- Highlights from stage 6 of the Tour de France 2023. The high mountains call on a tough 144.9km stage in the Pyrenees. Starting in Tarbes, the peloton climb the Cöte de Capvern-les-Bains (5.6km at 4.8%), the Col d'Aspin (12km at 6.5%) and the legendary Col du Tourmalet (17.1km at 7.3%) before a summit finish at Cauterets-Cambasque (16km at 5.4%).

Wild how so many were so quick to say the tour was over after 1 stage yesterday. It's a long 3 weeks and anything can happen. Hoping for more great racing and battles to come
Unfortunately the tour is like the world cup in football. suddenly everyone's an expert and has an opinion. it is what it is. let's hope we get close and exciting racing as long as possible 🤞

most aesthetic posture for me ive been watching nike nerd since 89. Lucho herrera was special but not that accelaerationandnot to crest mountain that injection of lactate and hes still gota maintain momentum 4ks up mt just amazing mab i might say good lord out loud when he goes they hae to go wide lense or moto gas it. What an amazing Tour so far! We are still in the first week and Vingegaard and Pogacar are already battling each other like it's the decisive mountain stage!

these past few years have been brilliant with so much talent. future generations will look back at these races as among the finest.
Best line of the day, "Sepp Kuss was being Sepp Kuss in the mountains." Kuss is such an incredible climber. And at what point can we just start calling Wout van Aert, Wow van Aert? Wout never ceases to amaze, he seems to be able to do everything incredibly well and is always making things happen and driving the show.
So nice to see the two fistbumping each other. Awesome sportsmanship!

Pogacar was also extremely strategic as to when he attacked. There were two motos ahead of him riding almost side by side to each other. He must've gotten a pretty sweet draft from them! A brilliant move.
After reading all the nonsense written on social media yesterday, it was super wonderful to see pogačar come out fighting like the goat tht he is......race is on!

Does this mean that'll be the end of excuses about his wrist? Nothing wrong with him. Yesterday Vingegaard was simply better. Today Pogacar was.
@@simonjrgensen6761Correct me if I am wrong, but Tadej began the tour with kinesio tape on his wrist and now only has some type of wristband which indicates to me at least that his wrist is improving! It’s not excuses it’s a legitimate injury he had/has to best!

I told my husband as we were watching with about 10k left in the race that if Jonas attacked and Tadej stayed with him then Tadej would ride Jonas's wheel until about 2k left to go and would attack and drop Jonas for the stage win. I was not surprised that it actually happened. I feel bad for Jai Hindley but he got his day in the yellow jersey which was his dream. He'll come back stronger next year.
Jai has to make practice, i dont doubt he will become stronger

@scpython1 That's perfect tactics by Pog, Jumbo thought they had him on the ropes from the previous day so rode hard to make more gains, Pog followed their wheel and when it was time launched his attack. In hindsight, Jumbo didn't need to ride that hard.

Pogacar and Vingegaard are in another level. Everybody else are fighting for third.
Don’t forget Van Aert. He was pulling almost an entire stage. What would he can do if he had a helper…I think even Pogacar should be very terrified.
@@JeroenB. on mountain stages he is too heavy to go for a long run, to be successful in helping last year he had to sacrifice some stages and even then lost time. He is great on a single stage or a classic but long routes are jsut too much for that heavy power. It’s explosive force not endurance force
@@kivori3438 In 2021 he won a mountain stage (Mont Ventoux), solo. Today, he was pulling constantly on the 2 hills. Fact, he is heavyer than a real climber, but I think his endurance force is quiet impressive. And he was also in front when there where sprints, so his recuperation is out of the world.
@@JeroenB. yes but i think on consecutive mountain stages he would suffer, truth is we havent really seen him do consecutive mountain stages this hard yet, last year he did trin vingegaard but had time to replenish strenght. That’s the difference i would say there could be. Gc competitors can handle multiple climbs in following days with easy wout has more strenght but a lot more weight too that impacts it directly
@@JeroenB.WVA is a all rounder and would have to lose weight to be a GC contender but then he would lose his power in CX and classics.... He still hasn't won tour of flanders or Paris roubaix

The Tour will be decided on the Puy De Dome. You youngsters don't know about it, it's beyond brutal. Go read about Ocana riding away from everyone in the most amazing display of raw climbing ever. Go read about the titanic battle between Anquetil and Poulidor! I hope the organisers have Pou Pou there to present the days winner! Pog and Jonas are going to make it memorable! Bonne chance to both!
It wont be. Although I expect quite a show there It will still be stage 9 and we will have 13,14 and 17. I expect Pogacar will put the hammer down on Jonas on Puy de Dome but then Jonas will have plenty of chances to bounce back.

It's like Pog dropped it in second and revved the engine and blew past Vingegaard on that last climb. The look on Vins eyes said it all.
Yer, i saw the look on Vingegards face. It was a look of WTF, he's got me. I think that look was maybe the prelude to the remainder of the tour. If only Pogacar had the same team support as Vingegaard.
@@mickinferrera8743 Totally agree. I've been saying that since last year when Vingegaard won the Tour. If Pog had a team like Jumbo he would dominate even more so. Vin has Wout, Sepp and Christophe and when Primoz recovers. But you can't knock UAE too much, they have some great riders also. They just seem to need more help in the mountains for Tadej

Hindley may well have payed a lot for his efforts on yesterday's stage, I think he isn't on the level of Pog or Vingegaard but surely it will be difficult to knock him off the podium now.

Today was a surprise because yesterday was a surprise.
Little pogi vs Jumbo fishing 😂, and he still won a race🔥
in hindsight Jonas should have reconsidered after not beeing able to drop Pogacar at Torurmalet - the final climb suited Pogacar to well.
Jonas went in Yellow, after all. And gained a lot of time on everybody except Pogacar. And if Jonas had "reconsidered" at Tourmalet, Pogacar would probably have attacked at Cauterets-Cambasque anyway with the same result.

No Guts no Glory. TJV won time on Hindley. Now Knows that Pogi is physical ok but his team is weaker. 24 seconds loss after 2 days of attacking of Jonas and wheelsucking of pogi is not bad. In hindsight everyone has 20/20 vision. It was worth the try
@@henriksylvestolsen4885 Hard to tell. Maybe you are right. But Pogacar is very explosive, when he's "on top" and Jonas isn't. Nevertheless, we can now look forward to two very exiting weeks of racing, I think.

I dont know why pog rides with his team. I watched the last 80 km and there wasnt a UAE rider in sight. Whilst Vin had 4 riders helping him. Am I being too critical of the UAE team selection and management. Pog is clearly the best rider in the world. Come on UAE start supporting him

Please stop. Do you actually watch any races? Ever? WvA is a domestique and it's his job to work for the leader, in this it's case Jonas, and is occasionally given the green light to go for stage wins. Jonas doesn't work for Wout unless the team car sees an advantage to doing so. If you knew anything about cycling you would know this.
@@dawnc5797 On stage 2, the team had a clear advantage to have Jonas work a bit for WVA, it was to have a first-stage win (always good for the sponsors and the team atmosphere to win a stage).
And it seems they knew it too, as they had Jonas not cooperating with Pogacar after the climb (He could have cooperated to put the other GC contenders further and be assured to have at least 6 bonus seconds to only lose 4 secs over Pog). But he was told to not work and wait which is a sign that Wout was co-leader in this one stage.
If Vingegaard would have had the decency to help the team control the last 2 km (short effort), Jumbo would have had one stage win. Responsibility also on the DS who didn't give the order. If you knew anything about cycling, you would know this ;)
It'd be very funny to see Pog win the Tour and have Jumbo going back home without even a stage win. Let's see how it turns out but what's clear, is that Jumbo passed on an easy stage win there.
