Its so special. I can get high, emotional, spiritual, and all of those just from listening to M83. My brain always has this rush through it when am listening. And I’ve even seen things and had visions all by listening to M83. M83’s Outro opened my third eye to see everything in a spectrum that’s so beautiful. I see pure energetic dots on everything. It’s the atoms. It’s like I see nothing but pure energy. And I see these pure energetic beings from The Knowing movie too. So beautiful. The music is conscious❤ Cus that’s the feeling; it’s “soular” and energetic and creative and conscious and it’s so beautiful❤

Gonzalez further called the album "a gift to [him]self" made "without the pressure of selling records" as he rejected commerciality after the success of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (2011), which he described as "almost too much" for him. The album also focuses on "the interplay of guitars and synths", which Gonzalez felt is "closer to the energy" of the band's previous album, particularly Before the Dawn Heals Us (2005).

I love M83. Have for years! The only issue I have is the levels for each instrumental track aren’t where they don’t fight for dominance. Some sounds need to be panned off left or right a bit. I would love to sound engineer an album for them!
