    Basically let it freeze ever so slightly in the puddle, reset your feed hand at the same time bring the tig back to place thus starting the process again. This should take you on a second or 2 max.

    Man, you should start your own Welding School, and register with the Workforce Development or Unemployment Office in your State! Your are really good at Instructing. They will pay for the students that they send your way. You name your tuition price (per student) and State and Federal Money will cover the Students' tuition. I started my own Trade School called Abate-Tech, where I teach Welding, Fire and Water Damage Restoration, and Asbestos Abatement, and the State didn't bark at the price I charged per student. This way you have money coming in even in between jobs!

    As a code welder in OZ, coming from a Sheet Metal background and going to Boilermaking. I have found it a lot easier to have the filler wire in an outside fill position, no landing, 1/2- 1mm gap and 3.2 wire, while using techniques that have come from purge welding SS pipe/heavy SS sheet freehand(no cup walking/weave), blows most Boss minds to how it can be done with 100% pass on testing, as it is not used in the heavy steel industry. Can you try it and see what you think as an experienced welder?

    • @TheWeldLab
      @TheWeldLab  Před 3 lety

      I give it a try
      Sometime I keyhole and dip but I always go back to backfeed I feel it’s much faster

    • @bcurrie9511
      @bcurrie9511 Před 3 lety

      @@TheWeldLab It is not really a dip technique as feeding the filler into the molten pool to create the desired root height and not poke raw wire through the pool and past root and to be honest I have found that faster is not always better.

    • @TheWeldLab
      @TheWeldLab  Před 3 lety

      Ohh I don’t think I ever seen someone do that ..you know if there is a video on CZcams now ? I’ll like to go check it out..yeah. ...yeah on the field I’m all about quality and production..

    • @bcurrie9511
      @bcurrie9511 Před 3 lety

      @@TheWeldLab Have not found none of it, must be an Australian thing as no one else seems to know either. After nearly 30 year of doing it is hard to explain as it is one of those second nature type thing, but here goes. It is like purging 3-4 mm SS sheet and getting the same result both sides(tho it is quicker to double TIG it(two torches used at same time on opposite sides-connecting moltin pools together with only one side feeding wire)). And you are right there has to be a balance of quality to quantity to the rate you charge your self out at, eg. an xray coded welder here for steam line work is about $250+/h as a business and as tradie working for some one is about $70/hour, and that is a decent speed price (walk faster than cheaper) and not go hell for leather speed-not enough money. Hope this helps, it is finding what works for you and still reaches code.
