My father is extremely racist towards every single person that’s not black. One time he was being extremely rude and doing the eye thing that people do to mock Asians with monolid eyes. I told him to never do that again and what he said was so stupid that I felt embarrassed. He said “I can’t be racist to Asians because they’re smarter than us.” What the actual fuck! That made no sense whatsoever.

The funny (or sad) thing is that he in self-internalizing the racist truth that he believe in, that Asians are more INTELLIGENT and therefore SUPERIOR to Black people in that sense, so he feels it's ok to stoop low and make fun of them, because they wouldn't do that in his face.
It's actually pathetic in that sense, because he is outwardly announcing to the world "HEY! I'm INFERIOR and I KNOW IT! And I'll REINFORCE THAT NOTION!"
It's such a toxic self-defeating circle, I hope he sees the irony in that, and makes him look weaker.
Just be glad you are not caught in that same trap, and I hope that you can one day break through to him, for his sake as a rational man..

I am Latino, and unfortunately, there are instances of xenophobia present, particularly among some older individuals and a few younger people. This xenophobia has historically been directed towards individuals from Peru, Colombia, and Haiti, often based on the color of their skin. False. Prejudice isn't the same as the systems that support the dominance of one racial group (white people) over all others. Where do the dominant forms of entertainment come from? (western nation's)What is the most widely spoken language? (English, even with China beating it with native speakers, English is still the number one spoken language.) What are the beauty standards in the world? Who were the primary colonizers in the world? (There were only 5 countries that weren't colonized by European countries and even those made deals. )
The system of racism creates a racist culture that bleeds into how people treat/see one another. And it's based in a white dominant model.
So no, POC can't be racist, but they can participate in the racism of the dominant culture, through prejudice and internalized racism/oppression.

If one was faced with a false accusation, how might they defend themselves if their job was on the line? If this random person was accusing me of stealing their wallet, I would present evidence. Eyewitness accounts, CCTV, or perhaps an alibi. When it comes to accusations of thought crimes you're SOL if they're coming from a so-called, 'marginalized group'. Even being on the receiving end of racism several times, I suppose I could have proved the occurrence only once, but I didn't need to. People believed my word. Saying that is like declaring a curse on all future generations of little black girls and boys who are born into this world, saying that we don’t have that kind of power now and will never be powerful enough, NEVER be powerful enough to insult other people in the way they insult us. Just because of our ancestor’s history. Aint that messed tf up! Why do you think all these young black kids be feeling so defeated all the time in comparison to their peers? Because both black AND white people are telling them that because of what color skin they have, they don’t have a voice, they don’t have power, they don’t have the capability to be violent and evil to other people but that’s something we will always have to endure. It sets a child’s mind up for failure and disappointment. Maybe these white kids that are on the same level financially and family wise as us doing well are only doing well because they’re always told they have some inherent power to themselves, just cause of their skin. I would much rather be told I have generations of power behind me in my skin that will never not benefit me in my life. That type of talking perpetuates racism because it gassed up all these mf white ppl’s skin!!! Tell your black kids they have some inherent power just in being themselves and they will take advantage of that encouragement, just as the white kids are doing today because of all these stupid black mfs saying they above us and we arent on their level enough to be racist to any race. I was lectured on racism, hate and how its bad.. so on, so on. In the school however i saw that everyone hates Gypsies (its an open hate there, its worse then in USA). I didnt understand because i was tought that everybody is good. And i was a proud speeker: "i dont hate anyone"... Untill i started to bartend. I hit 18y, i went to the world and i met ppl...and i can tell u Gypsies rly are discusting ppl. I hated them for so looong, and i can tell u in all my 6y of bartending i only met 2 normal ppl that are Gipsys, only 2. But its been couple of years since then, i moved to Germany (like any other balkan millennial lol). And here they dont hate Gipsys, they have their own hate groups. So i reflected, and i figured it out. It not about the goverment, its not the whites, its not the Gypsies, its not the language, its ALL of the above. Its the whole sistem that was created trough the years. It could have been any other minority in balkan and it would be the same. And i can see that in america with blacks. It doesnt matter that ur black, you cold have need white irish, and given the same history it would be the same. So right now, i can say that im not racist, i understand it, its not about the race. Its about specific culture in any given place. I only hate balkan Gypsies, others are not part of that history. When i met a german born gypsy, its a most normal person, but in balkan they are idiots x2.

It is sufficient if it is based on a lie that just has been told often enough. Organisation is not a requirement for racism. Intent is not a requirement for racism. What's wild is that since racism is a set of preconceptions, it is highly different from culture to culture. 20 years ago I would not have picked up on all American racism just because I didn't know all the tropes. Racism is also trained. I am worried that none of these people so far have recognized that correcting yourself is pretty much the only way to rid yourself of it. And that not passing it on to the next generations is the real challenge.

Most people who you'd think or call racist, are just either prejudice or bigoted. And just because you discriminate against someone, doesn't make you a racist. I mean, you could discriminate against gay people...how the fuck is that going to make you racist? Discrimination = bigoted

"you don't know what other ways they were disadvantaged." THIS. I grew up on a street that is historically low-income (mill town area). The houses are all falling in on themselves and the street is next to a retired tire plant (which had a chemical spill contaminating the ground). I would play by the train tracks growing up and faced so much bullying. Lots of family members in and out of prison and my family was riddled with substance use disorder. My nana (who raised me) had to drop out of school in the 6th grade to take care of her mother. My mom was the first to graduate high school. I also was born with a rare genetic disorder and have had lifelong health issues and physical disabilities. It took me years to go to college (had to start off in community college) and now I study neuroscience on a full academic scholarship. It was incredibly hard for me to break out of the cycle and my disadvantaged circumstances. There are very few people in my current college who share similar experiences with me. So while yes, white people have different types of privilege within our society, they also can have areas where they are discriminated against (disability, LGBTQ, etc.). Please, everyone, do not monolith people based on your experience with a few people of one race or based on media. Not all white people come from great homes or middle class. Not all Asian people had tiger parents or grew up with lots of opportunities. Not all black people can relate to stories of struggle growing up. As a woman with physical disabilities, I know what it's like to live in a world that is not accommodating to me. Is this worse than racism? No. But please don't disregard someone's experiences just because of their race.

is it safe to say that both sexes are sexist? given that every individual (being part of a social identity group, thus they must identify themselves with something), and we're predisposed to having some sort of competitive attitude towards other groups? (which function was to maintain in-group bond). Even third genders and fourth and fifth and so on genders can still be sexist, as seen in the (many) hostile and hateful protests they organize in the name of their respective gender(s), blaming things on the white men or females with privilege or the feminist movement they deem as leaving them behind

@@devinaayona3785 In my opinion, sexism and racism all have something in common, and it is that we humans are generalizing something. I do not think the habit/instinct that we have of generalizing is ever going to go away, this has been backed by science that we do this to survive in a tribe and maintain an "in-group" bond. So in one way or another, even if it is unnoticeable/unobvious, we are all sexist, racist, etc. With that said, even though we will never be able to defeat racism and sexism, we hope to fight against the noticeable sexism, racism, etc. to at least decrease the inequality gap as much as possible.

There's no greater privilege in life than being a hot chick. When hot chicks get older, many are completely shattered by their reality of no longer getting as much attention as they once did. It's mind boggling how unaware people are about their privilege at the time they were in demand. People recognize privilege much more often when its something they lack, not when it's something they have.

@@yokubo7220 Well, lets say I cant be racist. Does that make me saying "I think that black person over there will rob my house" magically not be racist? I mean, I cant be racist after all.
Saying "I am not racist" and "I can't be racist" are 2 complete seperate things. I am not a racist, I would never judge anyone on their appearance to the point that I simply ask the closest person for help. Regardless if it's a black person who I happen to find intimidating(I find some white people intimidating too, intimidation is a thing based on patterns and social expectations, not necessarily based on racism), or an asian woman in a car dealership. However, I could still make a comment that will sound extremely racist, even though the intentions werent racist at all. Or I can make a very racial based joke, and while it is a joke, some people simply take too much offense to that. Claiming you cant be racist is a claim you cannot possibly fill. Especially since the only way not to come over as racist, you'd have to explain every single detail after having stated something that could be percieved as racist.
I could say in a restaurant "oh that man has some amazing chicken for dinner" while pointing at a black man who obviously is having some extremely tasty looking chicken for dinner. I can bet you 100$ that someone in that restaurant will think its racist for me to say that. But if I say the exact same sentence while pointing to a white man, suddenly, not racist. This is exactly why you can never claim that you cant be racist.
