I’m in Florida!! I’m so glad I found your channel! I started homeschooling my 5 year old son this fall. He loves watching other kids do their homeschooling.

Thank you for this comment, some days I am so worried that I’m screwing her up somehow or that she is behind!! Even though I taught first grade public school for years and I know she’s above that level, I still question my abilities as a homeschool mama

@@Heavenlyhomeschool i wouldnt worry about it kids learn at their own pace and I am gifted but struggled with basics in both reading and math. I was slow to learn to read and course this is back in the early 90s when you didnt even start real academics til 1st grade but i couldnt read more than a handful of words until 2nd grade but i was reading on a high school level by the time i started middle school and was reading on a college level by 8th grade. I also struggled with basic math honestly i never completely memorized my multiplication facts but the harder the math the easier i get it. I also never tested well so i made average grades I go to a university now that does almost all papers and projects we occasionally have like quizzes over readings just to make sure we understood it but they are like 20 pts and all of our assignments are worth different amounts of pts and add up to 1000

@@mistybethune9116 I also when to school in the 90s and I remember kindergarten was playtime and naps!! Now it’s so crazy what the kids are “supposed” to know in Kindergarten!

@@Heavenlyhomeschool yeah kids are learning in preschool now what we used to learn in 1st grade it seems. i have a friend who is moving from preschool 3 to kindergarten next year and yeah she teaches at a private school were the kids are expected to be more advanced than public but she says she is preparing to have some kindergarteners already reading independently pretty well and doing all kinds of different things in math. she knows least one will cause her oldest daughter will be in her class

@@Heavenlyhomeschool i think i would very much been better off homeschooled i made average grades in school despite being extremely gifted because i was bored and didnt see the point and repeatedly practicing skills i already mastered just because my classmates hadnt and my test anxiety issues. thats y i like the online program i do for college. even though they recommend 15 hours on avg per class per week honestly it only takes me max 3 hours a week to complete all my assignments depending on how hard the class are and how much reading is involved

lol i remebered when i saw your daughter write 7 is I taught the kids i used to babysit to write their numbers when they were 4 but i taught them the way i write a 7 which has a line through the middle one of the moms her daughters kindergarten teacher asked her one day why she did that. She did that because thats the way i was taught to write 7s in 1st grade and have always wrote them that way. I think someone once explained it to me that thats how hispanics write 7s and my 1st grade teacher was hispanic and i went to school with alot of hispanic kids

So funny, I actually write the lines through my 7s too!! I try not to with my daughter since it’s not how most of her books have the number written, but I think it’s good for them to see it both ways!! Sometimes I do the slash through my zeros too 🤣

@@Heavenlyhomeschool i dont remember any of my teachers correcting me either with the way i wrote my 7s. in fact my 7th grade math teacher had me demonstrate to the class how to write them because she said some the boys handwriting was so sloppy it make it easier to tell a 1 from a 7 lol.
