Smash Afrika Leave It Better Episode 4 with Athi Petela

Film & TV Director | Screenwriter Athi Petela chats to Smash Afrika about leaving it better than she found it. She aims to make impactful and well-crafted stories. Athi has also written and directed PSAs on gender-based violence and road safety. One of her proudest works is a project she recently did with the United Nations Population Fund, where she wrote and directed PSAs about HIV and AIDS, COVID-19, gender-based violence, and the human trafficking of disabled people. Trapped is Athi’s labor of love.

I enjoyed this conversation so much. Thanks for sharing your story Athi, I got chills when you said you "write from a place of knowing". I love Athi's openness to learning and acknowledging that the purpose is to serve a God-given mission.
This was such a nuanced conversation; I love how it highlighted both sides of so many coins-system vs. individual, formal education vs. school of life, assertiveness vs. kindness-this was so insightful.
