===== WHO AM I? =====
A lot of people think that my name is Goodly, it's NOT ;)
My name is Chandeep. Goodly is my full-time venture where I share what I learn about Excel and Power BI.
Please browse around, you'd find a ton of interesting videos that I have created :) Cheers! - Věda a technologie
I agree completely. I increasingly realize how important it is to document certain Power Query steps or DAC code so that you can understand them well later. Over time it happens to me that I no longer recognize my own work.
Thanks for this and yes I did use your mistake 4 and asked YOU for help on extracting a step from your query into another step (I used the META example. Thank you so so much!!!
It is certainly reassuring to see your top 5 reflect my journey! I recognise that I too regularly make very similar mistakes, but it's a journey and I'm trying to be better all of the time. Thank you Chandeep, for your wisdom and for all of your content!
Thank you for sharing! Thumbs up! 👍💛
Thanks a lot! I agree with all advices!
Thanks for this video. Gave me a lot to think about!
I usually put my notes foe each step in a query in the Properties of the step, you right click a step and select properties. There is a nice box for notes.
I like this a lot, it creates a nice little info icon on top of each step.
Thank you!
thank you for your video. It's very useful for myself.
thank your for helping us..!☺
Very useful video for me. I am facing those mistakes except No3. Thank you so much. I have to try to overcome those mistakes very soon.
Super duper tips.Big applause to your determination.!!!
Hi Chandeep,
Thank you for sharing these experiences of yours.
I appreciate it very much. You are a good and generous person.
See you soon. 👍
3:46 This one is huge. Even now, I have to force myself to plan for the outcome instead of just playing around in the data, hoping that the solution will somehow emerge from the chaos. The point about documenting your work is a very close second.
👏 I totally agree with your points. Planning, planning and planning, important things say three times! By the way, what do you mean by "content creator"? Where can I find them? Thanks,🙂
01:40 - "Power Query is like having Gold under the rug (and you're not exploiting its Power)" ... wow! great analogy!
I said that at the Global Excel Summit (London). People liked it a lot. 😁
hi Chandeep of Goodly!
You mentioned really good themes to avoid, however.
I really recommend for theme #4 to also include Chat-GTP 3.5 for solving DAX measures. (after follow a good course on Prompt Engineering Chat-GPT) What is your opinion?
The whole "taking notes" part is very true. 😂 I can understand the concepts very much so when I'm doing the hands-on part. But after like a few days, some of the measures I'd made would look foreign to me. 😂 I'm like "WTF is this sh*t??!". And I write my notes as detailed as possible, like elementary level kind of comprehension. 😂 So yes, the taking notes part is a game changer.
I'm hard-headed and I make all of these mistakes...and more.
Regarding notes, oh how guilty am I , even before pq and pbi the number of times I wish I'd written something to explain what I'd done.
So true, my future self keeps on slapping my present self for not writing down enough notes
So true
Great as always, thanks Chandeep!
Can you do a power BI full stack video?
Real time projects
You said Power Query is very important to you. I (try to) prepare all data in my datawarehouse using SQL/stored procedures in such a way that in Power BI I mostly only have to think about the visual side of things. I try to prevent DAX and Power Query as much as possible. This method works great for me. Can you give me arguments why I should use Power Query more? Do you think I am missing out on certain things?
How can I turn a dax formula into a slicer!!!!
I am using power query for getting data from emails, my query is fine I checked again and again but don’t know why it is giving duplicate of each data
finished WATCHING
But power query is slow when u do a lot of transformations. Can anyone suggest a way to speed it up
Ad-hoc requester: Can you build a dashboard from this data?
You: Ok. Would you give me a data model so I can build the dashboard for you?
Your work life would be easier :)
🤣
What to do after learning Power BI?? I'm currently seeing on google that the avg salary of a Power BI analyst is 4 LPA. What skills or tools should I learn to have greater salary than 4 LPA??
With experience you can get more.. get started first learn the tool gain the experience then switch.. 3+ can easily get 10lpa.. 6 + 18lpa
@@ar6715 Thank you
Not always possible, but all big companies have lines of demarcation between the developer and the tester. In short, YOU CANNOT EFFECTIVELY MARK YOUR OWN HOMEWORK!
Of course, the laziest devs never test anything. I'm not suggesting that. Just do yourself a favour and find a second pair of eyes. You and your clients won't regret it.
