    All new boats and fast yachts in particular have teething issues once the owner starts putting them to use, those are the most radical propellers I have seen not attached to a turbine boat you need some spares, even though that is a manufacturer error when you are stuck somewhere getting another one might not be so easy. You should have warm jackets, sleeping bags, bottled water, tea, coffee, powered milk and snacks on board, you have seen how a short journey can turn into a very long one if you where planning a fast trip and everything doesn't go to plan.

    • @rbslammed6163
      @rbslammed6163 Před rokem +11

      How are the props a manufacturer error?
      Also, what do you think happens when/if the steering wheel falls over board, gets damaged or fries itself?
      Lastly what do you think of the nice steel Speer pointed at the passengers chest/fact (aka the totally unprotected steering Column)

    • @JamesYoung61
      @JamesYoung61 Před rokem +14

      @@rbslammed6163 It is very unusual for a propeller to loose a blade like that unless they have hit rocks and then there is generally damage on the other blades, my guess would be either a fault in the original casting or it some sort of harmonics thing, those propellers are under phenomenal stress at high speed.
      Your second point, you are right I think that very un-seamanship like to be able to put the central control of the yacht at such risk, I am sure that there is some manual override / back-up. Accident waiting to happen.
      Point 3, well spotted I hadn't noticed that, inexcusable, a potentially fatal accident waiting to happen, especially in a boat that goes that fast. it should have a cover.

    You should definitely have a secondary set of props on board especially if you plan on doing long distances like this because its not uncommon for these cleavers to break, especially in rough water if you dont throttle it when the boat leaves the water the re-entry is what causes the prop to break.

      @@Jakrabat94 Yea I know, it's unbelievably expensive. Those are large 6-blade cleaver racing propellers, and I assume they are top of the line because neither Jon nor Bernico would settle for less than that. You have to keep in mind that the boat is equipped with basically the most powerful marine racing engines on the market i.e. Mercury Racing's most powerful engines (up to 1550 hp each if using racing fuel) so they really require the highest quality propellers for those kinds of speeds and the incredible torque they produce. I know a lot of guys use a brand called "Hering Propellers" for their high-end powerboats so you should check it out and look at the eye-watering cost.

      One blade had a fracture then failed under normal use . Could have been damaged at initial boat launching or during sea trial period ( hit rock bottom).
