  • I wrote a macro for my CNC that converts it from a CNC router to a CNC stop block for my miter saw and reads a cut list. I use this program to make face frames for inset beaded cabinets.
I have a jig that connects to the CNC to cut the notches in the face frame for the bead detail. I will follow up with a second video on that jig and will add a link here when it’s available.

I was looking into automation of miter saws or at least the stop block, and found this! Neat how you just use the CNC Router,! Really great trick.

Thanks! Glad you found it useful. I also use this for my router when making the notches for inset face frames. Do you use open builds control?

Love the automatic stop block! Makes me want to buy a cnc table

Thanks for the sub! Any unconventional ways you use yours? The macros make Openbuilds a game changer. I also wrote a js to cut the cabinet feet in my kitchen. Since the cabinets are shimmed to level each foot was slightly a different height and the radius arch on each foot then adjusted for the height

@@homehackshowtos That's really neat about the cabinet feet. Could you please put together a video showing how you do this? I have a 2'x4' cnc router - that I built out of mdf, gas pipe, and lots of McMaster Carr parts. I use Mach3 and VCarve mainy, but would like to make my own kitchen cabinets - definitely liked your ingenuity on using the router as a cnc fence! I'm in Romeo Michigan

Cool. Yeah cutting the carcasses on my 4x4 was probably only faster than a table saw since no mistakes were made vs I always make some mistake when doing a table saw. If it was a 4x8 then it would be faster. If you really get a system down then using a table saw is good. The one pro of the cnc is that every cabinet assembled perfectly.

@@homehackshowtos Sounds like I have to upgrade to at least a 4'x4' (been wanting to do that for a Long time). I definitely like what you have done. I will probably do something similar in a Mach3 wizard program (I'm old school, been using Mach3 for almost 20 years). Thank You for sharing and being a guy that can be approached and talked to. There are a lot of arrogant people on here. Nice work, and I hope you keep Vlogging o CZcams.

Can you share the software you are using for sending gcode?

I am using open builds control. There is a bug in the code that causes it to only work in the command line. Once I fix that I will post a video with a how to.

So you automated your left hand? Excuse me, another left hand. It definitely is interesting.

Yes with high precision. Helps when making face frames with a lot of different cuts that need to be exact.
