Oh my goodness! M&I production of “Room With A View” not only has a stellar cast, the production values are luscious. Definitely swoon inducing.
Anti-hero is a good way to describe Miss Brodie. I think the film presents the story in a more chronologically linear way.
Completely agree with you about the ages of the actors for Ripley. Per the novel, the two male characters are only a few years out of college and supposedly just finding their place in the world. Also, they are supposed to have a strong physical resemblance.

Enchanted April. Heaven! Its a tub of love! I think the film follows the book fairly well, as I remember.

I'm currently reading The Talented Mr.Ripley - I'm loving it! I'm a little alarmed by the casting choices in the upcoming Netflix series - to me, the youthfulness of the main trio is fundamental to the book. This is a book about young people, living the lives of young people; if Dickie and Tom are in their 40s, it stops making any kind of sense. I assume they'll be playing the characters younger than the actors' actual ages, but even so - these still seem like very strange casting choices.

I agree about Andrew Scott. He doesn't quite fit for the character.

Loved this. Promptly added to my summer watch list. If you are looking for more Muriel Spark adaptations. Elizabeth Taylor’s The Drivers Seat is truly bonkers and disturbing. So bad it’s brilliant territory.

I felt the same as you while reading Kindred.

Room with a View is a beautiful and intelligent film. I really don't think you'll be disappointed.
Interesting in that I don't see Tom Ripley as charismatic or sexy at all. He wants to be those things which is why he admires Dicky so much. He always seems a bit awkward and self conscious. Matt Damon got that very well I thought.

Plein Soleil/ Nur die Sonne war Zeuge, 1960 mit Alain Delon als Mr. Ripley, das richtige Alter, sexy und sehr gut aussehend!

💯 agree about Andrew Scott! Certainly got the acting choos, but he‘s simply a good 20, 25 years too old. It is the juxtaposition of someone so young yet so ruthless, calculating and cold that makes Ripley so fascinating.
The fact that Neflix cast a woman 20 years younger (than Scott) is just 👎🏻.
    Ok, back to the video.
