- Bromley High Street South 1986. Notice that Rymans is one of the very few shops still there today since 1986, and in its original position on the Broadway. Gas Showroom where KFC is now, edge of The Mall. Superdrug nearby, it’s now in The Glades, Pizza Hut, British Telecom (notice they had two buildings in the town centre then, and now none), Barclays Bank, Halifax Building Society, Bloomfield bakers, Dewhurst butchers, Millwards, Doland and Aitcheson Opticians, Alliance and Leicester Building Society, SpecialEyes (what ever happened to them?), Millets, C&A. #bromleyhighstreet #bromleyhistory #bromleynostalgia #lostshopsofbromley

@@Multimine Yes either way.
Our family business at 1:55 My dear old Dad would no doubt have been in there when this was filmed.
Once Wasnt a bad place to live
The days when TV was good.
Werent people paying for tv licensing back then
@@EasilyCringed Yes they were. But TV was of much better quality back then. It was before the unfortunate fad for "reality TV" shows which didn't start until the 90s (certainly the later 90s) There was colour TV but not stereo yet which was still in the pipe line. We would have to wait another 4 years or so till then when we (that could afford it) could rush out and buy our NICAM Digital stereo TVs! Another exciting development was the flatter squarer tube (FST) TVs which also started to appear in the later 80s.
Hard to believe it was videoed 37 years ago. Still looks very modern.
It was 1986, not 1886.
I always remember it as being quite a fancy place, the now pedestrianised high street is better but it’s also quite soulless now too. At least Rymans is still there!! Lol
Way before the invasion safe days
