- On June 1st, 1974, Kurt was one of the offshore radio fans, on board of the MV Fortuna, to visit the Mi Amigo, the Norderney and the MEBO II. The trip was organised by the Free Radio Campaign (FRC) Holland of Hans Verbaan.
This film is a straight copy of what was filmed and edited by Kurt back in 1974. No footage has been removed from that original edit.
Please note that this has been filmed from a boat out on the Northsea, which means that the picture sometimes is somewhat shaky.
John de B. added the following information (thanks John!):
- At 03.48 the REM island (with mast) can be seen, behind the Caroline ship.
- Starting at 12.00 I identified the following persons on the MEBO II:
Gerard Smit (above the T of INTERNATIONAL),
Jan de Roode/King Kong (above the ON),
Don Allen above the A (moves to upperdeck later on)
I think it's Rein Pronk (with hanky) behind Jan de Roode
on the far right on the upperdeck I see Robin Banks and on the far left I see captain Thijs Oostduin.
Thank you for up loading this film. very enjoyable and interesting. I left school that summer and remember those stations and the fire bomb attack on the MEBO11 . Loved the Offshore Stations great radio and music.

Schitterende beelden. Ook uniek naast de drie zendschepen tevens beelden van het nog "intacte" REM eiland in de verte. Vanaf het strand waren de schepen goed te zien dmv de goede telelens. Hartelijk dank.

Great video and thanks for sharing, I listened to all 3 of these ships at various times and visited the Mi Amigo off the UK coast myself a couple of years after this time, great memories.

Mooie film! Ik vroeg me al eens af of die schepen te zien waren vanuit Scheveningen... ja dus. En wat was de ligging van noord naar zuid? Ik meen de kleurige Mebo als eerste, dus noordelijkste te zien?
