As you said in the video, I too have been watching the Exo-6 prices creep upwards with each release with concern. It's not surprising that this relatively basic release is now hitting a higher ceiling for their "standard" characters...that doesn't mean it's welcome or easy to accept. The price point for this basic uniformed Captain Pike figure is nearing the range of the much more complex Locutus figure which has tons of unique sculpted and complex painted pieces by comparison (easier to identify where your money is going).
Similar to what you mentioned in your video, there's a collecting dynamic specific to Star Trek characters that I think makes even small price increases a more sensitive change for potential customers. Unlike a lot of other themes/intellectual property where one might purchase 1 - 4 characters from a given movie line e.g. a Marvel or Justice League movie; Star Trek is built around crews of 7-9 main characters. It's pretty natural to want to have a complete crew of your favorite series (and there are a LOT of series).
I think there's a tipping point where collectors will have to make a significant decision to cut out an entire series e.g. focus just on TNG instead of TNG and DS9 if they see that they'll be spending an extra $30 per character. This also runs the risk of ruining the Exo business model since they are purposefully teasing out the lines that fans REALLY want e.g. TWOK and TNG by using the less popular lines to fund work as they go e.g. Enterprise, SNW, VOY etc. At this point I just have to hope the business model and the other collectors hold on for us to be able to get to see the rest of the promised releases come to market.
Well said on all counts. Especially in regards to the characters per show. With re uses of so many accessories, squeeze the margins down for collectors. Make the lines more accessible to collectors who want them all. Even if overall profit was lower: the exposure of more figures from the company being in the market and In collection rooms could bring so many more sales from us. I’m so happy with how pike turned out. Chapel on the other hand is making me hope it was just a prototype and they are gonna work on her a bit more.
They have said that even though pike is up for pre order, that they are still in the tweeking stages for the others including chapel!
@@TheBenThomasShow yup. I remember seeing a discovery version of pike a while back so I didn’t know wether that gave him a bit of a push for the development stage or not. I love chapel and I’d love a 1:6 of her but if it looks how she did in the picture they released then I’m good to pass. She looked old lol.
Pre ordered my disabled hero. I have Ataxia and I am slowly going to need a wheelchair like pike. He’s what I model my life on

He’s a pick-up for me as I’m mainly collecting Captain’s along with more of the TNG figures and TWOK.
I think there’s a valid point about price increases but that just the way of the world I suppose. People who want to collected full crews across multiple shows were always going to have a problem even if the prices were fixed and never changed other than figures with more accessories like Sisko or the Regula 1 Saavik.
Absolutely! But I also do think they could shave profit margins down slightly on figures where almost all accessories are recycled to make them more accessible to collectors. Especially since there are so many figures per trek series people would want. Ensemble casts of 7bor more characters. But you also still are right. Even at 180 each, they would be expensive lines. I just hope they keep it slow on the price increases and don't just do it because they know they can. But that's also just business so🤷 ha thanks for watching and for the comment good sir
B'Elanna is on her way. I love Voyager, but unfortunately got into this series very late. Only have the EMH (The Doctor) so far. I think he's okay. You're right though that the Voyager series isn't the best. On the other hand, let's be honest, it's going to be a long, long time before we see these characters from other manufacturers (if ever). So I'm glad that EXO-6 got involved here.
Voyager is my second favorite series to be honest. So much nostalgia for me. Part of the reason I'm so hard on that line. However in the right lighting , it's still obvious who they all are. And I bet the collection is looking great for you!! Thanks so much for watching
I agree, the Voyager line could be better. It is not bad at all but does look soft in many aspects. went it first came out I went in hard and bought duplicates of all up to 7 of 9. I am sure you can find the figures you are looking for because I am sure many like me who bought multiple and are now looking to trim down to make way for future offerings of the TNG crew.
Saw this come along and my first reaction was NICE! I enjoy the show and the acting and storytelling are on point for Star Trek. With that said I don't know if I will pick this up unless I expand to all captains which I have thus far. More of a maybe and will see when it becomes available for immediate purchase either through side show to take advantage of the discounts and points system to get the most bang for my buck.

Pike is more expensive than usual because they had to outsource part of the production plus that phaser rifle was very expensive to make.
I do feel like Nan Jin always has a creative reason for why things cost more lol and maybe this is 1000% true. But it doesn't explain while figures like paris, Kim, chakotay, standard data as a small sample all have increasing prices with the same re used accessories. But I also get its a business and they are out to make money. Nan Jin has lost my trust , so now everything he says feels like an excuse not a reason. But I love trek so not much I can do when they are the only game in town 🤗 and like I said in the video, still cheaper than mondo lol thanks for watching! And supporting the channel 🍻

Pike looks good! The show is hit or miss for me, but I like it for the most part. They get Spock wrong, but let's see where they go with it.

Do you know if/when they are gonna do the enterprise D Picard? I’m trying to do a whole captain thing and he’s the last one I will need (assuming I ever get my preorders) and I thought about getting the one they’ve already released but I don’t want him in the voyager uniform and then I thought about getting the Picard version of him but I think it would just bug me if he were in the D uniform.

I do like the show but not enough to get the figure. I love all the old classics. But I have to say it does look stunning. But their prices are getting a little crazy

I’m done with EXO6 until they release the Wrath of Khan series or TNG. I still think they aren’t on the same level of quality as Hot Toys so asking those prices isn’t warranted.
I mean time be fair I haven't seen a hot toys at 225 for a long time thats not being sold at bargain bin or for secondary but I get your meaning. The price def is climbing!!! Thanks for tuning in again bud
