You might have an easier time making doll clothes before you make clothes for yourself. That way, you can learn more about the fabric and mechanical skills before you have to purchase so much of it or worry about customizing for the best fit. Many Etsy sellers offer digital patterns for human and doll clothes that are incredibly cheap. You can print them out, tape them together, and work like that. Patterns are kind of like a puzzle that you fit together. Make sure you understand when to cut out 2 of an item vs when to cut on a fold. You'll know what to do when the time comes.
