I miss the great Skip Caray and John Sterling. Wish John was still with the Braves.

Funny that the back of Vida Blue uniform says Vida. Not something you see to often first name instead of last.

Vida talks about that here: www.mlb.com/video/vida-blue-discusses-his-jerseys/c-1222880383

I think that’s because Vida is a Spanish word and they reverse the order of their adjectives and nouns from the order we use in English.

Never mind. I didn’t realize it was a frigging name. I will show myself out.

How did the braves became American team

Back in the '80's, thanks to Ted Turner WTBS in Atlanta was one of the first "super stations" on what was then called "cable" television. Super station meaning that it was a local station that could be seen all over the country. So no matter where you lived in the U.S., if you had a cable provider that carried WTBS you could watch Braves baseball. I don't think the Braves ever really became "America's Team" the way the Cowboys did in the NFL, it was more of a marketing ploy. If anything, I think the case could be made that the Cubs were more "America's Team" being that they also played on super station WGN out of Chicago.
