As a fan of MMA, I will say this:
I am not a fan of mindless brawls because that does not take skill of any kind to do. Anyone can throw wild, looping punches and telegraph everything. I am a fan of actual skill, perfect technique and impeccable strategy from fighters. That is why I never missed a fight from the likes of Cruz, GSP, Mighty Mouse, Werdum, Khabib, Jones and the like. If a match turns into a brawl, that's my cue to change the channel.

In other rough times or conflicts, (bar fights, meetings, arguments, Surgery, etc.) I feel like it's in the best interest of everyone involved to just get it done. Nobody wants to argue for days. Nobody wants a 25 minute bar fight. Nobody wants to keep the patient's chest open after heart surgery for longer than needed. Get in. Cause the damage. Take the damage. Get it over with. Go home.
So, I feel like mma fights should be the same. If it takes the whole time, it takes the whole time. If it doesn't, don't make it take the whole time in the interest of "entertainment". Just get in and get out. Anything else is just silly. A 15 second fight is still cool. I'd want the winner's autograph that much more.

He's half correct. You have to do both. Cultivate a style that's entertaining and that you believe you can win with, and never tell the marks that you're trying to entertain them.

@@Ch31ck Why are pushing the action and winning mutually exclusive? If your style is boring and nobody wants to watch it, you make less money. You do your best to amend your style to both win and entertain, or you raise skinny kids. To be sure, I hate rock em sock em robots, but there has to be an in between.

Everyone has their own reasoning as why they are tuning in. Hardcore combat sport fans are tuning in to see greatness. The casuals are tuning in to see blows exchanged. It only becomes a problem when fighters start bitching about money fights.

All the more reason why most of the comments here are name drops of Justin Gaethje, a guy who we know can do more than he shows but it seems he's handicapping himself to draw the casuals. The guy is on the right track, but wins are important too.

The problem is that the UFC prefers the money fights “ Brock lesner vs DC” instead of the quality fights. UFC rewards fighters that put asses in seats not necessarily who wins. The fighters are just trying to play the game too but they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
