    Just purchased a Girsan MC P35 and checked my magazine height vs this one. My magazine does have some movement when seated, and my measurements ranged from a high point of 4.572mm (.180") to a low point of 4.953mm (.195"). I have tested my Girsan with a fully loaded magazine and even when pushing the bottom of the mag tight against the bottom of the grip and hitting the slide stop I have not been able to reproduce the malfunction you experienced in this video.
    Edit: Was just looking at my Girsan again with the slide installed and locked back, looking in to the rear part of the chamber area the bottom of the breech face sits over the forward part of the sear with what appears to be about a 1mm gap. The back of the magazine (when pushed up from the bottom) does not protrude above the forward edge of the sear and does not appear as though it would (or could) cause any interference with the slide moving forward.

    Great analysis of that pistol Mark! I am glad you track down the cause of that slide release issue. I thought it was going to end up being heat related, but what you found made a much easier fix. Thanks for the great videos!

    I Just bought an MC P35 last week and want to use it as a CCW. This series has been a Godsend and a wealth of information on the HP in general and the Girsan MC P35 in particular. I really appreciate the effort you put into this series! I'll be in touch with BHSS in the next week or so to ask some questions and order some parts.

    Did Girsan address the issues with the Slide Stop and the positioning of the Magazine Catch hole in the later models that are being produced in late 2023? I have two of the standard MC P35's (both purchased late Fall 2023) and in both, the issues with the Slide Stop not moving freely, and the Slide not not fully closing when depressing it when a fresh magazine is inserted are not present. I have replaced the Guide Rod with an FN/Browning OEM Guide Rod. I am using the Girsan OEM Slide Stop. Springs are all BH Spring Solutions.

    Are there any after market sights for the Girsan? Or will any browning high power sight work. I’m looking for some type of fiber optic sight. Not interested in a night sight option. Thanks for very informative videos.

    So basically BOTH the SA-35 AND the Girsan have many issues which add substantially to their cost to fix. Glad I got My Hi-powers before they were discontinued! Looks like CZ-75 from now on!!!

      The P35 Ops I just bought is built incredibly well for a $700 gun, and some of the parts like the slide stop were improved with that model.

  • @rickyarias
    @rickyarias Před rokem +5

    You guys realize none of these are problems really?..... This is a custom shop selling parts. So their barrel for example is almost as much as the entire girsan. their parts list here is more than buying most guns.
    The factory gun is "fine". Mine out the door was $560... Their barrel is $350 alone... This guy is being snobby because they want to charge you to "fix" these "problems". Mine is solid for a $500 gun.

  • @robinj.9329
    @robinj.9329 Před 2 lety +4

    Nobody wants to invest in a brand new gun, that immediate needs a few hours of skilled TLC by an expert Gunsmith!
    Weather your spending $500. or $5,000.
    So......
    I'll just wait untill the manufacturer has worked all those "bugs" out before I lay my cash on the counter.
    THANKS !

    What do you think of the new FN 17 round Hi-Power improved and modified model upgraded and in stainless steel? I like a Hi-Power in stainless steel. I will get one if I can and get it ported by Mag-na-port.

    • @jb6027
      @jb6027 Před 2 lety +5

      Jeffrey, I am a big fan of Mag-na-port since the 1970s and I have several of them. While it works well, it works best with high pressure rounds like .357 Mag, 44 Mag, etc., because it relies on ported high pressure gassed to push the muzzle down.
      I wouldn't bother doing Mag-na-port with a 9mm, which is already a low recoil round. Also, with semi-autos you'll get all kinds of crud inside the slide that wouldn't be there otherwise. Hope you find your new model FN High Power very soon. Stainless?

    • @jeffreylocke8808
      @jeffreylocke8808 Před 2 lety +1

      @@jb6027 stainless steel is my choice for the new FN. In a 9mm mini porting helps. The new Sig Sauer Spectra XL Comp uses the slide ported with an expansion chamber but the barrel is not ported itself.

      I think the new FN wonder-gun is a half pound heavier, empty, than the actual Hi-Power - the slide has been widened. I'm assuming this is another replay of Browning's 1911-22: First model was metal frame and the next 129 models have all been plastic...which I guess made it okay to go straight to plastic for the 1911-.380. Take another look at the new FN - and imagine when the frame is plastic, it won't look much different as far as I can tell......
      As seen on HRFunk's recent review of an actual HP full or BH's components, compared to a stock BHP, we've managed to shed a half-ounce of weight...which is not much but seems like the right direction to be headed with a 21st Century HP.
      The new single-action FN is 49 oz fully loaded. Which....when I realized that and finished using all my fingers and toes to add that up....realized that's more than 3 lbs. And then I imagined having 12 Quarter Pounders and a small fry hanging from my belt.....that is a big boy! Can't wait to see how they got all that weight in there!

  • @DavidBrown-it9ig
    @DavidBrown-it9ig Před 2 lety

    Do any actual Browning/FN Hi-Powers display issues you discuss about the Girsan?

    • @bhspringsolutionsllc555
      @bhspringsolutionsllc555  Před 2 lety +3

      No. The short-comings in the Girsan MC-P35 are unique to the Girsan. We've never seen an FN/Browning HP with these same issues. However, that is not to say that FN/Browning HPs don't have room for improvements - they have room for improvements top to bottom and back to front. The most expensive deficiency in the Girsan that we tested, and I emphasize "in the Girsan we're still testing".....the factory barrel doesn't shoot to the point of aim or even anywhere close to it. And we took some criticism for not going ahead and continuing to test with the Girsan original barrel. When we installed a BHAdvanced Barrel for Hi-Powers, the Girsan instantly shot to point of aim. We have nothing to prove by shooting ammunition out of a barrel with a bore that's not drilled straight - and to be honest, I don't have any interest in shooting anything that doesn't deliver bullets where I aim the sights - and I guess since we pay for every round we send down range....we consider it our choice to test with components that are made correctly and exhibit correct function.......
      With the Girsan barrel, we couldn't find the paper at 15 yards - we installed a BHAdvanced Barrel, loaded the gun, and the first shot delivered through the center of the bullseye. If every problem a guy ever had could be solved THAT easily.......the ulcer-medication makers would go bankrupt. Take care......

      @ljones4203 Před 2 lety

      @@bhspringsolutionsllc555 your video showed you had good grouping with the factory barrel but didn’t adjust the sights for point of impact. Your comment here seems disingenuous. We can buy a new barrel, or just drift the sights a little bit it seems.

    • @bhspringsolutionsllc555
      @bhspringsolutionsllc555  Před 2 lety +3

      @@ljones4203 Please, nobody go trying to drift the front or rear sight on any Hi-Power platform pistol. That idea is going nowhere except possibly to the BHService Dept to fix the damage such attempts WILL cause.
      Lukas, you are correct that the Girsan OEM Barrel did group okay - left and low of the point of aim. You have never done that before on any Hi-Power with Mark III dovetails. They've been installed by all manufactuers with something comparable to Red or Green Loctite....and for good reasons. Replacement Sights for those same dovetails always instruct (require) installation with Loctite 609. So, once you've got that drift right - plan to also shoot at the same distance because once you move the target nearer or further away, that's a different "drift". It was also shooting low - there is no adjustment solution for that with the OEM fixed sights.
      We installed the BHAdvanced Barrel and the Girsan shot to the point of aim of the sights. Our term for this is: Correct Function.
      We've performed sight replacements on over 100 Hi-Power slides in the past year. Almost without exception, when both the OEM front and rear sights using the Mark III dovetails are moved with a sight pusher - heavy duty force is required and the sight releases with a definitite "pop" sound, which is the Loctite seal breaking. This is not Dowel-Rod + Tack Hammer territory. The BHService Dept has been servicing Hi-Power Owners' pistols since 2016. To date, we have never drifted any sight to attempt the resolve an accuracy problem UNLESS the sights on the Hi-Power aren't centered...which would be a causative of an accuracy problem, and require an uninstall and a corrective full reinstall including Loctite. "Drifting" sights on any Hi-Power does not exist in the playbook.
