I was rooting for Shoyo to be happy since he did have guilt and regret.

It took me a couple of rewatches to really care about Shoyo's arc in the story because he was just so unnecessarily horrible to Shoko. And she was always so lovely and trying to be kind and friendly in the face of all this unwarranted hatred and bullying 💔
And I love that Shoko basically tells Ueno "If you're gonna insult me do it properly, STUPID!" 😂
You have to watch all Shinkai's movies 😊
