    The Great Race is a very funny movie. Jack Lemmon as Professor Fate was great. Vivian Vance played a suffragette and the wife of a newspaper editor and was very good.

      Jack Lemon s' campness in the role made myself reminded me of his Daphne character in 'Some Like It Hot' (the presence of Tony Curtis also made me feel reminiscent of 'Some Like It Hot' too in honesty.)

    Aw, Betty White and her beloved husband Alan have been happily reunited. I love Vivian as well - I treasure an early, 1974 playbill (from an off-Broadway play she did) with her autograph - along with an "I Love Lucy" heart which she drew in. Also loved Jim Backus - the delightful Mr. Magoo. Cheers to all!

    I always loved Vivian, she was always so formal and elegant but she never seemed to act like a big star, she was down to earth and simply funny

    Whether the truth or not, Jim Backus told this story. He either got a mash note of phone call from Marilyn Monroe, she just had to meet him in person. He told his wife Henny about it, and she said, "If it were any other woman, I'd be jealous... but Marilyn Monroe! You've got to do this!" So Jim met her privately, and what Marilyn wanted was Jim to talk like Mr. Magoo.

    I like Alan's look of amazement or disapproval at some of the rather lame clues or answers given by the players. He's part of the show, more than an MC.
    I don't think you see that too much on game shows.

      On the order of "bough" and not "cough", perhaps a regional pronunciation. (On the order of "through" it ought to be pronounced "true.") Despairing over English orthography, GB Shaw noted that "fish" ought to be spelled "ghoti." Perhaps "trough" ought to be spelled "troff."

    Priscilla (Penny) Reynolds, the female contestant in round three of this episode, went on to marry Kermit Roosevelt, the great-grandson of Theodore Roosevelt on May 6, 1967. See the announcement in the May 7, 1967 New York Times. TV has ALWAYS been fake.

      @Christopher Bingham Jack Clark left when Bob Stewart left "Password" to form his own production company, and Jack was the announcer on some of his shows (the announcer you hear here is Lee Vines).

      I think Penny married a Roosevelt. Her name was Priscilla Reynolds…later Priscilla Roosevelt. Expert lecturer and author of Russian History. Yes, I googled. Lol!

      And it was such sexist times. He always asked the men what they did (occupation) and the women if they were married or hand children. Funny because Allen was married to Betty White, a very ambitious career women.

      Chris N , Back then, it wasn't sexist of Alan to ask what a woman's husband did for a living. In those days, it was simply a fact that most women were homemakers unless they were unmarried. Alan already knew the information about each new contestant, so he knew enough about a woman to ask the appropriate question: "Are you a working girl?" or "Do you have a family?" or "What is your husband's occupation?". Whichever question he asked, was a polite way of letting the person talk a little bit about themselves, because the audience and home viewers were interested.

    Allen.."papoose, that's an Indian baby! " ? Although he is the best host this show ever had... comments like that, giving out clues during the game,and not knowing it, Also not knowing where the game is at certain points. Seems Allen isn't to swift.
