  • Here is the new BERNINA L890 Overlocker aka Serger. This machine with its built in color touch screen computer makes it very intuitive and easy to use with its step by step guides and vides. The L890 is capable of overlock, cover stitch and chaining stitching.

I recently lurched this machine and absolutely Love it! Yes, it is very pricey but the long term payment plan without paying interest, it is extremely affordable. It is such a wonderful game changer, so very user friendly. I could never have thought anything like it possible.

Enjoy it! It's so nice to have the option to pay without interest. :) Canadian dealers doesn't support at all the long term payment plan without interest unfortunately.

Thanks for this video! I've just recently purchased a Bernina L 890 so am working to become comfortable using this awesome machine. This video is the first one I've viewed on your channel. I appreciate the calm, clear way you present your tutorials - not rushing through anything plus adjusting the camera focus for specific steps such as using the needle threader. I look forward to working my way through all of your L 890 videos.
One of the first tasks I want to do is shorten some overlong cotton T-shirts. I'm in my 70's, and as I'm aging, I'm finding I need to shorten most of my shirts. (sigh...)
QUESTION: DO YOU THINK THIS WIDE COVER STITCH WOULD WORK WELL ON THE COTTON T SHIRTS? I like the finished look of the top stitching. I'm thinking:
    * I'd need to use wooly nylon thread - or a similar type of thread with some give - but am not certain for which needle(s).
    * My guess is I'd need to adjust the tension.
    * Obviously, I'd need to cut off some of the length and press each T-shirt's finished hem length first of all before doing the serger work.
    * Of course, I'd need to do a test run on an old shirt.
Am I overlooking anything obvious? I'd appreciate any tips or suggestions. WITH MY SINCERE THANKS!

Hi Cody once again, very nice presentation of a machine. Thanks for all you very informative videos. Do you think there is any chance Bernette would release some machine similar to this one at some point most likely with a bit less capabilities as usual but maybe same interface and a combo of serger and coverstitch machine with a guiding touch screen ? (And more budget friendly :) )

Wow! You were great. Thank you… I haven’t started to use my machine yet… one thing you could add is how to fold over the fabric for the hem… how much do you fold?

Hi Cody. I just got the L890 and when I take it out of the box, I found some threads tied at the back maybe were there after it got tested. Can you advise me how best to remove them so I can thread it with my threads. Thanks again for your amazing tutorials

I love my new l890! Last time I used it, the air threader on the purple. Or last one on the right, will not suck the threat in. What could be wrong?

Hi Cody, I just found your channel and appreciate your informative videos! Can you recommend a Bernina serger in the $2000 price range? 😊Thank you!

So happy you found my channel and hopefully some of my videos will help you out.
As for a bernina serger my personal favorite is the bernina L460 its less than $2000 some stores will vary in price but should not be close to $2k. The Bernina L460 is like sewing on a smooth running sewing machine it's not like a normal serger/overlocker at all. It uses the Bernina foot peddle and bernina power cord just like the sewing machines, it sews so smooth "did I mention that all ready? :)" It is easy to thread and has a number of optional feet for all of your needs. However if you are looking for a cover stitch the L460 isn't capable of that.
      Hopefully this helps. :)

Not sure if this machine is going to be popular with its 7000 dollar price tag! Wish it was cheaper
