    stumbled upon your video searching about these steering wheel wraps, nice video, it was exactly what i was looking for! How has it held up over time? I worry about any type of suede/alcantara holding up from hand oils, dirt and grime, but i love the look! thanks again!

    Good alternate for me cuz I want a suede wheel but don't wanna lose my controls. THis way I get the look of an aftermarket wheel but still keep my controls

    • @TheGrizzlyGarage
      @TheGrizzlyGarage  Před 7 lety +1

      It's either this or the Authentic Clubsport GTI suede wheel. Keep controls and get suede but it's going to cost a very pretty penny lol. IMO I like this better because it is a thicker grip.

    looks so clean, hey when are you getting a tune? I would go with United Motorsports. better numbers. doesn't hit boost too hard it's amazing. also I'm still on my stock clutch and I drive hard a lot. at 18,000 miles and I got the tune around 3,000 miles. my clutch doesn't slip at all if you're scared of that

    Looks great Grizzly! I'm going to be picking up my 2016 mk7 in a couple of weeks. Curious as to your opinions on which tune to go with. People tend to lean APR it seems, but I've heard good things about Unitronic as well. Thanks much!

    • @TheGrizzlyGarage
      @TheGrizzlyGarage  Před 7 lety

      I've heard unitronic is a bit more conservative and "safe." It depends if you are looking for straight up HP or drivability and comfort as well as if you have the cash to upgrade your clutch. All in all they are very similar and are all great improvements over stock. Congrats on the soon to be new MK7 you are going to love it!

    Why can’t they match the OEM joins in the leather to the suede one. Bottom portion of the wheel wrap material has bulges on each side cos there is a join in the leather underneath but the suede material in that portion doesn’t have a join where it should. Only thing stopping me getting one of these.

In carbon fiber even (well might not be real carbon fiber but it looks nice) and I think if they are a reputable site to order from I might try to snag the cheap carbon fiber mirror covers and maybe a front lip

      Honestly I know MANY people who have purchased on there and rarely ever have an issue. Most of the stuff is decent quality. As for body kit stuff I have heard it is decent, just be prepared to do a little working and if you know how to paint you can save a good buck or two.

    This video has made me realize that we as VW owners have a disease of eliminating all the cool things about our cars. Gti's and golf R's have some of the nicest steering wheels of any car in its price range and even above and we'd rather put on a tacky wrap or cover over it. Hill assist? "Disable that shit". Headlight washers? "Disable it". Voice assist? "Disable it". I'm not judging since I've done the same on a few occasions (disabled headlight washers since it shits on my car an makes it filthy) but if we want to take the refinement out of our cars we were better off buying an evo. Much faster and less money/hp for mods and no refinement to have to go out of our way to reverse. From my statement you'd prob think I'm one of those that think VW's are the perfect car and they're best left stock. Hell no, from my stage 3 mk4 vr6 turbo to my current mk6 stage 2+ Golf R, my cars are well modded (as was my mk3 vr6 turbo). But what I'm saying is certain things came baller on our cars and need to be left alone. Hell, we paid a premium for them over other cars that don't have those features. Instead focus on where our cars fell short of the mark: power, suspension, wheels/tires and brakes. Love your channel griz but throwing a fake wrap over a beautiful GTI steering wheel is blasphemous. That and putting non oem lights on the car. U spent that much money on the car and u cant justify $600-800 for oem tails and not risk crazy electrical problems, shitty fitment or the lights fogging up or flooding? C'mon brooooo! Anyways dude, thanks for the vids. Always interesting to see what direction the car is heading. I do cringe when I see a new upload of a steering wheel wrap, tire stickers, body panel vinyls or replica wheels :(

    • @TheGrizzlyGarage
      @TheGrizzlyGarage  Před 7 lety +10

      Thanks for the input! Many people use these wheel wraps as a way to protect and prolong the wheel. Since it is temporary and completely reversible you can think of it like a suede dashmat. Simply for looks, a better feel, and to keep the stock upholstery fresh and snazzy. As for all those features, I have none lol Base model GTI S. As for headlight's I can't justify spending an extra $2-300 for a light that looks and functions nearly exactly the same as a Helix. They are a popular and reputable brand alongside Eds reps and are commonly used among VW drivers. Much better quality than some swap meet knock off. Also Tire stickers are awesome lol and as for the wheels they are temporary while I save up for my dream wheels. Thanks for watching bud!

    • @paulwiest8167
      @paulwiest8167 Před 6 lety +1

      It's not tacky. Everyone who gets in the car loves how it makes the wheel thicker and gives the car a more sporty appeal. Its not like he thew one a quick release wood steering wheel he puts up to his windshield every time he parks, these mods are just accentuating the car! Nice dubs btw

      Eüro Nasty I’ve had my mk7 for 2+ years and the steering wheel, while very nice, is starting to fade. So I can see why some ppl cover it up early to protect it. Now I’m thinking on doing this wrap just so the wheel looks nicer instead of faded. And yes I do detail my car’s interior about every other month :) just my 2 cents
