Glad to see that Medtronic is going in the right direction with their CGM's. I was a Medtronic user for over 20 yrs, and their Guardian CGM's were just to problematic with constant 'Sensor updating' errors. I was using the Medtronic 770G in manual mode with Dexcom (that sensor works flawlessly). Because of my active lifestyle, I was experiencing too many lows where my Endo told me I HAD to go on an automated system, so I am now with Tandem as it can work with the Dexcom Sensors in automation. Hoping to one day go back to Medtronic, but we will have to see where technology takes us. If Medtronic would have made their pumps work with the Dexcom Sensor, I would still be with them, hands down!
36 years from istanbul , was diagnosed 2 months ago . I still can't believe I'm watching this stuff , pump , cgm , this and that I was a healthy fit guy trying to achieve the highest and now all my youtube is diabetes.
Anyways from my understanding the best pump out there is medtronic which can give you average 100 . My doctor suggested me to avoid pumps for the first year but man I love to wake up in the morning eat something and not looking at my blood suger 150 times.
I hope and wish the further could be better with all these technologies.

As a 780g user I can’t wait for the instinct to launch it’s about time they followed the advancements of of cgm’s like the Libre. It’s a 20second application with an hour warm up and currently just wipes the floor with the guardian system.

I love my medtronic 780g. It has changed my life. I couldn't imagine living without out my pump now.
I hate lot of things about 780G, especially notifications. Why can't I confirm the notifications from my phone or smartwatch? (for obvious security reasons, I get it, why I can't bolus from them).
If I type in my blood sugar with a low value, I don't want to be notified in a minute about it (when I already put it in my pocket, so I have to get it back in my hands), as I am aware of it, it is just stupid. There are lot of other scenario, which is awkward too.

It’s also massive compared to the PDM or t:slim. They’ve not made a physical upgrade to their lineup in YEARS. My endo doesn’t even recommend them anymore. I was her first patient on a tandem pump and she’s been recommending them to people that are fine with tubes since 2016 because of that
You can thank hackers for that. Animas closed up shop when it was discovered that the Animas Ping could be hacked to deliver insulin without the owner knowing. Due to this most pump companies have now quit making it possible to give a bolus without using the pump to do it. That is what I miss about the Ping I could check my BG then use the BG meter to give the bolus that was needed.
IMHO, this is a result of lazy IT programmers… WHY, to fix these alerts to specific BG values, disregarding the direction of change in the BG? E.g. BG is increasing, reaches the alert level - gives the signal. Later, when the situation is resolved, so the BG going down (right direction) reaching the same alert value (but this time, reverse direction) the same alert is delivered by the pump - it is extremely annoying! The coding task is super easy to solve - though I’m not an IT expert…. All in all, there’s a LOT to improve with Medtronics gadgets…
Why does it feel like Medtronic is behind others? I get they are working on the CGM size, but a 2 hr warm up still? Libre 3 60 mins and 14 day wear as a stand alone. I use that instead of the CGM3. The 3 or 4 is way to bulky, have to calibrate and while I like the fact the CGM3 works with my pump...it's really no different than using a stand alone. Libre 3 no sticks or 12 hr calibrations and it's pretty spot on if I check my BG with a stick. I am frustrated with Medtronic TBH. So much taping and it's time they actually get ahead of the game instead of playing catch up. IMHO
Hi Justin. I just ran across your channel yesterday Aug.13. I’ve been a type 1 for 66 years, believe it or not, and have seen changes through the years. I’ve used Medtronic products now for several years. Their pumps have always been great(a 630 G now) and very reliable but their sensors have not. I used them and had to pay out of pocket as they weren’t covered by insurance. The cost and inefficiency made me switch to Dexcom sensors when suggested by a member of my endocrinology team. It made things so much better because insurance approved and highly more accurate. Only negative is entering my BG readings into the pump. Now looking at changes again with the 780G. It would be nice to have a closed loop system but they need to step up with their CGM efficiency and get the FDA approval quickly.

I've type 1 for 54 years. Have used medtronic since their 1st pump. I have the 780g. The Guardian 4 has been VERY accurate for me, where previous cgm's were not.

Thanks for the video, I found it very informative and gives me high hopes of the future. I have been a T1 diabetic for 53years and technology has come a long way. It will be great if Medtronic's can get approved and intergrade a CGM like the one shown in this video. I especially like the idea of an insulin pump with no tubing.
I was a medtronic user for almost 10 years and just got fed up with all the issues and the hassle from customer service when there was an issue. Not to mention they seem to be a few steps behind other on the market at any given time. Compeition is always good, it drives other companies to performer and do better, but it seems like Medtronic is playing catch up to Dexcom, Omnipod, and others.
What are you using currently? In January I will hit the 4 year point with Medtronic. I mentioned to my endocrinologist that I might want to switch to the newest Dexcom and maybe combine it with the Omnipod. He said the customer service with Omnipod is horrible!
I’ve been an Omnipod user for 12+ years. I’ve always had good customer service from them when I’ve had to call. I would highly recommend them.
I just with Tandem would become more water proof. I wasn't crazy about the "bump" size of the Omnipod.
Love that video, really appreciate it! The Minimed technology pipeline is quite deep. Love the patch pump, with phone control, the one piece sensor, and the smart watch integration. Hope to see some of these in the near future.
I currently use the Medtronic In-Pen and would love a CGM thats small and works with the In-Pen. Very exciting news. Im looking forward to all this tech
In Australia the we have the Novopen 6 integrated with the Libre view app. Is that in your country yet?
What I have learned so far about two insulin pumps -- the Beta Bionics iLet insulin pump, and the Medtronic 780G pump which I like better. I have been TYPE 1 diabetic for 43 years since 1980. I like to keep things as simple as possible -- never wanted an insulin pump, but I have been having too many LOWs lately, and newer insulin pumps are finally getting sophisticated enough, and easy to use, to where I need one. At first I wanted a Beta Bionics iLet insulin pump -- because it does everything for you. BUT, I learned that it only reduces your Ha1c to the recommended American Diabetes Assoc guideline goal of HA1c of about 7.0 (which is an average blood sugar of 154!) No, that's not good enough. By contrast, the new Medtronic 780G can take your average blood sugar SAFELY down to 100 which is a Ha1c of 5.1 (which is what a NON-diabetic's average blood sugar can be), and it achieves that WITHOUT giving you any significant low blood sugar episodes (according to various youtube videos I have watched). So a Medtronic 780G is what I want.

Hello, T1D from Italy, currently on a 780g with G4, which I confirm is a very good pump with not so good sensor (slow warm-up, relatively frequent detach, a hassle to put on compared to dexcom or freestyle).
Can’t wait to have the Instinct to test 😊
780G pump itself is ok but the guardian sensors really need to be improved and fast.
GS are waaaay behind after so many years and those inserting procedures are ridiculously annoying and time consuming.
Thats why I use G7 and Libre, I will only switch back once Simplera/Instinct is available asap. Awaiting.....
Very informative video thank you so much for doing this. I just started on my new 780G pump and I’m pretty excited about it.Only downside is the sensor being put on my arm wish they had sensor like DEXCOM that just snaps on my arm that’s it!
I have been a type 1 for 15 years or so, and man has it come a loooong way since the barbaric shots. I'm on the 780g w/ G4 sensor, and it's a game changer ... It's incredible. Better interface, so less button smashing, one fingerstick a day, and rarely have any spikes over 250... I love this thing. Also, I don't understand how everyone is having so many problems with accuracy. My G4 so far has been much more accurate than the G3, without question.
Have you tried any other sensors? I use the FreeStyle Libre 3 and it is way better than the Guardian 3 sensor and in 8 days I should be getting the rest of my new 780G pump supplies so I will then be able to speak on the Guardian 4 sensors.
Dexcom, is theking of cgm. I used their first system hear 20 years ago and even then it was better than the g3 and g4
Next time you interview someone from Medtronic ask how they thought it was acceptable to design a sensor (the G4) that requires a second person to help you tape it to the back of your arm? This is not advancement in the industry. This is outdated technology before it's even released!

@@johnpost That is due to them only testing it in that location. It can work in other locations but the results vary. I like to place my Libre on my chest it works well for me and in that location it does not get cought on anything unlike when placed on the back of my arm.
If you use done tuc tape you can both install and get a 2nd week out if your sensor with 1 person, but I do agree.
I agree you not only need a second person to tape it on but the amount of tape that’s needed, it irritates the skin.
Hey Justin, if you're still wondering where to put your Omni pod in? Sharps container from your pharmacy. They'll give it to you. Just a task and they're free and then you can put your your insulin pumps and your needles and stuff in there too. You can also put your your testing strips and stuff in there too so I hope you get one because they come in really handy and once they are full you can close the lid, take it back to your pharmacy and they'll give you a new one. It's just as easy and you don't have to throw away your your pods or anything like that. I hope that helps
Hello, from Spain, currently I have a 780g with G4, which I confirm is a very good pump but a very bad sensor, the real average duration is between three and four days only never 7 days, It is bulky and difficult to put on compared to freestyle y have many disconnections
so the sensor doesn't stay for more than 4 days? it the problem from the sticker itself or the sensor? please am new into this and i want to learn more about it
@@lilyluvs111 It's not a problem with the stickers, I think it's a manufacturing or quality problem. My experience with 8 sensors from a batch, only two have lasted 6-7 days and 6 sensors between 3-4 days.
@@elokimg5311 i think the battery may be the reason i bought it for my little brother and i charged it for around 6 min and it's battery was 67% so it's possible that the battery is the reason ig cuz it lasted for around 3 days, Maybe u should charge it more.
If you have a BG meter connected to the pump it affects sensor reliability. Delete the BG meter from connected devices.
I just found your videos. I love what I’ve seem so far; keep up the good work! The FDA approval process for the 780G was so protracted (especially since the EU had it approved a couple of years before the U.S.) that, if the end of my pump warranty wasn’t until 2025, I would have switched pumps. I know COVID played a part, but they had the application before COVID and there must have been some work being done on the 780G during that time. What do you think about have a discussion with a FDA representative where you could ask the important questions many of us have about their approval process and how they work with the European CE Mark. The Europeans seem to have a more streamlined approval process and, to my knowledge, there are no reports on major issues with devices they’ve approved long before the FDA did.
What happened to the 20 minute warm up time you spoke about at your investors meeting???

I am a Medtronic user. It is time for an upgrade. Only thing is I really love my Dexcom G7 and I am not to crazy with the idea of changing to their CGM. Do you know of any future information about Dexcom and the 780G working with each other?
I’m in the same boat not excited about how far behind on there cgms they are compared Abbott and dexcom.
Medtronic will not be compatible with any cgm that they did not develop, this is from a medtronic rep
It sounds from this video that they are doing the next best thing by revamping their own CGM. They simply will NOT partner with Dexcom, which is costing them a lot of customers. I think they know that now and are creating their own. Hopefully it’ll be as good or better than Dexcom’s.

Its good to know about news of future of Medtronic’s products however in my humble opinion Medtronic should focus on updating current products as well. I’m amazed how it’s possible in 2023 that me having 780g packed with algorithms cannot steer my pump from a smartphone, this is so annoying. I’m super active person, spending long hours on my bicycle and every time when pump is informing about something I have to take it in my hand, this is just stupid ast all, why even the notifications cannot be confirmed from app…another thing is lifetime of sensors and I’m not talking about 7 days but the time how long sensors last before issue with them…

Medtronic lost my confidence. Manufacturing quality sucks. Their accuracy of their CGM sensors are trash. The finer details on their tech/engineer side missed areas of algorithm consistency. They gotta fix their constant RECALL state of operations. And for Heavens sake reduce the ALARMS the user gets. Example- alarm for high Bg. Where is the LOGIC in having the HIGH alert notify you at the same point when it's on the down trend? The same thing goes for the HYPO alert. Why do you need to know you are passing these thresholds in the opposite direction of the danger??😂😂😂😂😂

I am a Tandem / Dexcom user, anxiously awaiting the G7 to be approved for integration. Soon I hope.
I was a former Medtronic user and switched to Tandem because 3 years ago when I switch, Medtronic 780G will be released "next month"..."next month"...and so on. Couldn't wait so I switched to Tandem. now with the 780G released, I'm switching back. the 'every 5 minutes at 100%' correction as opposed the 'once an hour at 60%"

As someone who is living in a country where the ONLY available AID system is Medtronic's 780g, I'm thrilled. I'm currently using Omnipod Dash and Dexcom G6 with Loop and love it but man it is expensive and not sure how long I'll be able to afford it.
I do not get a full 7 days out of the G4 sensor. That’s what I would like them to fix first.
Do they replace the sensor for free or are you stuck have to buy another one?
The thing they seem to be ignoring when they or any company suggests bolusing based on arm movements is the matter of timing. I have to pre-bolus even with the fastest liquid insulins, Fiasp and Lyumjev.
By the time I’m lifting my arm to take a bite, it’s too late to efficiently cover those carbs with insulin. The only exception is Afrezza inhalable insulin which can work either away.
Add to that the times when my blood sugar is high to begin with, there’s no way any liquid insulin will correct and cover food instantly.
Pre-bolus is essential.
so I have been upgraded to the 770 G and now they want to upgrade me to the 780 G, will the Splindira cgm to go with the new 780g program for my 770g ?
I have been type 1 diabetic for 53 years. I have mostly use Medtronic equipment but have gotten little help from them with problems and startups with new pumps. I did change from Medtronic pumps when I couldn't get them to help with the setup of a new pump, I went to Animas, I still have an Animas pump that was only used one month. I miss using it. It is time for me to order a new pump but am trying to find something that will work with the G7. I have been using a Medtronic 630G for several years, it has been out of warranty for several years. My wife has a T-slim pump and is waiting for it to be compatible with the G7,she now uses the G6. I am wondering what I could use that could use all the features of the G7. I just watch my received and react to readings. Is there any pump at this time, 10/29/2023, that will work either open or closed loop with the G7 ? I am placing the first G7 on at this minute !!!
What about Lipohypertrophy with their 7 day pumps? My diabetes specialist says there’s a high risk of that using something delivering insulin in the same spot for seven days.
It’s frustrating to hear the next generation of Medtronic cgms will still have a two hour warm up period. But if they really do let you start a new sensor while still wear a previous one that would solve that issue.
when will the Instinct CGM be submitted for approval?
Medtronic pump needs a lot of updates. The sensor is terrible, always out of target.
Are you currently on the Medtronic or are you a former Medtronic user? I'm on it now but thinking about changing if possible when I hit the 4 year point which is less than a year away. What is the "best" if you can get it?
Presently I have a 780G/guardian 4 sensor. A tubeless pump from MEDTRONIC sounds exciting. My only concern is how it will be billed through my insurance.
As a durable medical supply or through the pharmacy prescription plan That’s the clincher for me.
If you're right hand dominant and wear your watch on your left hand the gestures won't be detected
So they handed in simplera but not instinct? That means that instinct isn’t going to be on the market for another at least 1.5-2 years? That’s a turning point for me as in I’m turning away from Medtronic for my upcoming new pump decision
When I got my first pump 7 years ago I was totally turned off of medtronic because of the size and lack of improvements compared to other companies. I’ve had a tandem t:slim g4 platinum and a tandem t:slim x2 and the x2 has been so much easier for me than injections or the g4. I do wish that the g7 dexcom would be integrated by now and that my pump battery wasn’t so inconsistent, but I’m also 6 months from being out of warranty. I’d love to get the t:slim x3 when it comes out, but I’m also nervous that it won’t be out by the time that I’m ready to upgrade
I see that we are coming closer to getting system that is automatic where we don't have to worry about bolusing. But is there a possibility that we can get a pump that will work exactly like the pancreas by not only administering insulin, but administer glucogen to up blood sugar when sugar may not be readily available for a limited period of time.

I am using 780 with G3 in Australia, soon I can have G4, but however even you develop next generation CGM Medtronic is still way much slower than other company. Thank you for making this vedio but the new technologies does not make me feel exciting as it is still very behind of other competitors. 😢

Medtronic is out of the tubeless market. Insulet won an injunction against EoFlow, makers of the EoPatch. Medtronic can still partner with davita for portable dialyzer development.

Hi, thx for this video. You asked how, as a Medtronic 780G pump, I feel about it... Well, I've been using it since november 2022. I had a hard time with the new Guardian 4 sensor at the beginning even though I've been using the Guardian 3 for a while. I hate the Guardian, too big, too long to start, too much tape around it. But the 780G is really good and take so much diabetes decisions on her own that I can sleep much better and live better as well. So, great pump, good CGM, but can't stop thinking about the other CGM (the smaller one, the more accurate one, the longer wear time, the shorter starting time) and be sad about it.
Totally agree. Medtronic hasn't changed the style of their sensor since at least 2009 when I first started using the pump. Ironically I was resistant to getting a pump for a long time until I heard about sensor technology and I thought real time readings were pretty cool. Turns out I loved the pump but hated the sensors right from day one. Too big, bulky, don't stick (need to tape them down WTF?), expensive, don't last long, not accurate, need recharging etc etc. Only incremental improvements have been made to them in the last 15 years. Medtronic should get completely out of the sensor business and partner with Dexcom or Abbott to make sensors compatible with their pump. It would be a win for their reputation and a win for Medtronic pump users!
@@robbos2432 They won't due to $$$$ they would lose. I like the FreeStyle Libre 3 system the sensor is small and last 14 days and has the lowest MARD of any sensor available now. It would be nice if they would allow users to choose what sensor they want to use with their insulin pump.

CGM and closed loop are beyond reach for me. But truthfully I don’t need them because my control is so good with mdi and glucometer. Also glucometer test strips are becoming cheaper.
the 780g changed my life these things are insane just the censors are trash and could have already improved greatly still the same sensor 10 years later with the upgrades but the same
So you have devices that are 10 day wear and 14 day wear CGM’s with 30-1hr warm ups and what you are going to bring to the market is 7 days and 2hrs of a warm up??! Def a miss here …
haha I feel ya! they are a bit behind...
I simply cant understand Medtronic thinking with the delays in CGM design & length of wear & warm up, when Dexcom & Libre have been pushing 10 & 14 day wear and 1 hr or less warm ups for years. Already the Simplera & Instinct are outdated by being bigger & last 1/2 as long as the competition. That means more insertions and more costs for users, why would we use it? I tried the 1st rendition of the Guardian after using the Libre for a few months. The Guardian went back after just 2 sensors, it was terrible compared to the Libre in so many ways. I love my Medtronic pump(s) and would love to run their closed loop system, but Medtronic is still lagging so far behind the competition when it comes to CGM technology.
You're not wrong. I'm eager to see how the Simplera Sync (formerly called Instinct) will work. it just received approval (CE Mark) in Europe.

With seeing videos on the different CGM's available and their features, not having the ability to calibrate a CGM is a deal-breaker for me. Technology isn't advanced enough, at least at this time, to take in all the variables.
Guardian 4 calibrates with every confirmed BG entered through the 780G system.
I don’t really think this future simplera will do a miracle. Medtronic should improve the pump itself, instead create another sensor. Maybe invest in no tubing and also, system integrated directly to mobile. The pump bottoms are so annoying. I can not wait for my new pump be approved. The only cons at the moment with the pump I want is the fact I had to buy android phone, but I’m happy to buy, I’m 100% sure I will be happier with other pump rather than Medtronic

Why would they get rid of their money maker over 60 Billion is spent on diabetes each year. If they found a cure do you really think that they would place it on the market and kill off their money maker. I remember in the early 90's they had cured 3 people of diabetes by using the cells from dead people sorry I can not remember the medical term for dead bodies. They said at that time that there was not enough dead bodies to cure everyone. But with us now being able to grow cells in a lab how come they have not started offering this cure that was found. I know that a big part of it was finding someone who was a match to the person so that their body would not attack the cells once they were placed. Of the 7 people that this was done on 3 were cured the others only got 1 to 7 years of being non diabetic before their diabetes returned.

Nope 150 to 300 units a day...this is for barely diabetic
I’m using Medtronic 780G and, to be really honest, I HATE IT!!!!! I can not wait to get approved to another pump, simpler and more practical. Too many features and too complex.
