I think that music reflects our mental state of the moment. Basically he is asking her if she is stuck in the past listening to their song, like he is. Or has she moved to songs that are allowing her to heal, or songs that get her moving and dancing. Or has she moved on and found a new love and a new "their" song. All the while he is stuck in the past with their song thinking if he could just fix it, find out what went wrong, she would come back.

So glad to see you react to this one. My ex-girlfriend and I reconnected over this song after a couple years apart when I sent her this exact video. We've been back together for 5 and married for over 2 years now and couldn't be happier. Chris Stapleton, and this song especially, will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Chris covers every part of our lives that music touches - from the everyday norm of riding a train to work, or trying to figure how a good relationship goes bad, or feeling good about life in the good times...he says it all with those lyrics that instantly brings so many pictures to our minds....all I can say is ... INCREDIBLE!

Love your reactions but I have a different interpretation. He’s reminiscing about an ex girlfriend. He’s wondering where she is and what she’s doing. The line about listening to a love song with someone new says to me that she’s moved on and got a new man in her life. She’s listening to music with her new man like Chris and her used to do. The line about how good love goes bad is about him regretting letting her go and losing what they had.
Very similar.....he knows it was a good thing whatever the distance there is hope, he wants to believe there is a chance that she is like him trying to figure it out how to get back together but he is unsure is she like him, is she upset, is she with another?

Country music radio rejected this when it came out and the susequent album has been scrapped and has not been heard to this day. Traveller did not hit until almost two years later. But the recorded version of this sounds like crap.

He won the 'Most Influential Musician' of the year award in China! Now people calls him 'Master of Songs' and 'artistically overdeveloped' to the point where he can be intimidating, haunting and overwhelming to others including other talents.
He has a wide dynamic range, he can:
-sing/write/compose music and songs for different styles or genres (you will find out more if you check some of his works out)
-create alternative type songs and music that are unique and special
-create musical theater like dramatic performances
-play instruments
-rewrite/recompose/re-arrange/re-create songs or music from 1 style or genre into a different style or genre in just LESS than 24 hours and performs right after
-combine different styles and genres into just 1 song
Sometimes he didn't eat for 2 days so he can work on his song and sing clean. he literally puts his body on the line for his work.
He holds his MARs concert annually, his concert tickets (90,000) at the Birds Nest in Beijing in 2018 in September sold out in 1minute.56seconds, 120,000 people were online at the same time hunting his tickets, the system nearly crashed. So Chenyu had an emergency conference call with his people involved to add a second night concert. Chenyu felt bad so many fans couldn't get tickets, that happened before aswell! He is a multi-persona, multi-style, multi-talent and multi-skilled artist (multi-dimensional artist), he can mix and blend different styles of tone or music into 1 song and performance and make it sound amazing. His voice is like water, he can adapt it to sync well with any tune.
He is so inspiring that other people from other countries had their passion of playing music, writing, or composing reignited after witnessing him, he literally cured depression from some foreigners and make them martians. He doesn't know how respected, loved, and known he is outside of China because youtube is banned in China. Whats impressive about him is that he doesn't even enter any foreign shows or hold any big concert in other countries or doesn't sing in english all the much and yet still getting all this love and respect from the outside. I mean he does everything domestically and still getting support from abroad but too bad that he doesn't know how known he is outside of China because he can't access youtube. There are 33+ million martians out there now! His fans are called martian (like myself).
He is now the top performer in China, even some westerners view him as a music prodigy and artistically overdeveloped!
Dimash (Singer 2017) and Chenyu (Singer 2018) both got 2nd places in the singer shows BUT they were best and the most loved. He just won Singer 2020.
Chenyu is so different, unique, and special that he does not care about making money through making lots of music videos or selling lots of CDs nope, he'd rather get close and connect with his martians (Chenyu's fans) in concerts and music shows and make LESS because he is not greedy or selfish and truly loves his martians. Chenyu does not just sing just to impress you he performs to deliver to you a story, a message, emotions, thoughts and conversations and take you on a journey like no other. He delivers to you ART! He is not just your typical trendy money making mainstream singer, he is a true artist!
I became a martian last year in April and I have been following Chenyu ever since and watch and listen to him everyday!
Some singers touches your heart but Chenyu connects with your mind and soul. Some singers takes you on a journey to another world, but Chenyu takes you on a journey to HIS PERSONAL unique musical DIMENSION. Some singers sings just to impress but Chenyu performs to show his REAL TRUE GENUINE self which involves his p.o.v, thoughts, ideas and feelings. Some singers has the voice that will blow you away but Chenyu has that unique, special and inspiring music/song compositions and that ETHEREAL voice style and performer's presence & aura and his risk taking bravery that will mesmerizes you and make you feel like he is personally connecting to you!
Chenyu is the last style bender, Bruce Lee of music, and a music prodigy!
