My male rats absolutely love to make nests. They really really enjoy taking pieces of my curtains and turning them into their nest. I loved the video, I’ve been trying to decide because I want a rat that can learn tricks but I want a cuddly lap pet too but I can’t have both sadly
Aw that’s so cute! If you’re looking for a cuddly lap pet your best bet is to go for a male, I have had six female rats and none of them were very into cuddles. But like I said none of this is set in stone, it’s just a general guide of what to expect but every single rat has it’s own personality, likes and dislikes. Males can definitely learn tricks but sometimes need a bit of extra motivation and time 🙂
I just got three one month-old boys and at this age they’re VERY playful to the point they’ll bring their unwilling brother(s) into the play 😂 I’ve had rats before and have never had rats under 5 months old. I’m ready for the journey!
no, maybe if theyre neutered but im not sure, but just dont its not really necessary. if you do, keep them in seperate cages, you dont want to breed them
Ik this is two years old but females, yes, because they tend to get mammory tumors. Males, only if they show signs of hormonal aggression or testes tumors.

Two rats do not constitute a group. Two rats are absolutely not enough for happy rats. Three bare minimum. And four is much better
