Sooo, I really doubted to put these on my bike, bc they seemed to be too good to be true. But your review somehow gave me the final push to buy a set and put them on my bike. In short: excellent choice, and for the price point €35 here in the Netherlands, probably the best choice for its purpose. My hybrid fitness/commuter biker can now handle offroad trails as wel as tarmac. Tarmac performance (grip levels) are slightly (but only very slightly) down compared to the previous tyre (Schwalbe Spicer, a semi slick), but it rolls way more comfortable and with low resistance! On gravel, I got a completely new bike, so to say!
I have used these tires in the Netherlands mostly on pavement and a maybe once a week on gravel and trails (Maastricht and stuff) and I have to say great tires. Also for long distance audax rides 300km+ however .... The rear tire is almost dead after 2700km might get another 500 km but then it's gone
Love watching your videos, because I recognise all the trails and roads, Mt Osmond, Cleland and the Bullock track, plus I am contemplating these tyres, double win.
I'm using the G-One Allround Performance (LiteSkin) TUBELESS even if it's not TLE. After loosing air through the sidewalls initially, now it's getting better and holds air better and better with every ride. However, the density does NOT get better with pumping the tire up, shaking it and putting it into the garage ... so it has to be ridden. I'm very satisfied with the versatility of the G-One.
Wow you cram so much USEFUL info into your tyre reviews. Honest and easy to digest without the waffle and waste so many videos suffer from! Thank you from the UK (new subscriber here too :-) )
Thanks so much Alan! Great to hear you're enjoying your Bossi! Also sorry, I forgot to respond to you on Strava 😅 My own Bossi review will hopefully be happening soon - if I'm allowed to ride it!
I got a set of these in 700x40, and I love them. I guess between this video and now Schwalbe delivered on your plea for larger sizes. They're even pretty fantastic on snow and ice as it's currently winter and I've had to ride over some seriously treacherous garbage and they just do it, ive only gone down once very lightly on ice that I wouldn't even be able to walk over . I've been running tubes , and you're right about the ride being a bit harsh. It's pretty comfortable at lower pressure but I was hoping for more of a plush ride. I want even fatter tires than 40s so next time I'm getting something in 45 that's knobby, perhaps a maxxis tire since I love their MTB tires
I have these very tyres on my 3T Exploro, they are perfect for dry gravel, very good on road (only slightly slower than on my former road bike with P Zero Velos). The Schwalbes don’t work well on mud but this is understandable - you just can’t have everything. I’m very happy that I went from road to gravel - I don’t feel I compromised anything (I was never racing) and I got so many new possibilities. As much as I enjoy riding them I’m tempted to try some tires that are slick in the centre and threaded on sides like WTB Byway which should be similar on gravel but maybe a bit better on road.
Personally I'm happy to trade tarmac speed for grip on slidey stuff. Coincidentally, the other dude in this video is riding a 3t Exploro with WTB Byways on it. He's a sick bike handler so he loves the sliding. Personally I'm not s talented so I take the safer option!
@@JustRideAdelaide Can you please tell me how these compare to the Bontrager GR1 team issus. It seems like a very similar tread pattern. Any insight would be great. @@michaelrepa5900 Thanks for the kind words mate! The short answer is that I can't tell you much about the Bontrager tyres. I can tell you that Trek don't answer my emails though! I do know someone who used a set and found them very versatile and quite liked them. Unfortunately no experience from me though.
I have a set on my Trek CheckPoint. I like them fine. I’m not impressed with their ability to avoid puncture, but that may just be me. I don’t like the odd gray lettering on the sidewall; it looks like it was supposed to be white, but is permanently dirty. Again, maybe it’s just me.
Fantastic review, Mate. Wish they made these for a 29+ in a 2.8. I ride a Trek 1120 and would love to use these on single track, rail-trails mixed in with some asphalts
Just got the 27.5 2.8 installed, and holy crap these things are stiff. What a massive downgrade from my rocket rons (oem), plus they don’t accelerate as fast. Can’t believe how disappointing these are given how much I loved the 27.5 2.35 g one speeds from a few years ago. Definitely smooth on pavement but awful for what I had hoped to do with them.
My bike came stock with 35c G Ones. At the same time I bought Schwalbe Marathon. I spend a bit more time on road than gravel and wanted that smoother on road ride. I’ll have to experiment making them tubeless.
@steffan Millar and Ride Adelaide,. What were your respective experiences with both tyres? I mainly do my commutes on London roads, but on weekends do light gravel and grass woodlands. Much appreciated . Excellent video by the way!
JS K the Marathons do much better on road. They are quieter as well. On gravel I’ve had no concern for traction. I ride mostly on 2”-. Any larger and I would look at some 40s or 44. The G Ones are actually a bit lighter and have more grab. You will notice a little hum as well.
Oh if only I had the time to cover Adelaide's cycling better in videos! I publish heaps of articles over on www.lavelocita.cc about Adelaide but maaaaaaybe I'll have a think about if I can incorporate more into vids.
I loved the g-ones and used then since they came out but the continental terra speed it better at everything. Nicer on road, more grip on gravel and more importantly there is grip on the shoulder so you don’t have that wash out you get with the g-one tread pattern. They also mount tubeless with less effort and are lighter in weight.
Oh yeah, no arguments from me! Those Terra Speeds are excellent tyres. I've found their wear rate just so damn high though. I'm thinking once I've thrashed out the rear Terra Speed and G-One Allround I'll make a badass hybrid with a Terra Speed on the front and move the front G-One to the back. I'm expecting that to be a sweet combo.

I have been riding these tyres on a very similar bike (Ribble CGR Ti) for about three months now, and generally agree with you. My experience is: low rolling resistance on the straight, slightly heavy/sluggish up hills, sketchy around loose turns. No punctures yet. While I have nothing to compare them with on this bike yet, I've been researching a replacement so was looking for the WTB Raddler 40s. My guess was that rolling should be similar due to similar tread, hills should be similar due to similar weight, but loose turns might be improved due to bigger side knobs. No real idea how puncture protection would compare... Have you had any experience with the Raddlers? Obviously, I'm expecting more of an iteration on the G-Ones as opposed to something life changing here. And although the 44mm versions would be best for shorter agro dirt and gravel fun, I'm riding this year's 200km Dirty Reiver so have a feeling the lighter and lower rolling resistance of the 40s will help keep legs fresh as the priority!
I am used to riding my Domane SL 5 road bike and wanted to ride more old railroad gravel trails this summer, so i purchased the Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 2019 (new) as inventory is hard to find these days. Not yet but I'd love to give them a shot! Really great looking tread pattern on them for gravel. I feel their size options are still not quite right though. A 40 mm in 700c is really all the gravel riders get. I'd love a 43 or 45 in 700c, and a 50 mm or 2.0" for 650b.

@@buzzscreen8365 I see. I think you are referring to locking the wheel when braking. But i believe its best to avoid doing that especially when going downhill. How can we determine if these G Ones tires need to be replaced? I had one and it have around 7K KM and the wearing on the rear tire is getting bad. G ones are awesome but its biggest con for me is they wear fast
Love these tires, I ride them all year round trough the Dutch dunes and beaches on my 29er! They can sustain incredibly low amounts of pressure (we ride with 0.6bar/8.7psi on the beaches -> beachrace czcams.com/video/uVsP6gFxAs0/video.html ) They do flat easily on sharp rocks in my opinion!
Beach racing is so badass! I do have a lot of sympathy for those bikes getting covered in sea water. Do you have to do a deep clean after every day on the beach?
@@JustRideAdelaide Yep, well of course we use heavy duty greases and special chains, wheel nippels and things along those lines. Theres even a Dutch company (9th wave) that makes brutal 50mm 29er wheels for this discipline. Its even certified by the european cycling federation! Yes indeed, I believe Schwalbe did a G-One Speed in 28 or 30mm. They're not easy to find but I see them occasionally. The Specialized Roubaix Pro 2br is a 32mm with very light texture that I found very capable on light gravel.
Whats the max speed with it?
35c tires also are bigger on the bike? My frame put up to 36 (triban 520RC) and dont know if it will fit

@@buzzscreen8365 I see. I think you are referring to locking the wheel when braking. But i believe its best to avoid doing that especially when going downhill. When braking its best to mix the rear and front brake and avoid that skid. Me personally i use rear brake then if im already going hard on rear brake thats when ill use front brake but bit by bit just until i slow down to my preferred speed. Sorry for the messy grammar english is not my main languange.
You mean it doesn’t have graphene?? 😏
Bikes like these usually get a full resetup 2 times a season and you have to replace most parts after every season. Some team bikes go up in the 10k euros....
They punture easily.
Do not recomend...
