I’ve been flying 5 years using photogrammetry and I’ve been trying to convince my employer to invest in the Rock system and software. They want me to put together a pitch for them. I plan on attending the demo in Richmond VA coming up next month (hopefully) This video and the Indiana Drones channel really is a blessing. Super excited to hear you are adding photogrammetry for Orthomosiacs! That is a great deliverable that clients LOVE. I know your laser focused on lasers, but that is such a cool addition! Can’t wait to see what’s next and hopefully I’ll be using the Rock Pro soon!

RGB LIDAR is the future of surveying; it won't be long until this system gains also multispectral capacity to become a flying RS Lab. As with many breakthroughs, this technology will claim many traditional geodesy jobs while creating entirely new ones. It is up to us to either participate in or ignore this revolution.
The demand is there the boomers are retiring.. why replace with robotics.
So I've been down the rabbit hole learning about drones for the past few months. Mostly I was focused on learning about FPV until I came across Dylan Gorman's video about orthomosaic photogrammetry. I was aware that the method he demonstrates does have some 3D point cloud mapping, but I knew LIDAR scanning required more specialized equipment to get right --- seeing something like this has blown my mind. I am deeply interested in this product, but as I am at the start of my drone journey, first I plan to just learn to pilot by aquiring an avata and going wild with it, and then... this looks like it will be an expensive following step that I am strongly considering.

@@IndianaDrones I have bookmarked the link and will keep this in mind, I'm based in Aus, so for now i'm just focused on learning to fly and then getting my drone business operator licence with CASA (our FAA equivalent) -- it'll probably take me around 6 months to organize all that, so I will likely be reaching out after that point, and in the meantime I'll begin setting aside what I need for the acquisition of the r3 pro. Exchange rates being what they are, the camera is more like $50,000 aud lol, and while I can afford that, I'll be taking some time to make sure that I'm skilled enough to trust myself flying a weighty drone with an expensive payload attached. I will also look at what courses i need to take locally, as well as more general courses like the ones offered by Dylan/and you too if you have any lol (i haven't checked yet).
I've got a background in 3D design, but never did much work with 3D point clouds, so I'm curious how much of that skillset will transfer over and perhaps even give me new ways to experiment with my existing 3D knowledge.. Anyway, thanks for the reply, I look forward to reaching out at a point where I'm confident in taking the plunge on getting a LiDAR biz up and running.

What is required to Mount XT32 to DJI M350?
Does the 26 MP camera have an mechanical or electronic shutter. Also is the camera synced aligned to the GPS antenna.
What is the difference between this sensor and the Inertial Labs Resepi X32 sensor released in 2021?
Love the content, question for new pilots looking to get into LiDAR surveying. What other licenses do you need (if any) besides part 107 to get into drone surveying with LiDAR? I’ve read conflicting things saying you need geological survey license as well. Keep up the good work!

So I'm looking for mosquito larvae habitat. I need water surface level along with temperature in order to accurately plan a propper treatment plan to combat the world's deadliest predator. Im interestedto say the least, but between FAA, app management, and budget, i am fighting 2 of humanity's greatest enemies. I look forward to the advancement of this technology. It would be so beneficial if this software could interface with the big ag drones to broadcast lavicides
so the XT32 is more accurate than the XT32M2X ? Hesai claims they have the same range accuracy, only the vertical field of view changes (and some other things)
I have side by side flights and the M2X is a bit noisier. I suspect it is on the discrimination of the returns.
Thinking about the continuous waveform of light that comes back to the sensor over time. The waveform needs to trigger a return. The more returns, the more the chances are for noise.
That being said, this is my hypothesis as to why. I do not know the actual reason. Would be interesting to capture all the raw data coming back to the sensor then look at the threshold of the values of analog signal that it really triggered on.

Will it or do you have plans to connect to a Skydio drone?
Does the Skydio allow for payload attchment? This is more for drones in the league of DJi Matrice series at the very least..
