The biggest mental prep for younger athletes is the ability to be present in the NOW! To be able to flush what HAS happened and proper for what IS happening. Athletes compete in their NOW at the college level. What happened in the previous at bat, inning, etc does not matter in the present!
My 13 year old Son hit 10 homeruns during his last Hittrax session. The furthest was 290 feet. The exit velo on the HRs were no where near his max. His max exit velo hits were on the ground.

Nobody cares about exit velocity. NOBODY!
While I agree , there are some people that promote that metric. Exit velocity is an AFTER effect, what is happening during a swing matters more to me
