Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed the Video! What do you think Brian could press in his prime?
7-8 reps with same weight...with a *FULL Brian, of course 👍
@@everythingstrength1485 seems fair
Maybe 1 or 2 more reps with the 200s?
What’s almost as impressive is how easily he places them back on his legs when he’s done
I'm calling Shaw the "anti-Castleberry" because I gotta say... after watching others doing the 'influencer style form' (one poorly executed, limited range of motion, jerky "lift" and then immediately dropping the weight from feet in the air with dubious weights) this was a quality rep with real weights by a legit strongman. Impressive---just hard work no cheat impressive.
He had 2 left in the tank on both occasions tbh, unbelievably strong
the even more impressive is how he gently putting those heavy dumbbells down after that hard heavy presses.
Let's not forget how he cleaned and incline pressed INCH dumbells
The "Shaw" Press is one of the most impressive lifts I've ever seen. I want it to be a standard strongman competition one day
I'm more impressed by the full ROM
Post his pickup and incline press with Thomas Inch dumbbells . No one else in the world can do that
Those are beautiful new dumbbells.
I'm going to say probably 6-7 reps with the 200s and 2-3 reps with 210s would be his Max.
Great video i really love doing Dumbell press.
Me too! Better then Bench press
@@StrengthUniverse Yes!
Incredible!!!!
This begs the question of how much Small Brian Shaw can dumbbell press. 🤔
Don't underestimate Small Brian Shaw just because of his size, he's every bit as impressive as Big Brian Shaw.
I always thought Small Brian Shaw was inside Big Brian Shaw working the levers and buttons.
Incredible
At Peak I think he could probably do 240x5 maybe even more
He trained benching exclusively for almost a year for his "Road to 700lb bench" and topped out at 550-ish. 😂
@@ytsux9259I think he was aiming for 600, not 700.
You must have missed the video where he cleaned and incline pressed 2 Thomas Inch dumbbells. To me, that is an even more impressive feat.
dont push your limit...rest, repeat
I once heard that Brian picked up 300 pound dumbbells and pressed it raw. Wish I could find a video tho
Since Brian retired from strong man at a pretty young age he can most definitely pick certain movements like bench etc and break some world records or at least make some mind blowing lifts...
He hasn't retired yet. He competed in the 2023 WSM and is training for his own 2023 Shaw Classic in August.
@@advancedspinalcare5014 oh,i thought a watched a video where he said he retired..or maybe he changed his mind.
Just 5 reps more than me. It makes me feel good like Im closing the gap.
Only 1 rep will take you an entire life. So don't look at the number.. i
Imagine how heavy that dumbbell is equal to the weight of 1 tall fully grown men.
brian can press whatever his litt....big heart desires. im sure he could get 220 if he really wanted to train for it
He is former 4x world strongest man
My Watson dumbbells don’t weigh that much in total😂
its crazy that Ronnie did 200's for 12 reps
Not on incline Ronnie did the 200 on flat.
oh i see, still impressive though, is incline more difficult than flat?
@@christasmith6004yes, its why incline press is better to build muscle because its harder than flat
okay thanks@@shlimey04
Viking genetics.
fresh im sure Brian can do 100kg
I did 60kg dumbbells for the first time unspotted and only got my right arm up. Left didn’t quite make it. What the hell does that mean?
So Brian got the 210s, but has he ever attempted them on camera?
How much could he lift at his peak? Full.
I don't know how Ronnie Coleman could do 12 reps with 200 pounds dumbbells.
It was an incredible feat of strength, especially considering he was dieting for the Mr O
Nicolas Cambi has the heaviest dumbbell press followed by Larry wheels
Several athletes have pressed the 250lbs
@@StrengthUniverse I'm only taking about dumbell presses
@@Chris-vt6nl So am I bud, the heaviest Larry has done is 250s, the same as Daniel Ryjov and Bigboy
@@StrengthUniverse This clip reminded me of when Brian Shawn collaborated with Big Boy a few years back now.
@@StrengthUniverseWrong, Larry pressed 275 lbs dumbbells on incline.
Hey 👋 please do a video on " How strong is Antonio Cesaro " from WWE?
czcams.com/video/Q1eJw9-PtOQ/video.html
I press 210lbs dumbells after all my workouts
I probably can't do that with 2 arms lmfao
Did he not do 6 reps with the 91 kg dumbbells with Bradley Martyn?
he got 5
Not really a presser Brian, in the same way Eddie was, longer levers. And dumbbells aren't really something you do for a heavy single I guess, but would be good to see he could do for a single.
Don't forget Hafthor. He has also pressed the 100s (220 lb) for 7 reps (also after a workout) and with a 7'1" wingspan, his ROM is longer.
Not to be an *absolute fanboy*... But..
A wild, *Dehydrated* Eddie ( Hall ) can do cardio with 200lb dumbbells in *shoulder press*!
Brian's axle/log press would match closer with Eddie's shoulder dumbbell press.
Brian did 5. Ronnie did 12, it is just mind-blowing what a beast Coleman was.
Ronnie did 5 reps also on incline of 200.
Don’t forget Brian doesn’t train chest that often
@zachlegrand7820 I know, my point is that If anyone can pick the same weight as Brian, that person is a beast. especially if that person does not train for strength
Ronnie was flat bench, Shaw did incline, way harder.
@@justinlaite5542Yeah and Brian is 440lbs and Ronnie was at way under 10% body fat a few weeks out from the olympia.
My favourite strongman and a true gent.
He always does full sound reps, which others seem not to on the same weights, but still claim the lifts. after several half rep or partial reps.
You see guys in the gym loading up..... only to do partial reps. Ego lifting.
I count 6 reps with bradley martin, not 5 as you said
I don't count assisted reps
Stand up and do a overhead press like Cyr did. 200 lbs in each hand.
Like all the other dinosaur fossils from his age, I believe that Cyr’s lifts are massively overreported. No steroids, less equipment, training science and nutrition weren’t anywhere near today’s quality.
Don't believe in all the bed time stories and exaggerated word of mouth info. you hear.
Eddy lift 220 , 100 kg
I hate when spotters jump in early and ruin the set.
Difficult, especially in the fairly unreguilated world of showbiz strength feats. Depends on how many wraps he puts round his elbows I guess.
Easy answer as he didn't use wraps, only raw or sometimes elbow sleeves
@@StrengthUniverse In the early days of touring showbiz strongmen, all kinds of tricks were used for commercial promotion. This led to the formation of regulated wieghtlifting association, which standardised the lifting apparel, bars, weights and rules governing the judgement of each lift. The use of double suits, 'deadlfiting suits', 'squatting suits", bench sgirts, elbow wraps/sleeves (which can be of any thickness), are all parts of a commercially driven concept of equipment sale and showbiz appeal. It's a wonderful and entertaing circus: - BUT it's not proper weightlifting.
If you check the videos on my channel you will see I have made some very detailed videos on the history of powerlifting, specific lifts and equipment
Too bad it doesnt translate to technical weighlifting.
This video did not age well 😅
Thats 6 reps idc
Brian trained benching exclusively for almost a year and topped out at 550-ish pounds. His goal of "Road to 700lb bench" ended with no success. Lol
I still cant understand how strongmans coudn't beat Ronnie 🤔,what is the dumbell press WR?
Most strongmen don't usually train dumbbell press. There is no official WR but Daniel Ryjov, Bigboy and Larry Wheels have all pressed 250lb DBs.
