  • This fight was the worst. Owen clearly is clueless and he was way out of line. Even Derek looked pissed. I do not own any content in this video.

@@eden2266 absolutely true! Burke knew that he would trap Cristina, knowing hurting her by doing that would hurt him. Walking away was the best for both of them. Owen dragged her through the mud with him, practically broke her. I absolutely dispise him.

He married her when she was depressed! Even before that, she said she never wanted kids, stating that she would be a terrible mother. He knew what he was getting into from the beginning. You can't just say "things might change", not with someone like Cristina. He forced the marriage, the home, tried forcing her to come back to work, seems like he loves being in charge. This isn't 1965, she has equal rights and the choice. If she thinks she'd be a terrible parent, she shouldn't be forced to be one. Though she does work surprisingly well with Zola, maybe because the pressure of being a good parent vs. career isn't on her shoulders. I stick with her over him any day.

      @MephistoBlack01 Před 9 lety +113

You get all my claps. Of course, she loves Zola but she doesn't feel pressed because she isn't her daughter. Also, as you said, Cristina never wanted to have kids, why the hell Owen wants to search an inexistent problem? "No one doesn't want to have babys" well, Cristina is!
Don't forget that Cristina always wanted to be a cardiotoracic surgeon, and she knew that having a baby would be contradictory because she will never be take care of him good. Not that she will be a awful mother, but she loves surgery more than the idea of having a baby

Yeah he had a vision about what his life would be like but he married her knowing FULL well she did not want to have kids. He just thought she'd change her mind, so it's not her fault he completely dismissed her opinion about not wanting kids.

To anyone on Dr. Hunt's side, claiming that he should have had "a say" in the abortion:
Yes, he would have a say if she lied to him, saying she wanted a kid. But the fact remains that she did inform him, loudly and clearly, that she would never want children. When they progressed as a couple, and eventually into marriage, he implicitly agreed to her stance-he should have ended the relationship if he cannot compromise, but he did not. So when Cristina got pregnant inadvertently, he did not, and should not, have a say. He forfeited that right long ago. It is his fault, and his alone, to keep projecting his ideals onto Cristina, to delude himself that she may change when she has made the contrary abundantly clear time and again, to cheat on her, and to humiliate her right there in front of esteemed friends and colleagues. The truth is Owen Hunt is a misogynist, and the worst kind at that. He is not crude or rude; he is educated and charming; he seems respectful and tolerant, but under that facade, he is just a man who holds and subjects women to what he wants. The most horrifying thing is guys like Hunt often think of themselves, and are largely regarded, as the "nice guy."

I think what people need to focus on more in this argument is not what either of them did wrong but just the emotion that the actors get through. You always think of christina as not being very emotiontional but at the end when the camera is on her face It looks asif he has hit her with a bus. He shouldnt have taken it that far. to see a character we know isnt very emotional portray alot of emotion makes it 10 times more effective.

The idea that Cristina is not emotional has been disproven time and time again. She just doesn't care about things we seem to be "heartwarming" and necessary like hugging and marriage etc. but she def has emotions. Helping Izzy, Mourning George, trying to help Owen's PTSD, failed marriage, helping that little girl that one time, being there for Meredith, the shooting, the abortions and so much more. Cristina def has emotions. She's intensely loyal.

Owen has a point, but so does Cristina. The thing with Owen is that he is having trouble separating his work and personal life. And one would think he could see that Cristina is trying to help Teddy by letting her work instead of cry, which is a whole other issue that Teddy has to deal with herself. But Cristina has always been reckless, so I see how Owen can just see it as Cristina acting out. Teddy kind of gets to act out right now, and she's just utilizing Cristina to do it.

I agree. I think that is why the way the show handled the grief was actually great. This isn't pro Christina pro Owen. Nobody ever thinks that the man has a right to grieve an abortion, never mind that he held her hand, he still has a right to be angry about it because it was something he truly wanted and was excited about.

Owen was in the wrong. He persued Cristina knowing full well who she was. He continued the relationship after she made it clear through words and action that she didn't want children. He ignored it. He later acknowledged that he knew she did not want kids but that he figured she'd "grow up" and come around for him. He stood by her as she got an abortion, then cheated on her so that she could hurt the way he did. He held it all in and exploded on her. He married her when she had PTSD from the shooting. That was a huge mistake. I honestly think after this fight it was selfish of him to stay with her while continuing to hold this baby thing against her but also selfish of her to stay with him knowing she couldn't give him the one thing he wanted. I know they wanted to save this marriage and make it work but having kids is too big of a thing to compromise on. They could have saved eachother allot of pain.

You have to be a really good actor and you have to have a really magnetic chemistry like these two to be able to make an argument like this one so intense, because there is a LOT of passion and weight behind this scene, and their acting elevates that so much.

What makes me the most upset honestly is how he directly says he has nothing to be guilty about. This is what really sheds clear light on who Owen Hunt is. His ego and toxic confidence that what he does is always right has caused so many people so much grief. But because he is not self aware and refuses to see anyone's perspective but his own for some ungodly reason, he never learns a lesson, he never grows or apologizes, or admits wrongdoing. He lied to teddy and put his wife in a horrible situation, and his justification is that there was no other way. It doesn't matter Owen, you should still feel guilty because of the pain that you directly caused Teddy and Christina. It's quite frightening to see a man so steadfast in his constant mangling of relationships and know that he learns nothing from it, and stays sure and ignorant in himself that he has no fault at all. And he's that mad because they decided to do a surgery without his blessing??? He made his wife operate and kill his best friends husband, all under his direct command, but he sure as hell doesn't get screamed at. He's mad because Christina wont give up her uterus for his child for very sane and reasonable reasons, and he chose to take the steps that caused her to be pregnant because its of no real concern to him. He doesn't have to be pregnant, or give up his career, and doesn't have to give birth in deadly pain. HE just gets a child. But again, he has zero awareness for anyone but himself and his wants. The audacity to have a fit at Christina after what he JUST did to her, by lying and manipulating her into a situation that would severely damage her relationship with Teddy, and her own ability to live with herself for being unable to save her mentors husband. I truly just don't understand how he could be so so quick to relieve himself of any and all fault in the series of surgeries and lies that he told and orchestrated with a shocking talent for manipulation. And at the end of the day, he pours himself a drink, and lashes out at his wife because she laughed at him behind his back with a woman he thought he had destroyed her relationship with. It all is from deeply rooted misogyny and a frail sense of masculinity that he refuses to have challenged, especially by someone he considers to be his property. He may be a surgeon, but his intellect is fiercely inferior to that of his peers, and especially Christina, who are able to look at a series of events, and admit some wrongdoing and take steps to help those he's hurt in TREMENDOUS ways to heal. It will never not amaze me how he completely and avidly shirks any guilt and responsibility for fucking with Teddy and Christina and then proceeding to act like a teenage girl at a party and humiliate Christina in front of her friends because his undeserved authority was challenged by a woman who could run circles around him in the OR. Because he felt he needed to punish them both FURTHER after one lost her husband, and his supposed lover was manipulated into being responsible for it...BY HIM. What even??! Fuck Owen Hunt. There has never been a more glaring and obvious specimen for a modern neanderthal who's only way of defending his toxic masculinity is manipulation and feeble gaslighting.

He wasn't lied to and tricked into doing a surgery he wouldn't have agreed to, and he certainly didn't have an unconformable operation to end a pregnancy...he just sits high in his ivory tower and shames all the little mistakes that don't really affect his life, because he is so whiney that he doesn't have a kid, and doesn't get what he wants. Him getting mad and throwing everything on Cristina’s face just means he doesn’t wanna have a baby with Cristina, but he wants the baby more whether he’s with Cristina or not and that’s a stupid reason to have a baby. First of all, Cristina was honest since day 1. Second, Cristina is career first but he LOVES Owen just as she loved Burke. Lastly, Owen asksx Cristina out because he thought she was beautiful and he fell in love with her in the long run so I don’t see the point of getting a divorce just because she doesn’t want a baby.

The song playing has nothing to do with this scene.

@theopengrave I don't think it was out of line at all. I'm not trying to start an argument or anything lol but Cristina always does what she wants and that's not a real relationship, not only that but how can she expect him to be ok with the fact that she's amazing with kids yet she got rid of theirs?

Actually she had the same argument when Meredith gave birth to bailey, she was never in support and she threw it on Mers face.

@chenser1628 I guess it depends which way you the viewer interpret it, I personally think they're shocked at what Owen said. Except I think Derek may be shocked at both as since MerDer were going through their rough patch when it happened Derek didn't know Cristina was ever pregnant and Owen didn't tell him - he just told him they were having problems.

@JAY9493 she promised the same to him. I am shocked of what you commented. this is a seriuous issue. Its about two people in love who have problems. And by the way: Doesnt he have ANY right at all to be angry and sad? Why does she have teary eyes? Because she had no idea what it meant for him. She is stunned and saddened by the depth of his pain. Because she never mentioned to hurt him. Dont forget there are people who want kids. and they matter too.....

@italoluder I do see where you're coming from and yea that is real life, but I don't think he regrets saying that...I personally do not think that it was a 'heat of the moment' situation 'cause you can see how shocked and hurt Cristina is and Owen doesn't even attempt to say sorry...he doesn't even look sorry. He was involved in the decision - he decided to forgive, he decided to stand by her, he decided to stand by and stay with and support the woman he loved - he made that call, not her.

Shonda Rhimes said that they had to go through a slump in pain but would be together. and let's be honest cristina hate but now we would not like owen or she were with other people

Honestly, it seemed like Owen was fine after he went with Christina to get the abortion. But people. Let's not forget. HE IS CHEIF NOW. Every chief in the past of Grey's hasacted like a douche. So I definitely think that Owen messed up, but Christina did push him over the edge with the laughing and all. But I completely support Christina, not because she was totally right, but Owen should not have said that. "You killed our baby!" -- Owen, you were there. Stop placing blame for your own faults.

Well, arguments for both sides were valid, I'd just say Im more on Owen side. He knew she didnt want kids as much as she knew he wanted kids before the wedding, and they said I do anyway. He finally let all the anger out because what Cristina and Teddy did, humiliating him in the OR, was disrespectful and unprofessional. Let's take that scene into account before we conclude Owen raging is irrational.
I love Crowen so much, and I'm so sad they'd never work out.

An Ly I agree, I loved Christina from day 1 but this story arch really upset me. I really wanted them to have a family, but alas it was not meant to be in Shondaland. :'(

He stood by her side when she got the abortion. And he chooses to be mad after? I'm on Christina's side.
