song played I broke down and cried. I remembered falling asleep to this song when I was 2, maybe 3 years old. And 40 years later, as a middle aged man, I still like listening to this song whenever I'm tired and need to de-stress from the outside world.
And I don't know if it's long too late to reach out, but Ms. Cindy, thank you! I'll do my best to keep that cassette going another 40 years.
me too
I am 40 and I used to hear this song as a kid. My mom played this and other 80s songs, but this one for some reason stuck with me and bring back really relaxing memories. I have been trying to figure out what song this is I would even kind of sing it to ask my mom what song it was and the chorus popped in my head and I put that in youtube and here I am listening to it.
I was driving in my car on a dark starry night with my first love, and this song came over the radio as we paused to take it all in. I'll never forget that memory.

in the 80s it was common to see punks, when i was a kid i loved their aesthetics, never saw cindi as a pop figure like Madonna she always represented to me rebel side, dream side and honest side of music, her music had that new wave punk pop dream feel. she was def no clone, that's why she lasts. thank u for ur gift cindi.
Girls Just Want to Have Fun was an anthem for young girls at the time.
When I was a teenager in the 80's I hung out with the metal heads, we listened to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. But I had a Cyndi Lauper cassette tape that I listened to when no one was around. I've always thought she was amazing.
I'm the same except for now instead of the 80s. We always would listen to Metallica and megadeth and such but I always had a thing for Cyndi Lauper
Can't believe you outed yourself. lol Never had the album/cassette, but it was great to hear her on the radio when they played her. This song wasn't as popular as most of her other hits, but I always liked this the most. Well, Time After Time pretty much a tie. In the 80s, there were lots of people who liked the whole spectrum. Don't feel bad. You're not alone.
that's awesome! I was the same but instead of Cyndi Lauper a buddy of mine found a New Kids cassette in my pocket LOL. busted.
I was in High school years were in the 80's. Manudo was my secret tape lol. Hadn't thought about that in years...

I have to listen to this at least once a week . In 83' I was 10 years old and listend to the radio and cassette tapes that my older brothers and sister bought . My sister was 16 and my brothers 14 and 12 . We were shocked when our Dad brought this record album home . We just thought that he was the uncool old guy in his late 30's at the time . Anyone in their 30's was old and out of touch , right ? He bought this and played this song over and over on his giant wood Zenith stereo in our living room . He still loves this song at 77 years old as do I at 51 years old . He shocked us even more when he bought Van Halen's JUMP 45 record . Lol .

Her message still stands: Be yourself and express yourself in ways that are unique to your own interpretation of the world. And don't apologize for it, either.
Absolutely!!! Always be yourself... ;)

thank you. it's about love when you know that person might die of another heart attack
When I was 5 years old I used to listen to this record endlessly. I'm 41 now..the nostalgia is amazing!!
I'll be 41 this year and I couldn't agree with you more!!
You must be a 1980s baby like me. Im 41 as we speak
Same here 41.. 80's had such great music growing up.
yah man! me 24
hello baby kisses
Love you Cyndi! Grew up listening to this as a little kid and I’m 42 now still on repeat on my playlist. ❤
Cheers!
When she does that last chorus and holds that note for 20 beats it gives me chills up and down my spine, then she hits those high notes at the end and the vibrato in her voice is so beautiful. I always have to hear the end a few times.
Only music like this has the ability to bring back the most powerful emotions from childhood whether they be good or bad.

I miss being a kid. The 80s were an incredible time
Living in northern Ireland during bombing shootings and the music from the 80"s 90's and 2000 took us away from it all.
Yeah,we when would play outside, none of this of playing video games, like what kids do now, todays kids, would have never survived the 80s,like cell phones,I never had a cell phone when I was a kid,yes there where cell phones back then, but they where as big as a brick and cost over 1000 dollars, back then that was alot of money, anyhow, like I said, kids today, would have not servived the 80s.
I miss it too. I had a really tough time. Kids can be cruel and the world can be too, but at the same time i had a lot of good moments.
I agree with you though Cyndi is a few years older than I am, not by much. The 80s will always be remembered to be the best years ever. From my understanding the 70s and before was no comparison and the 90s and after were for sure no comparison for sure. The 80s was indeed the best decade to live through without question. My childhood was complete in these years. I made one of the USA National teams in the last year's of the 80s after winning national tournaments all through the mid 80s as a young teen and once I made the national team living at the Olympic training center in Colorado springs after relocating there from Florida immediately the day after I graduated high school as my parents would not send me until I graduated and I am actually happy they did not, I was about to tour America, Canada and Europe enjoying my time with all of you in our age group from a wide variety of cities & towns everywhere during my time off from the team that made it just that more enjoyable spending the time with you all.
I personally want to thank you all for the wonderful times you all shared not only with me but with each other in the 1980s, thank you so much. May I ask all of you what year each of you graduated in? I graduated here in Florida in 1987 myself.
did you have kids? What do they think of your music?
Reading through all these comments and I can relate to the majority of them. This is my favorite Cyndi Lauper song. It opens my mind to my childhood. Thanks for such a beautiful song.
Que SAUDADE dos anos 80
For those that are meeting Cyndi Lauper for the first time because of Bly Manor: do yourselves a favor and listen to this album. And her other albums. We are talking about one of the most incredible singers this world has ever had
When I was a young kid growing up in the 80's, I used to play this song over and over. There is something just so mesmerizing and emotional about the instruments and the vocals together. ♥️
This song is magic. Every time we hear it our childhoods automatically appear again ❤️
Tears welling in my eyes as I’m working out at the gym listening to this. Cyndi Lauper is just so special.
Melhor música da Cindy Lauper.
Esse agudo no teclado é muito lindo.
E o baixo tb não deixa a desejar.
🇧🇷
Verdade , o agudo no teclado era coisa muito mais futurístico e legal do que os solos de teclado ruins de hoje em dia
quantos sucessos que está mulher tem vários.
I'm 50 years young every time I hear this beautiful masterpiece! Truly, a brilliant Melody.
I'm a 2000 Kid and I've falling in love with this 80s song ❤️
I miss the 80's! Possibly the best decade of music! Seems like everything was better during that time!
We have no past, we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends, there is no end
Thank you! It's beautiful.
Linda música 💖💖💖💖💖💖 saudades de tempos bons que não voltam mais 😭😭❤️❤️❤️
Sim…. Éramos tao felizes….
Eu sinto muita saudade dessa época, nunca mais voltará!

Brings back memories of my school dances back in the early 80s seems like a hundred years ago this song still sounds great
I hear Cyndi’s songs. I was an ‘80’s kid. Loved her, really was a metal guy. But this song reminds me (along with her other songs) of wanting to be older and do “older kid” things!! Now I’d give almost anything to be back, listening to the radio with friends at a sleepover or something just jamming to the great sounds of the 1980’s!! So nostalgic. Never gets old to me.
