I would use Tearaway embroidery stabilizer on the top and bottom of the knitted or crochet material to protect your sewing and serger machines from fibers clogging the internal mechanisms. The stabilizer is not expensive and can be cut into strips. It can be found by rolls in the notion section of JoAnn and also sold by the yard. It can also be ordered online in precut sheets! Beautiful sweater!
Ever since she showed the results of the cardigan from a knitted blanket people have bombard her for this video on how it was done and here it is. Wow this was great and baby girl is going to love it especially with the added statement of scallop edges. These are coming out great. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now!
Oh the edges on that blanket are such a lovely touch that now I kind of want to find the crochet pattern.
great video! next time you are sewing something that can catch in the presser foot cut a straw about 2 inches in length and put each end on the foot. it blocks the foot from catching threads, yarn and fur. again great video and i hope to give it a try.
The curly hair & puffy white shirt for Janet Jackson is def giving Prince in his Purple Rain era 😊
I love your designs. Definitely inspirational. I've been designing for 30 years. Started to crochet a few years ago and I love it as well. You can always crochet the pieces together by hand if you don't want to mess up your machines. You did an amazing job on this. ❤
Your concert fit was amazing! These looked like a hug from Grandma feels!
Hi! I think the leftovers would make a cute hat! Take care and be well! Kelly
I love the short length of this and I really admire your work and creativity in saving these blankets by transforming them into these beautiful unique pieces.
Lol as a crocheted, I nearly fainted when you took the scissors to the blanket 😂
I wanna say I love the outcome of all the upcycles, totally beautiful.
One thing I would like to say is that you probably didn’t need to cut the side seams, you just needed to cut out the armhole and line up the side seams of the pattern to touch each other. So your sides would have no joining and no need for the tape at the sides.
Ever since I saw what you did with the ones you got in Canada I have been keeping an eye out for these kinds of hand made blankets. There are a few in an estate sale coming up at a place near me, so hopefully I'll have some fun ones to play with myself soon. Loooooove the super long ones but the shorter one you just made is also gorgeous! Nobody!!! has one like it!
Good luck!! I love that all these wonderful handmade works of art are soon going to be reborn and loved anew. The Value Village near me always has a bunch of crocheted baby blankets, but hopefully next time I go I will find something good too!
One tip on sewing this type of fabric, is to cut a straw to make 2 pieces about an inch long. And put them on the tips of the presser foot. The fabric will not get caught and slid under easily.
THANK YOU, DEAR ALGORITHM, FOR FINALLY SHARING THIS WONDERFUL CREATOR WITH ME!!
I dont know why it took so long but maybe it was just saving your channel as a Christmas present.😋
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. You've inspired me so much and I can't wait to get started on at least 3 things now. 😂
I hope you had a great time at the concert! I bet Ms Jackson (if you're nasty, lol) puts on a fantastic show.❤
I’m amazed at the dedication to sewing but it’s easier to just whip stitch together and save your machine
That's what I'm planning to do. Plus I like to keep plenty of fringe on hand to insert in seams for the drama effect and maybe to hide buttons or whatever.
Of course you're going to a Janet Jackson concert! That look is spot on!
The blanket cardigans are AMAZING!!!
You did yay 👏🏽, I in love with the extra long one.
I have crocheted these types of blankets. They can be unraveled very easily. It would be easier to crochet the fabric to fit a pattern (then sew the pieces together). That is a Mile-A-Minute pattern you used to make that beautiful DIY Cardigan. Wow!
Thanks for saying what crochet pattern this is! I’ve been looking for a way to crochet larger blankets that isn’t as hard on my arm/shoulder. This looks like a great option!
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. I’d prefer to crochet it to fit vs cut it.
What a great project! This would be easy with a yarn needle and thread. You could use the scrap yarn to make pockets.
Wow! LOVE THIS. I have a crocheted cotton blanket or bedspread my late mother made and I think it would be beautiful done up with this pattern. Angelina, I love your channel and what your doing with upcyling! So inspirational and you are beautiful too. Thank you for all you do!
Giiirrrlll! I'm a fan of you, your work, and your creativity! I'm a crocheter/modiste and designer. I have several crochet blankets from my "learning to crochet phase" that were headed to Goodwill. Thanks for the fashion inspiration!! I can now wear them and gift a couple to my friends.
Thank you for the pattern. Once I snag a blanket I'll purchase the pattern. ❤ your channel. I think turning blankets into jankets (blankets + jackets) is absolutely Qt and warm!
You got patterns now for us!! Yay that's awesome .❤ I have a floral crochet blanket I've been holding onto that I've wanted to upcycle. I definitely will be adding to cart.
Definitely a delivery, sweetheart. Thanqu so much
Ole thick bias tape not only selvage, can cover those possible running loose stitches inside. Consider it for your store. Professionalizes it, no?
Luv y'all ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Love this shorter blanket jacket the best of all the ones you’ve created!
Use wax paper or parchment paper it glides better. But its better too take seams appart the stitches will just appart without ravels then use that yarn too sew the seams back together.
Great choice for blankets
Wow, I saw similar for sale, here in England. Over £100 I was so gutted out my price range...cannot believe I came across this, my new year project...Thankyou so much, love from a new subscriber 🎉😊.
U r sooo talented, luv ur work. I can only sew a straight stitch so I’ll just keep watching. Wish I did know how to sew.
Wow, the cardigan turned out so good! I love the way you were able to keep the finished edges. I hope your daughter loves wearing it! ❤
Love the idea, but I’m going to crochet mine to fit and stitch the seams together ( no cutting). It should be pretty easy to figure out, and will not be the death of my sewing machine. Plus, when they’re YOUR stitches, you don’t want to waste them.
This is gorgeous.
Love it, love it, love IT!
Angelina, those crocheted coats are so cute!!! I watched another channel where the lady used a straw hack to sew on crochet. She stuck straw pieces on each one of the presser foot that glide over the crochet loops when sewing. ❤❤Judy❤❤
The color way on this one is so pretty. Well done!!
Wow! What an idea! Love it!❤
It turned out great!😍🤩😍👍🏽❤️💯
I love all of the different designs and colors!
It's a good thing you had your Sailrite fabricator sewing machine to finish it on!👍🏽💯
As a crochet and beginner sewist, thank you for showing how to machine sew crochet items together. I m definitely going to use a pattern to make my crochet panels then machine sew them to save time & yarn. What size blanket gives you the superlong cardigan?
This is so creative. I love this.
Very impressive! Gorgeous
Nice remake - nice styling
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESES!!! My mom crocheted a throw that looks very similar to the one you used in the video but it's not large enough for this. All of the cardigans are beautiful!!✌💜
@@frostyfrances4700 it's too small for an adult. It's more like a shawl. If it's converted into a sweater it may fit big a small child 4 to 6 years of age.
Thank you for helping me too decide witch cardigan too crochet. I will do a colorful one.
Wow its so beautiful.
I love your beautiful blanket sweaters! ❤
I'm definitely going to try this!
So beautiful! Now i want to make one. Thank you for sharing the pattern!
Have BIG FUN at the concert.
I’m in love with this video. Excellent job. Thanks for sharing ❤
I'm actually in the process of makin a 💜 w/ multi color strips so I was so happy 2 see your version. Really helped me curb so annoying mistakes along the way🤗
Love it. I know your daughter will love it
This is an amazing thing to do with a blanket. I think I will be making one for myself (in black, then I can wear it to work as part of my uniform!)
Mmmkay. LOVED the vids of the Canada thrift trip. Couldn't wait to see what these wonderful blankets turned into. How cool and special are THESE CARDIGANS & SWEATERS, and love that the range of size for them!! Wonderful tutorial as always.
Amazing how much easier the sailrite machine was to sew through the blanket
I love the finished project great blanket choice!
Thank so much for sharing your skills and knowledge. It is a true gift. That Salrite sewing machine is a reward… omg it sewed through those layers like butter. Yes mama on my wish list. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for another great video.
I am so glad you made this video because I was concerned about the fraying once cut. I looked at some blankets a few weeks ago and changed my mind because I did not want to deal with fray, but it was not bad at all! Thanks!
This turned out beautiful. Love all that you do.
I love your style. I love your ideas. I love your interpretation of inspiration, you find at the runways and on the internet. Great work. Unique and wearable.
Your look of today is also top. Have a nice day!
Pure talent!! I've bought afgans at second hand stores and have turned (crochet) a few into shrugs.
🧶💚🧶
Love this! So creative ❤. I would love one to wear at home as a comfy lounge jacket 😊
Beautiful!
Hi!
Absolutely gorgeous 😍
Excellent job!!!
Thank you so much for sharing
Super cute! ❤
I enjoy how Angelina pushes the limits and thinks way outside the box!! It pushes me to think outside of my comfort zone. Now I need yo pursue these and other ideas that roam through my head and get scribbled on a piece of paper and stay there. It's time to bring them to life!!
You are the gift that keeps on giving! Really enjoying watching your thought process as you design a new trend ❤. I like the idea of binding the raw sides (😂) , thinking it would help with the knit stretching? Now to find some blankets 😉 thanks for sharing your design creativity!
Awesome idea 💡💡💡💡
Great idea!
Love this!
Absolutely love this!❤
Very cool!
I would have hand sewn those edges. Being that that is thick blanket material, I know it would have gotten caught up in the machine at some point.
Love these!!
Love it!!!
Do another one please.....a maxi cardigan , if u get the time😂⌛😂💙💙💙👍👍
Beautiful, I would love to try this, it will be challenging but worth the try,
The video I've been waiting for......💙
OMG Angelina they have turned out so so amazing totally in LOVE 💙
Looooooove this!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing!!!!!
Or sew binding on before you cut the seams.
That's so cool, 😊
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was so looking forward to doing this! I’ll buy the pattern and let you know how it goes! I have already 3 blankets that I drifted for this project ❤
I did all in a couple of days. I put the pattern together and I made a “working copy” of it. I almost finished it. I need to work some details because I don’t have a serger but it looks great!
❤you never disappoint ❤you are amazing
Pretty 😊
Very cute! I think that the blanket is really cute for that style with the scallops on the bottom edge. That is definitely something I would buy, except for I have never seen a knitted or crocheted blanket in this country. (KSA) and definitely no thrift stores.. 😢
What about sergiing one seam at a time to prevent unraveling and then sewing the pieces together....maybe hand stitch the seams together after it's made.....I have stitched single seams with bias tape and then laced the pieces together with yarn
Im going to the thrift store to find blankets
GOOD MORNING!!!! LOVE the tutorial!!!!! I still CROCHETING, but I'm going to the Thrift store and buy me a couple of crochet blankets or quilts to make a coat. Where I get some mudcloth? I love ❤ your corset you wore for the Janet Jackson concert. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day and stay CREATIVE 😊 Robin N.Otis-Clayborne
Thanks Robin! I made my corset out of a skirt that I thrifted years ago. I wish I could have found yards of mud cloth.
Also croche, have done several afghans. This is kinda painful to watch the hours and dollars get cut up. But too, I have also seen badly laundered pieces in second hand stores.
Does we think this method would work for those woven blankets made in Mexico? I have one here that doesn't match my decor but the pattern is beautiful and it's in decent shape.... im tempted to try.
As a crocheter/knitter THANK YOU for this wonderful way to recycle someone’s work
Thank you for being one of the patient souls who take the time to create such beautiful works of art!
I crochet as well and I was thinking the same thing
I crochet too and way freaking out in my head when I saw that, but I must say that it turned out really nice!! You don't have to figure a pattern for the sweater/duster!! I need to investigate the pattern.
As a crocheter it has always broken my heart to see those wonderful handmade blankets hanging there all unloved. This means I can "rescue" a couple and feel like I've done something to honour the artists. I love this so much for all the reasons!❤❤❤❤
