Agreed, white gives WVU more explosive juice, and they will need to try to get PSU out of position with given psu’s aggressive style and hit big plays off that. White helps with that compared to Donaldson who is more of the power guy.

Expecting to see some two back sets with them this year tho. The new Penn state OC definitely worries me with what He did the last time he was in Morgantown, Kansas was scoring at will that game! Great breakdown fellas.. Now hold my beer.. West Virginia returns around 70% of their starters from last season while Penn St. returns around 50%. West Virginia has invested a ton into that secondary, they brought in some stud CBs from Northwestern.. I’ve watched film on a lot of these guys and I’m telling y’all this defense is gonna be good.. Ayden Garnes and Kekoura Tarnue are gonna be absolute studs CBs.. LB Josiah Trotter might end up being the best LB we’ve had in 10 years, his brother just got drafted last season. coach Brown is moving our best returning Safety Aubrey Burks to Spear if that tells ya anything.. Our best RB Jaheim white didn’t even play in that game last season.. An upset is very possible in this one I’m tellin y’all

WVU built their preseason perception (pretense?) on a season playing the bottom of the Big12. Psu isn’t a bottom half team.

Penn State leads the series 49-9-2. PDU has much better talent and a dominating defense. There’s a reason they are a 10.5 point favorite even in Morgantown.
The WR room wasn’t that bad last year. It was the first part of the season and when they put the younger guys in permanently it got a lot better. Traylon Ray and Hudson Clement aren’t out there dropping balls guys….
@@TheYates27 Totally agree, two of the WRs that played against Penn st left the team right after this game because our freshman beat them out.. We also had a CB that got his job taken after being out of position and giving up 2 TDs in that game. These are things people from outside WVU don’t know. Plus our RB Jaheim White didn’t play that game either.. It’s literally not even the same team

If the Mountaineers could slay Goliath…let’s face it, Penn St is and always has been WVU’s boogy man. Couches would burn all over the country. I was a middle schooler and in attendance when WVU beat them in 84 and that was nuts.

If these is one things I learned from WVU last year is to not count them out. Week 1 in Morgantown is going to be rocking as well

Its def a tough game for WVU and will require them to deploy a more balanced attack on offense. I think Greene takes a big step forward in his second year, no longer throwing the ball to 3 true freshmen which should all improve(Ray, Clement, & Gallanger), White's game expands to also be a threat out of the backfield, Bray & J Robinson WR portal additions offer some meaningful production, Taylor improves and is a dependeable 3rd down option at TE for Greene, and a healthy CJ. I think Greene's production this year takes a big step forward not just because of his individual improvement but also all the talent around him improving.
With as much change to this PSU team(roster, staff, concepts), I think it could be a few qtrs before they find their timing & rhythm. I have WVU winning in a close upset. WVU 34 - PSU 30. I think WVU takes advantage of a slow start for PSU, but PSU come back around the start of the 4th qtr to make it a hard fought game.
WVU returns a lot on defense, and also added some quality pieces in the portal. I think this defense plays much better this year, which is also helped by a balanced offense that will help slow the game down and maintain superior ToP in most games. This game however is not one where WVU can just grind it out in the running game. Theyll need to be more balanced, make some big plays, and maintain good efficiency/consistency.
If this game was played as the 3rd or 4th game of the season I think PSU would win, as I do think this PSU team will continue to improve as the season progresses. However opening week in Morgantown with a new offense and a new defense, while theres is a film advantage for Andy K, can PSU take advantage of that and come out being in sync.
Overall itll be a close game, def one of the best matchups in the first week.
When WVU was balanced on offense they looked awfully good. If Greene can be efficient and they can threaten that aggressive Penn st defense in a variety of ways I think WVU has the chance to put some points on the board and put some pressure on a PSU offense that has to prove they are revamped with kotelnicki taking the wheel. Also a tough environment to break in a new system, I know it’ll be rocking in Morgantown
Lifelong Penn State fan,age 60. This is a great test for us. I've been preaching for months that WVU is a legit contender for a league title. Morgantown is a hornets nest and we know that (least we older ones do,lol). I've also said that WVU's offense will carry this team for a few games and once the defense catches up,look out. I truly believe that. That all being said, Penn State wins this game in the fourth quarter,35-21. Can't wait to get started!

PSU fan. Total respect for WV. In fact, I started following them after that game and became a fan last year. Great potential with Greene at the helm. I don't think WV D will be able to handle Andy K. and his creativity. We still have lots of question marks at WR but our D should be top 5 again. 34-16 is my prediction.

Coach K running the offense is a game changer for this team. Nobody seems to be talking about it, but if he can get the most out of this PSU offense we are looking at one of the most dangerous teams in the country.

Penn State does not have Daniels as their QB.
Coach K has done it without JD6. In fact, most of his accomplishments have been without him. He’s done it run heavy and pass heavy. They probably won’t use “Smoke Break” the first week, but there’s plenty. It is also a really easy install so after a spring and preseason, there’ll be plenty.
Franklin might not have beaten the big 2, but he/they have certainly lived up to expectations beating the rest.

WVU had a really good O-line last year, they lose 3 starters. Will be interesting to see how they handle Penn States deep D-line. Only chance WVU has is if Penn States offense is worse than last years somehow and I think it will be much more explosive and aggressive with new OC Andy Kotelnicki, because I don't see WVU moving the ball on offense much at all. Excited to go to this game and see how the energy compares to Penn State!

I won't be shocked if Penn State wins, but steam roll? First game of the year coming off a great season, the Mountaineers and Milan Puskar Stadium are going to be juiced. Penn State didn't really start turning it up on an untested WVU team in Beaver Stadium until the 4th quarter last year. Got a slice of humble pie waiting for August 31st, I'll even keep it warm for you!
