Used to work at a dollar store pretty much tucked under a bridge in an old part of town nobody went to often. It was almost always vacant all day, the windows were plastered with ads so i practically had no view outside unless i opened the doors. I was 17 at the time (2017) and had just graduated school so i needed a job because i wasn’t sure what to do next. I hadn’t paid my phone bill so my phone had no service either, but i did have this album on there. Just this album. So daily, i’d roam an empty store (after cleaning and organizing the occasional section) with this playing on my headphones. It was a weird vibe, i’d see no faces from 2:45 pm to 11:30 pm. So to me that place was like purgatory, no day/night cycle except for when i go in and leave. The hours felt endless because of boredom and me not checking what time it is on my phone/could be outside.
I’m not saying it was awesome but im not saying it sucked, all i’m saying is, that was a very weird time in my life because i’d listen to this same album 7-8 times a day for the next 6 months i worked there.
I’m not even sure if i saw over 100 people in that entire time combined.
P.S. My manager would hide all the way at the back in a small office and sleep literally the entire shift, which didn’t bother me because i got away with a ton of getting paid to kill boredom.
Also, the store was actually really big for 1 cashier to work around but since literally almost nobody came in, it balanced itself out.
That was awesome!
I had a similar experience, except I stayed at a large campground surrounding a small crystal-clear "lake," as the owners of the campgrounds would call it. Usually, when I went to take one last loop around the lake to check on the people I made friends with who were staying the night in their enormous campers (the campground was extremely expensive to stay year-round), the only album downloaded on my new phone was this one (dang the service there sucked). So every night I stayed there, I would look up into the stars and see the reflection of the moon on the still water and listen to this song on repeat. Sometimes I would stay up for the whole night to see the stars shift over across the sky, and since this was not near a city, the sky was seen clearly. One night I accidentally slept on the shore and woke up to an extraordinary morning where the sun brightened the horizon, casting an orange canvas I had never seen before. It was simply out of this world. Unfortunately, I do not go there anymore because someone else bought the grounds, but the summers I spent there will never be forgotten.

I remember listening to this on my way to my ex's house, always at night, as that's when I got off work. Always this album too, every day, for years. We'd go on night drives through the foothills of the mountains, or on highways, and this is what I commonly played, seeing as it was synth, which we both liked, and had no lyrics so it could be background music as we talked, looked at the stars, woods, and empty highways. You never really realize the significance of a song/songs until the special moment it's associated with passes. Oh, what I would give to turn back time and fix the mistakes... Now this is how I get to re-live the best moments in my life.

used to bang this on the way home from school on the train, on cold dark winter evenings, looking out in the darkness and thinking about life. It was only 3 years ago but it feels like a damn lifetime, and listening to this now gives me that happy nostalgia buzz. god damnit I love you HOME.
about the same, on a public transport. I look out the door and see sunny spots. It was cold yet I feel warmth. I hear the humming of the engine and see the dogs frolicking in front of a shop. The cool air soothes my lungs. We go to the highway and everything slips away into a blur. I would walk the rest of the way to the school with a normal pace and as I go near our classroom, I say goodbye to the cool air and the road which accompanied me.
And now it was 6 years ago .-.
I first discovered Resonance, the album, and even HOME through a star wars content creator named EckhartsLadder. His outros were composed by parts of Resonance, and through that I discovered a whole new version of music that I'd never heard before. And I know, in my heart, that HOME will stick with me forever.
We've finally found HOME.
*"Who are the men in the cover?"* some ask.
No one knows, they're probably NASA scientists from the 60s and 70s. The artist used 2 random pictures: the one with them working and the center one with the holographic side profile from National Geographic.
but to quote the artist itself as a source:
_"At the time, I had an illuminated, sculptural face framed by some 70’s era Op-Art that I didn't have a plan for. Looking at it while listening to Odyssey, I saw it matched the mood of the album. I believed the mysterious, overwhelming impression the composition gave fit the totalizing absorption the music created in the listener. I very much felt sucked into Home’s world when I listened to Odyssey, and knew others would feel similarly._
_As an alternative route for additional options, I went in a more vintage and technological direction. In hindsight, I don’t believe I consciously was prioritizing a black and white theme, but when I discovered the large machine cube, I knew I should pursue it. It provided a moody backdrop for a more specific foreground I had yet to find. Coming across pictures from early rocketry experiments, I found what I needed: an image of two men bemusedly watching a third interact with a machine. I thought this worked well with the mechanical backdrop, but now felt the composition needed a point of color to set it all off. I was hoping for something that spoke to the 1970’s or 80’s that I thought Home’s synthesizers nodded to. I was lucky that National Geographic did a piece on holograms in the 1980’s. The piece included an arrangement of faces that I thought worked perfectly with the rest of the piece as a colorful, abstract presence that gave the image life."_

Progressing through the tracks while working through my morning mails, sipping my latte, enjoying the flow and vibe of each song. The best album for sitting alone drunk in the dark, or alternatively out on a road trip through the mountains with friends in the summer.
This whole album is great to just vibe to. This music feels so nostalgic without ever making an impact on my past. It's a strange feeling, but yet I find myself consumed by it. Those memories of days where I had no worries and my life was all about wasting time with my friends and having fun. I just started college this past Monday, and I just wish I could go back and play through my childhood again. Playing my first game, having my first kiss, learning to ride my first bike, learning to swim, going to the beach for the first time, etc. I just wish I could go back to when things were so much simpler...
Resonance makes me feel high but the next song helps me Come Back Down
The nostalgic feeling that this album aroused on me the first time I listened to it now becomes real. Now I'm really nostalgic for the moments I've lived while listening to this masterpiece... and it really feels like home.
I'm home.
Thank you. I'll never leave.
It's crazy how much hype this album (Resonance, specifically) got. I remember I moved away from the city onto a beach condo with an amazing view. Huge 3 bedroom place all to myself... and the building was mostly empty, so I got to get drunk/stoned and blast music at 3am if I wanted to. This album came out during that time of my life and it became my go to at least once a day. Then I started seeing all the "Resonance" hype and just yesterday, I checked the price of the vinyl (I have one)... it was selling for $1,000.
It was this and Seaside Lovers - Memories in Beach House. That was my soundtrack for a year.

This album is a new emotion within itself. Wow, I was studying and listening to this masterpiece, but, suddenly, I stop looking at the book in my front, and start felling, thinking about it. It feels special. The current of thoughts going so fast, I realize how much I was in love with the knowledge itself. I am in love with learning. And those frequencies, those sounds and patterns, became a soundtrack of my own reflection by the humans, the universe, the life, the death, the Earth, the meaningless moment and details that are a part of everything. Everything and nothing. Forever and never. A paradox. A magical nerve impulse conditioned for this music.
Thank you for this.
It's like letting you into a world you want but a world you will never get to experience
This album brings me back to every bright and dark memory and folds it into one light that makes everything just feel okay. I swear when i listen to this i hear every old game, every old movie, and every old show that i hold so deeply in my heart. I swear ive heard songs from HOME in Stranger things, Twin peaks, and i remember there was an older movie i watched and i was able to call out one of their songs by name. Truly a masterpiece and a gem that needs to be held precious, i will never forget them. Much love for the whole album but i think "come back down" is a top for me, ive been listening to that since sophomore year of high school and it led me to all of your music. I cant say HOME alone saved me, but a mixture of this, JSE, and a really good friend of mine helped me through high school. Decay is literally the best song on here
Even in the vaporwave universe, Home has such a unique sound, you can always identify their work
The most notable misconception about HOME's Odyssey is that it's vaporwave. Odyssey isn't vaporwave since it does not sample audio that is sampled in the genre nor was it composed with any instruments from the genre. HOME used a software emulation of the Minimoog from Arturia called the Mini V for most of the album, and if you know enough about analog synthesizers like these, then you'll know they are widely used in synthwave and rarely used in the vaporwave scene. In short, Odyssey isn't vaporwave since it shares no characteristics with the techniques and styles of the genre. Odyssey is more EDM, but more specifically synthwave.

I borrowed their long board and road it around town at night. First time I've done something like this. I got lost. Walked a mile down a train track. I fell down in the middle of the road and almost got the long board and myself crushed by a car. I'm so happy to have had Odyssey along for my little adventure.
I'm glad to be HOME.
Man do I love Summoning Salt for using almost every song from this
The intro throws me into an existential crisis, making me realize how fast time has been. I wanna go back to when I was younger, when I was happier. Im so unsure of my future, of college and everything. Idk man, this just feels so off.
Don't dwell too long on the past, I have been there. Everything passes but memories and experiences aren't. Use those wisely :). Live in the middle of looking at the past, present and future. Don't get too overwhelmed. Don't take it all in all at once. There will be a day where you will be ok.
Anyways, how are you now after 9 months of typing this comment?
All you touch, you change.
Welcome home.
Is vapor and synth. Sounds of future.
