    BartMeersschaert, you are a rock star! After installing a new regulator (using the old motor), my window would only move about 2 inches in each direction. After following your advice...it works perfect now. Thanks for posting this excellent video!

    I tried several other methods and none of them worked. This did the trick! Thanks.

    Had the same issue and this was the only thing that worked for me as well. When I got the window up, I pulled the motor connector and held the window up button for 15 seconds, plugged the motor connector in and repeated with window in the down position. No more stopping half open when trying to close the window. Thank you for sharing.

    I was having the same issue. I tried resetting from the driver main switch and from the rear passenger side and wasn't working. I followed this instructions and worked perfectly. Thank you

    The only way I got this to work:
    1. CAR MUST BE RUNNING!
    2. Roll window up with the switch
    3. Unplug the motor harness and hold up on the switch until you see the yellow window warning light on the dash (programming will not work unless you see this)
    4. Plug motor back in and hold up for 15 seconds
    5. Roll down using switch and hold down for 15 seconds
    6. Roll up using auto-up feature and see if window stays up

    Replaced window regulator on my BMW 323i 2008 but after fitting panel back on I realised I had this memory problem. But discovered another way without having to dismantle again. What worked for me is to close all doors, turn on the engine, then hold down the window switch with window in the open position for 17 seconds at least. This will then de-initialise the memory. Now when you try to bring up window in will only go in short bursts, ie no auto up function, but it wont have the problem of going all the way up and dropping a few inches. So to re-initialise memory, hold it in the up position for about 5 seconds.....voila memory reset! Hope this works for others.

      This method also worked for me without ripping stuff apart. I'm not sure if this is a trick, but the window has 2 positions (1st click and 2nd click). I held the button up in the 1st click position after inching the window up to the closed position.

    So I still couldn't get this to work after trying your method unless I misunderstood, but I ended up getting it to work by unplugging the motor, holding the up button and then plugging the motor back in (the key was in the ignition for power to the windows) and holding the button for a few seconds to reset it. Beforehand, every time I tried to hold the up button the window would just pinch detect and roll down. What a pain...and my other window gets kinda stuck in the fully down position, pretty sure the damn pinch detection is triggering so i have to inch it up before using the auto, but that's good enough for me LUL

    Found an easier way that worked for me it was so simple all u had to do was start with the window down and hold the down button for about 10seconds then hold the button up and wait for the window to be all the way up and start another 10secound count without releasing the button repeat this 3x each up and down them turn the vehicle on and off then try the automatic feature. Worked for me great figures this out because i didnt have the tools to pull about the door

    My back left window went all the way down in the door. My son-in-law took door panel off and got the window up then he took a part out so we couldn't put it down which was fine with me. After a week or so the window malfunction symbol came up and it has starting beeping every few mins utes, very annoying. Is there anyway I can stop the beeping sound until I can get it fixed?

    Nice. But you don't have to unplug the connector. After installing the regulator and reconnecting the door panel, just hold the up bottom for 5 seconds. Assuming the window is in the full up position, which it must be. How do I know? Just replaced mine..

    • @uptownphotography
      @uptownphotography Před 6 lety

      That would be great if taking the door apart is not necessary. Question: Do I just hold the up button on the door for 5 seconds when that window is in the up position? Will that reset it? Thanks....

    • @dennisrobinson2403
      @dennisrobinson2403 Před 6 lety +1

      Sure will. Make sure the window is fully up and use the passenger switch to reset it. Mine still works great.

  • @chayawichjeerasthanakul9344

    I found problem same as you. When pressing up window, window are rebounded down about 10 cm. from the top frame. I will try to do as your clip. If it work, I will be back to tell you.

    I have a 2008 328xi I have an error message for the right front passenger window “anti-trap malfunction” to be exact. The window will only go up 2 inches or so at a time (the automatic function doesn’t work).. this is extremely frustrating especially when I have a date in the car! I have tried every reset method known to man.. hold the button down while patting my head and reciting the national anthem.. and NOTHING! It’s driving me crazy lol the motor seems to be fine it feels like it just needs a reset but I can’t find real information on how to fix this and I’m not paying bmw $190 just for a diagnostic 🤦‍♂️

  • @MrHavingfun68
    @MrHavingfun68 Před 5 lety

    Thanks for the video. My problem is (after I changed the regulator) is that every time I roll the rear passenger window down all the way (I can roll it down as much as I want other than all the way and it will come back up) I have to use my Schwaben scan tool and reinitialize to get it to roll up. I will try this and let you know, also another link I found that may be helpful to some of a forum is the following "www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?s=289410c39bd569ab9e9770c3253b04b9&t=62834&highlight=auto+window&page=2"

      Nevermind I found a solution! I tried rolling it up without it being plugged in all the way, it threw a code on the dash about the door. Tried rolling it down but it'd only go in small increments (like an 1 1/2 inch) so I rolled it back to the top. It stayed so far so I plugged it in the rest of the way and followed the video after he plugged it in. It worked!
