- Testing out the new Arken Optics EPL4, a lightweight scope aimed towards hunters. First Impressions were that its pretty light compared to the main line of Arken optics, coming in at 24.7 oz. (Compared to 36 and 39oz)
Turrets were all positive, tactile and audible. Parallax was dead on and smooth.
I keep saying it, but I wish it had somewhat of a christmas tree style reticle, even if it was only the first couple mils down.
Glass is Japanese, so it should be better than the chinese glass, I liked it.
Overall, I think its a great budget option for someone trying to put together a lightweight hunting/mountain rig on a budget.
This was just a first impression video, I'll be doing more full review in a few months.
Arken optics are seriously under rated, they perform better then most scopes double their price!
I ordered an EPL4 3months ago still waiting. I have 2 sh4 gen 2s love them. I have a naked rifle sitting in my gun vice waiting for my next Arken!
How long did it take to get yours
Thanks & yes, you seem to be a pretty good shot too!
Is the image clarity better on the 6-24 or 4-16?
Where do you live? Reminds me of here where I live in Montana. I have 3 Arkens
I know they have some other new stuff coming this year. Interested to see where they take things
I have Arken’s EPL4 4-16x, I am going to wait and see what Arken will come out with near the end of the year, I may buy another, there are plans to upgrade to Leupold Mark5 3.6-18x buy with a veterans discount cut cost almost in half.
Leupold is only 20% of for veterans
Been looking for optics for the Volquartsen VT2 with both the 17 HMR and 22 WMR barrels, FFP with generic MIL or MOA marking since it been going from one caliber to another.
Great video brother!
My elevation knob comes loose often. The set up isn't the greatest. I had to apply thread lock and the brass is already damaged. I 2 epl models and I wish I spent a few extra bucks on something else. Glass isn't the greatest and the eye relief leaves a lot to be desired with higher magnification. But for the price, I guess it's good
Does Arken offer a sunshade for these scopes?
Yeah comes with them.
Why they don't the EP4L 4-16 with a Christmas tree reticle is beyond me. They have both in the LH4 series.
They do now.
@@ADudeAndSomeGuns I thought the Christmas tree reticle was just for the 6-24 not the 4-16?
@@WildWeasel4570 you are correct. For the small difference in weight I’d go with the 6-24 over the 4-16 anyways.
@@ADudeAndSomeGuns Ok. Great. Thank you!
Are you shooting subsonic ammo there?
Nope.
Maybe it's just my bad eyes, but I can not see the reticle ??
Jim, go to 10:33 in the video, you should be able to see it.
Have you tried this is low light hunting scenario by chance? Cant decide between the epl4 and the ep5. Im thinking glass is the same but theoretically the ep5 should gather more light being 56mm?
I have not. Would be an interesting test though. I will say the epl4 is considerably lighter in weight though.
@ADudeAndSomeGuns we dont do much walking for deer here in alabama so weight is not any kind of concern. Thanks!
my dial went loose aswell I dont know If I was going too loose but I got strong fingers so I dont know I didnt wanna ram the screw too hard in the steel so I aint turn the long end Just used some blue loctite no more issue
Hi, how can I contact you for reviewing our product?
Can you put a scope on a flipe to side mount????
My brother in Christ……try it.
DID YOU SET PARALLAX?? I SHOOT MY ARKEN OUT TO 600 ALL DAY BRO I USE 20" HEAVT SS BARREL
PARALLAX SET BRO.
im crossing my fingers that they drop an ep6, 2-12. 20oz kinda jobbie 🤞🤞🤞
Would be baller
Fuuudge. Now i need an ar10....
Everyone needs an Ar10
Great review, but you hold your weapon so weird and wrong, you NEVER hold the top of the shroud on the barrel that is a No-No
Lol. I just did, BILL.
Results were fantastic. He can hold it any way he wants.
The C clamp he was doing is how most people use an AR15 or AR10 these days. It gives you better recoil control. I could see if he was holding an exposed barrel, as it would definitely mess with the harmonics. However, nothing is wrong with the way he did it in the video.
Go ahead Chuck Norris… explain why that is a NO NO🤦♀️
One of the worst "tests" I've ever seen. Off a bipod, "swagging" the elevation? Shouldn't we be more concerned with how it dials/tracks/returns to zero, precisely?
The main difference with this scope is the reticle. So I wanted to test reticle usability in practical shooting situations. You can find several other vids where they do tracking tests.
Proper gassing has left the chat.
Didn't feel like changing the gas setting for this suppressed vid. I think she'll live...
Of the three scopes I bought, I returned the SH4 4-16×50 , horrible glass.
Since Jan 9 it's been practically 10 weeks waiting time for the EPL4 4-16 × 44 and still the order is "awaiting processing ".
They grew fast on their pride and now their customer service sucks.
This must be monstrum or ncstar employee talking shyt on arken I keep seeing comments like this an im starting to think more an more there are shills other brands see arken stole the buisness an have to try desperately to get some back so talk down hoping to sway away some folks I mean I dont know im seeing a lotta these types of same comments mentioning reply time an how scopes never came. How can the 4x16 have bad glass I used it on 24x it was usable on sunny day with a steady shooter.
